Mel, while you were crawling across that open gridwork of wood, my heart was in my toes. I think you're extremely brave, and you don't have to justify your fear for us at all. Forcing yourself to do all that so that Gary doesn't have to struggle alone is true love.
Keep ding what you are doing Mel and Gary. You won't EVER please everyone. I've watched you since you moved and have marveled at your work ethics. Putting your life out there is hard, and most of us appreciate you sharing your life with us.
Gary’s shirt is the story of my life in 1 simple statement: I love it. And Mel, I have some serious respect for you. To fight through your discomfort with heights to play with very heavy beams … amazing.
OMG! I’m a nervous wreck! Gary pushing the post up was giving me huge anxiety.. you two are frickin amazing! Mel you are the best cheerleader, I would defo want you on my team. These videos are going to be so great to look back on in years to come, for your children and grandchildren. As much as the kiddos think “oh mum and dad are working on the house” when looking back will say “holy moly what legends my parents are/were” the enormity and physical impact of the task hasn’t really registered for them and that’s totally understandable at their tender ages. Absolutely outstanding physical and mental fortitude from the man that overthinks everything. What a great guy you are Gary. Cheers you two and God Bless ❤❤I’m exhausted 😂phew! I can’t watch you walking on those open beams Mel.. I want to go into the house and slide that green board to you. 🙈🙈🙈You are so damn brave I am petrified of heights.
Man my nose has been really running off. Allergies. Are kicking like van dam . Spring is definitely around the corner. .❤❤ I have seasonal allergies means year around. ❤. Love you guys so much.you guys are doing a really good job on the deck .
Little hints here. From personall experience lol roosters are like eating a rubber ducky, pressure cook! Use your instapot!!! Low slow and long. #2 go ahead and work a load of bunny poo in your raised beds now, give it about 2 months to break down. Just little advice. It will make your garden blow up this year! Do it now. Just throw some in, rake it in to get it in break down get a little spring cleaning on the pens going. Its well worth it.
That was nail biting, breath holding video for me. Mel you are a brave lady. Glad no one was hurt . Love Gary t-shirt message. Thanks for another great video.
Mel and Gary, I don't usually say anything but I wanted you both to know I commend you both on your building. I also like Roxanne and Anthony"a channel too. You too help people do anything they need and do your own too.. I watch you all the time. Take care. Shirley
You know what Mel….I couldn’t do that up on the roof !!! I would need to have a team of helpers plus angels to get this build done!!! Don’t apologize for being careful of your steps!!!❤🙏🙏
You both are that much closer to having your deck done & ready to work on the roof! Mel, your doing great! I still have an issue with climbing up the ladder half way. Awesome team, & always an awesome job!!
😂I love Gary’s shirt!! It’s perfect!😂 Also love this video too!! I don’t know how you lifted those heavy boards up there. Too heavy for me lol. It’s all coming together perfectly! Stay safe!!! 💜
We have 7 roosters for freezer camp now, I was out there yesterday and 3 have been fighting pretty bad, they was already kicked out of the hen house in Dec, but was just to cold to butcher.
Please get more green boards or plywood on that open deck.you con always use them later in the Project! Also, please get a taller stronger ladder! Backs that are damaged from falling are never the same!! God bless 🙌
Treated wood is very heavy!!!! You both are very strong people. It a wonder your muscles are not bulging out like bodybuilders...hahaha. just be careful up there.
Mel, I don't know how you are able to do the things you do.j I would just freeze. Can you put more green board or plywood sheets temporarily on the deck? It would be safer for both of you. Gary is the man! Have a good weekend.
I've been sitting here watching you guys put those polls up there. Would it not be easier to stand on that bed of the truck and load Em up all onto the deck? That way, it would bring you way closer than any of the ways you've been doing it just wondering.
At least you made it and you made it beautiful and wonderful and I love the day to enjoy it. A lot is the most happy day for me to watch that video you don’t know how much is make my day is my dress and I love it and I love both of you too.
hi there, when i saw you guys struggling whit the poles and stuff then i was thinking "why not put everything they need upstairs on the deck or inside the house instead?" you could place the lumber inside the house and then just bring out the board/ planks from the house then cut them on the deck and then you wont need to struggle whit it to get it up to the deck then up from the deck to were it should be. maybe a bad thought.
Why would you compromise the structural integrity of the beams that hold up your roof? Did you consult with an engineer to see the load requirements for the roof ?
You're do a fabulous job guys!👏 Please don't forget to listen to your body signals and take breaks. I don't want you pulling a back muscle and don't forget to keep hydrated. Sending love from Sara W. 🤗🙏
With no experience farming maybe I'm more sensitive. But when I saw the rabbits after the chickens I'm thinking it's such a small space for an animal that would probably love to run or hop around. Would be nice if they had a run like the chickens. Might get them more exercise and make more muscle? Anyways, I have no clue just a thought.
Someone's going to get hurt, Mels nervous snd Gary walking the very edge, I'm sweatin it just watching., I cant watch the rest, back later. Please be safe 🙏
My knees were knocking watching you do that. There’s absolutely no way I’d be up there. I would’ve ran all the deck boards up to the last few on the edge before I’d get up there for those posts. Nope, no way. I’d be worthless up there at this point.
Those are a handy addition for any build and many other jobs around the property. All you need is a dry storage area, ie no humidity, if you have sisal rope. I stretch mine full length on a dry sunny day, then I can check for mould and other damage. It is quite amazing what you can get done with these useful assistive tools combined with strong sash clamps and F clamps, even the home made wooden F clamps.
You should be arrested and jailed. WHy don't you put down 4 by 8 sheets or are you too cheap
TODD, Is that You?! LOL! This comment is OUTRAGEOUS! 😂
You are so quick to cut others down. Why don't you try to understand other peoples situation before you go off the deep end next time sir. Ugh!
Crazy crazy, you guys know better! Live you guys!❤❤
@@SimpleLifeReclaimed Good comment MeL hehehe Todd strikes again.
10 people agreed with them. So sad.

Gary he works with love in everything he's does with Mel as well.
Respect for pushing yourself well out of your comfort zone.

Awesome job
Love Gary’s Shirt!! 😂😊. This is awesome you’re going to be able to ENJOY the SUNDECK this Summer!!!!!! Evenings will be EPIC!💞👏
Great job 😊
Treated wood is very heavy!!!! You both are very strong people. It a wonder your muscles are not bulging out like bodybuilders...hahaha. just be careful up there.
I strongly suggest some decking rough installed for both your safety. Too much to risk with the weight of posts, the height and weather conditions
Mel, I don't know how you are able to do the things you do.j I would just freeze. Can you put more green board or plywood sheets temporarily on the deck? It would be safer for both of you. Gary is the man! Have a good weekend.
GREAT J9B YOU TWO LOVEYOU GOD BLESS THIS IS ANNAMAY
Are you going to bore a hole in the bottom post to hold a dial to place the top post on, so helps hold them in place?
Thumbs up on the shirt Gary! Overthought is better than Underthought
You are doing great, me however I would be on the ground because I get dizzy when I get up high.
Progress 👍🏼😁👍🏼
Great Job!!! Glad you are safe! God bless!
I've been sitting here watching you guys put those polls up there. Would it not be easier to stand on that bed of the truck and load Em up all onto the deck? That way, it would bring you way closer than any of the ways you've been doing it just wondering.
Amazing job ❤❤❤
Curious why 6z6 post? Here in western ny it’s 4x4 post with joist hangers for rafters and we get extreme snow loads and have no issue
At least you made it and you made it beautiful and wonderful and I love the day to enjoy it. A lot is the most happy day for me to watch that video you don’t know how much is make my day is my dress and I love it and I love both of you too.
Please be careful when you push them up there 🙏. Be safe 😊❤
Love your shirts

maybe a bad thought.
Good morning
What about using hurricane straps on the post? Just wondering
ROOSTERS; I know the younger roosters are excellent pan fryers, does the older ones best done in a pressure cooker and for canning for later use?
Mel you are getting more used to being up on the roof...good job guys those poles are heavy I just replaced one on my carport...later laters..😊
Nice
You should build a cottonhood workshop.Slash garage for your next bill
Please be safe you two at all times I wish you had some one to help you two
Mel, as brave as you are fighting your fears, could you not ask Anthony to help with those posts? However real proud of you.
You could get some cheap plywood to put down while you are working on the upper deck.
U and Mel are doing a great job
I would have been terrified on that deck! Mel pushed through, Melanie is my new superhero 🎉. 😊
Great job guys! Mel, you are more brave than I am!
Mel, God bless your heart! You did it girl! I couldn’t have. And Gary, I know that was heavy. I’m proud of yall.
Oh my! That was complicated and scary. Great job!
35:39 eww Mel I’m with you here, I’m not even up there but looking down I have vertigo during that scene.
OMG !!!! MEL>>>>>MEL>>>>>>MEL you did so awesome girl !!!
You two are awesome👍👍👍👍👍
MEL I HAVE A TEE SHIRT LIKE YOURS. HOPE YOUR DAY IS BLESSED. FROM NORTH CAROLINA
Would it make sense to run a few lag bolts on those posts?
With no experience farming maybe I'm more sensitive. But when I saw the rabbits after the chickens I'm thinking it's such a small space for an animal that would probably love to run or hop around. Would be nice if they had a run like the chickens. Might get them more exercise and make more muscle? Anyways, I have no clue just a thought.
Looking like the bearded carpenter lol! Go Gary
You both did great ❤
Looks good 👍 just wondering if you are going to add lag bolts to those beams ?
Great job guys.
Doinngsoo good Mel 💚💚💚💚💚💚 can't wait seeu enjoy ur deck 💚💚
Proud of you Mel!
You’re very brave Mel! Proud of you!
27:20 momma got it! 😍
Strong momma 💪💪🏼
I do not blame you mel😱 Why don't you put more boards down😥❤ Be careful😇
You should have boarded the platform and done all the work from up top bringing those beams in through the front door
Someone's going to get hurt, Mels nervous snd Gary walking the very edge, I'm sweatin it just watching., I cant watch the rest, back later. Please be safe 🙏
Looking great well done man. God Bless from your Canadian Friend.
I LOVE BOTH of your tee shirts!
I think you guys are doing a great job on your home keep up the great work
Thanks so much! This means a lot to us!
Awesome 👏 great team work
This might be a silly question but why did you not just take the beams through the house as it was such a struggle to lift them up
My knees were knocking watching you do that. There’s absolutely no way I’d be up there. I would’ve ran all the deck boards up to the last few on the edge before I’d get up there for those posts. Nope, no way. I’d be worthless up there at this point.
Great job guys your measurements are spot on Gary and be careful Melanie
Good Evening Mel and Gary!! 😊✨️❤️
Two words ( homestead equipment ) tractor with bucket and backhoe opinion
Gary didn't fall! Yea!
The dial should be 1 foot long, so you would have 6inches in each of the posts.
Looks good gary and mel, but please be careful ,maybe you both as a precaution ,you should wear your harnesses like you did on momma v roof!!!..❤
I have a block and tackle that would lift them up there, with building a frame out of 4x4's
Those are a handy addition for any build and many other jobs around the property. All you need is a dry storage area, ie no humidity, if you have sisal rope. As for your T-shirt, I've run into that....
So I was very nervous for y’all! But you did it! Good job
Another exciting day full of adventures.
