Gilgamesh seems so cool on paper, but when it comes to gameplay it feels so clunky and flawed. The one merit of the Aspect (the increased number of dashes) is offset by possibly the worst dash-attack of any of the melee weapons in the game, making what SHOULD feel fast instead feel like you're experiencing constant whiplash - less of a wild animal lunging around and more like an idiot trying to dodge traffic. On top of this, Maim feels like a complete after-thought, especially with the horrible damage-buff it grants enemies for a means of 'balance'. Whilst, yes, SOME builds work with Gilga, they're gimmicky at best and cumbersome at absolute worst, and I'd rather personally take a Zag Aspect over Gilga almost any day. At the least, they're reliable and you know almost exactly what you're getting outside of RNG.
I did a fun run with gilgamesh and completely ignored the maim effect on the dash special and just focused on dash attack with artemis dash attack, some chaos boons, and a lucky epic greater reflex from hermes. Was really fun just dashing around and attacking constantly, I think i might have also gotten a daedalus that gave dash attack a 2nd hit but i could be misremembering.
What’s the issue with the dash attack? For instance, it works very well in my experience with ME, allowing you to hold down dash and attack for easy doom damage.
@@bendre1997 It does far less damage than it's normal attacks. (20 vs 60 according to the wiki) So you have a weapon with big chunky hits with a teeny tiny dash attack. So the Artemis attack works well for the normal attacks, but poorly for the dash attack, while Zeus is not great for the normal attacks, but really nice for the dash attacks. For the other fist aspects, the dash attack does more damage, but it is pretty similar. (25 vs 15) So you fast and weak attacks with a fast and weak dash attack. This makes stuff like Zeus work really nicely. (You can then have the special focus on big chunky attacks; this is why aspect of Demeter is so good. You have excellent fast attacks and excellent chunky attacks. However, they are on different slots which is important.) ME syncs super well with aspect of Gilgamesh because you want to dash attack as much as possible; however, everything else will feel awkward.

I was kind of zoned out at the Charon fight and when Hael read out the Meg hit damage for 3750 I was confused for a second. Like, for a second I thought he listened to early Acacia Strain
Maybe someone can explain this to me. Why do people run splash dash on melee builds? Splash dash is obviously a good boon, but even if I'm running a spear I frequently knock enemies out of my attack range. Walls are useful sure, but that's not always an option. I don't think the loss of consistency is worth it.
have you tried gilgamesh fists + the kick hammer boon on special + poseidon special + 30% special speed from hermes, pretty solid and fun build u just spam dash + special
add on all the goody boons from poseidon like slamming, breaking wave, rupture and the legendary boon, had this run once, still cant get it again XD you just fly everywhere with the kick

Gilgamesh would be cool, if maim gave base damage + some % of the damage you cause with the effect on. balanced could be made by choosing either attacks, cast or id you want it spicy, any source of damage.

gilg is just good for doing fun dash builds

I had some fun times with big PPs when i got a bunch of poms on a good poseidon's aid, base damage is already so high you see 2-4k left and right.

You'll often do more damage dashing around and hitting with tidal dash than you will with the actual attacks--especially at the start.
