cool stuff ..Agnew INCO era leading into McCreedy era.... to think that in the 1920's the Bell were living at the mansion 6:00 on John Street ( built c1906 ) in McKim township while the newlywed Parker's were about to build their residence ( Pink Castle on John Street ) near the Jewish synagogue ( built for the likes of the Silverman, Rothschild, Greenspoon, etal ... ) and Joseph Errington ( built Massey as a young mining exec ) had joined forces with Thayer Lindsley ( Falconbridge founder basically born in Africa ??? raised in Boston ?? ) and with the Berkeley ( west coast Yukon Alaska ) mining Bradley`s of Treadwell Yukon ( Rothschild funded ) and were opening up the local mines ( copper, nickel mostly ) but a few years later those mines were being closed as the great depression of the 30`s set in..,,,,,,,while the group ( Falconbridge mostly ) took their deep pockets to the gold and silver mines of the height of lands ( where Mann and McKenzie of Canadian Northern Railroad had built one end of what was Canadian National by 1927 ) .. Parker had been sent to the area to be the top exec at the Creighton mine ( opened in 1902 while the Bradley were in Copper Cliff ) and moved to the Copper Cliff area while the Merwin ( Lumber experts ) took over the Pink Castle but it ended up as a meeting place and residence of the top ( Laurentian ) educators in the area... makes one wonder what the reality of the decisions of some of the bigshots seen in this vid led to and if there is any truth to the Bell Museum being haunted by ????
I would be very curious to know the origin of this footage, it's history and producer. As a native born Sudburian this video could shed much light on many questions. Enjoyed it, will share it. If anyone can shed some light on details it would be much appreciated. Again thanks for sharing this.
Hi Colette. This footage was actually shot by my grandfather Robert Stevens in 1926 except the shots of him and my grandmother with my uncle Bob(the toddler) and uncle Bill (the infant) that were taken by a friend. Most were shot within the Sudbury region.
Are you related to an Anne Marie Ripley who lived on David St. in Sudbury in the early 60's. She was marred to Don Ripley and they had several children. I lived next door in the upstairs apt. We were friends for the short time I lived in Sudbury, and she told me she named her new baby, Paula , after me. She was an unforgettable woman, languid, beautiful and was her own woman. Really film star quality. I remember some of her children, Wendy, Theresa and Tommy?. I think her maiden name was Stevens, come to think of it? So I may be on the right track here. Wonderful footage.
Hi Paule. Paula is my sister and I'm the baby born in 66. Mom and dad are both gone now but all 7 of us are still kicking and John my big brother before Teresa still owns the house. The man and woman in this movie were my mom's parents and the 2 kids, her brothers. She came along 4 years and one more brother later. Thank you for your kind words, mom kept her beauty to the end.
This is incredible footage. What a treasure. Thank you for sharing and giving us a climpse of our local history.
Enjoyed seeing some buildings that were still around in the 50's & 60's of my youth, e.g. old St. Andrew's UC, the Fire Station...

My grandfather would be in there as a 15 year old boy
