Thanks for the great video. I have an Epson 5030UB, and this gave me what I needed (and confidence) to take apart and get rid of the 2 dust blobs that had been bugging me!
Thank you. This video helped my take apart my PowerLite Home Cinema 2045. Only major difference was the lens assembly. The 2045 had a much smaller lens assembly couldn't break it down all the way.
thank you! braved a lens clean myself after watching this it looked easy ;) btw... my lens assembly did detach from the focus ring but could not be torn down any further. I am a vaper and had "fog" on my lens' Used 91% rubbing alcohol in a tall glass to soak and clean this all out. Like new! ty!
My vs220 as a single focus ring, after removing this ring.... I lowered the two lenses that were on the focus ring side into the alcohol bath... the other "projector side" lens' were clean so i kept them out of the bath....With the two lenses that were foggy in the "bath" i shook and blew air a few times until I could see the alcohol dry "clear"
also it should be noted that i sprayed some air between the lens' from the side of the plastic housing i could see that they were placed just on top of each other enough to get air though. Saw a bit of dust leave from that method, so since i assumed there was no glue on this part of the structure THAT is why i used the 91% to remove the film/buildup of vapor (polypropylene glycol and vegetable glycerin)
Casey Scalf is it possible to clean the inside lens without removing the motherboard and everything else? I think I'm starting to notice that "fog" Eric was referring to
Im about to go round two - and you may be able to loosen some bits and wiggle it out... but id rather not "recommend" that - hell alcohol shouldn't short anything -- if you had a bathtub full just dump and shake, repeat and dry hahaha
Hi Casey, thank you very much for this extremely informative vid. I found an Epson EH-TW5500 at the dump yesterday and plan to try and fix it. Everything runs smoothly up until the EPSON logo disappears to make way for the menu etc. Unfortunately no menu or any kind of picture is projected at all.... Just dim light. And no flashing led warning lights. I'm thinking a main board problem and will use your vid to guild me through getting it out. I thought I might try a reflow. Plus I noticed 2 specs of dust on the lens being projected so I'll tackle a dust removal job hopefully if I get it working :) Thanks again mate! Anthony
Hi casey i have epson home cinema 2030 i drop my epson on a carpet i thought it's not problem but when i turn on ,those letters on the right upper corner HDMI 2 had a red shadow ,what do you think the problem .can you help me mr casey
Sounds like the LCD panels are misaligned. The fragile transparent screen door connected to the light house assembly in this video is a LCD panel that blocks light making light not pass through certain pixels. The thre Texas Instrument panels in the back of the lens with the three ribbon cables are thre RGB LCD panels gicing you the color. He cleaned the colored panels way to aggressively. I would guess all 4 LCD panels need precice alignment, It's stupid or dumb of Epson not to have adjustment screws for each panel, I think they're just glued in there..
Great video, I just have a question, would dust cause the bottom corner to look blue ? If you have the time to answer I thank you if not, thanks for the video very helpful.
Casey. Good job, but do you do all of your repairs by hand? By that I mean screw by hand? If so, you'll end up with carpal tunnel. You really should use electric screwdrivers where possible. You can get some good low torque ones now. I didn't realise there was so much inside a projector too.
My epson 1965 is flashing red 37 times when I plug it into the wall, no other lights are on or flashing. It turns to green and works fine. Any ideas what to check? Thanks
Epson projector are built so badly in regards of keeping dust out! In a normal home you get dust specks on rhe lens or mirrors within 3years! Also why they rely on loud fans for lamp cooling instead of LED COB that can be cooled with a much quieter closed loop radiotor like a PC is strange.. The fragile transparent screen door connected to the light house assembly lid in this video is a LCD panel that blocks light making light not pass through certain pixels. The three Texas Instrument panels in the back of the lens assembly with the three ribbon cables are the RGB LCD panels gicing you the color. He cleaned the colored panels way too aggressively in the video, I think you should clean them with the same brush you clean a mirrorless dSLR LCD panel with. I would guess all 4 LCD panels need precice alignment, It's stupid or neglect of Epson not to have adjustment screws for each panel, I think they're just glued in there..
my projector seems to be "possessed" It adjusts the resolution on its own and the settings just appears on the screen without me hitting the settings button. Any advise? Or should I just call an old priest and a young priest?

So just use air or can we use a lcd cleaning cloth on the lcds, prisims and lenses?

Thumbed up and subbed!

I used a soft brush to clean the glass windows directly next to the LCD, it destroyed the colored coating, so yeah, don't do that!
Nice

why they make it so complicated? coolers should be easily removable!

Excuse, what is the green tool called?
That tool is called a spudger.
