Power Steering Pump Replacement

- In this episode I am doing the last major thing I need to do before heading to Moab for a week. That is replacing my PSC steering pump. I've recently had a couple of problems with my steering not working. Being on a large incline whilst crawling for a long period of time certainly doesn’t help, I understand, and that can sometimes lead to to overheating or fluid not pumping through the system right BUT we have another one on our person so I switched the pump out just incase there IS anything wrong in that pump.
I really enjoy working in that tight space, using that sense of touch to get to those bolts in tight squeezes. It was fun to do, another thing to check off my list on "how to do's" on MischiefMaker and we should be ready to go now.

Well I was going to go to EJS this year but in testing out my rig I started having problems with my Atlas t - case not shifting. On inspection I found my shifter linkage was screwed up and called Advanced Adapters and was told they do not have the parts in stock and it will be mid April before they have them. So with that and the new 10 inches of snow I have here I guess I'm SOL. A bummer for sure as I have not gone for 8 years and I live only 140 miles away. Sad too that I was hoping to meet you and others as well. Hope you and every one who attends has an AWESOME trouble free time and I'll shoot for next year. Was glad to see your wrenching skills broaden and improve good for you. Peace Out and Rock On!

Way to get the job done🤘🏼 where’s Walt the camera man?! I feel you, camera angles are always the hardest, was just putting in a new exhaust last night. Even with Ben holding the camera, it’s impossible to get a good shot without a lift.

If that’s the standard psc pump that comes with their kit. Take a 15/16th socket I believe where the -6an fitting are. There’s a piston in there that gets burrs and tends to stick. Happened with mind and will fix it temporarily till you upgrade to their higher flow pump like you did.
have you ever had wandering steering in any of yours and if so does a suspension kit fix or do i need a steel steering box for my jeep? love your jeep btw
Have you ever had any issues with your wireless winch? My concern is that the remote would fail to connect for some reason.
Never happened. You do have to remember to charge the remote, but it also will work while charging, so if needed, you can plug it in to your headunit when you get to the trailhead and after an hour or so, the battery should be enough to get you through the day.
A good heavy duty cooler would help with pump longevity.
I live in Canada, it is never "hot" here my PS pump is failing I reject your reality and inject my own.

🤣 OMG, I just did this (along with the ENTIRE p/s system)!!! I was hoping that, with PSC, I would NEVER have to do it again, but I suppose that’s just a pipe dream. Glad to see you getting MM all sorted out and REALLY excited for EJS! We’re just popping in for a few days, but it should be a blast. See you there!

Perhaps your power steering issues are caused by the pump reservoir angle causing lack of fluid to make it to pump. But I am sure you thought of that.
