Don't forget you need 2 rooms for all your backlog of subscription boxes! 🤣🤪 If you guys aren't sure on kids, pls don't let a Dr try and talk you into one saying the pregnancy helps with endometriosis etc. 20 yrs ago it happened to me. I stood up for myself and stood my ground saying we weren't planning on kids so 4 months after I turned 29 the Dr finally agreed to do a hysterectomy. Keep standing up for you! thank you for being so open! You are helping people more than you know! I was stage 3 so I can't imagine 4! Best of luck! Jeanne

Great confirmation for all of us to advocate for ourselves at the doctor's office. I tend to have this 'oh, I don't want to be a bother' attitude that hasn't served me well. Actually, I don't think it helps others either. So happy little Tatter is doing well after the raisins. 🐾💙

I'm so glad tater is okay! We once had a pup eat several bars of Hershey's chocolate and we called the emergency vet and they told us there's pretty much no amount of hersheys chocolate that will hurt a dog because those practically no cocoa in it which is disturbing all on a its own

      Only dark chocolate is harmful

    • @deliasharpalyce
      @deliasharpalyce 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +9

fun fact (?), chocolate is toxic at about the same rates it is for humans as it is for dogs! the rule of thumb is 2 oz per pound of milk chocolate, 1 oz per pound of dark chocolate to get into trouble. it's just that uhhhh. we don't. we don't really eat 150 oz. of dark chocolate in one go. whereas a 12 pound dog can actually eat like 12 oz of dark chocolate, since that's an amount of chocolate you'd actually have and be able to buy.
white chocolate tho is totally fair game, it only contains the cocoa butter and not the chocolate solids so eat as much as you want and feed your dog as much as you want LOL

    • @rachelhansen2417

It depends on the size of the dog too. I’ve got a 5lb pup who cannot get more than a handful of Hershey kisses without being in danger, but my childhood 67 lb dog was totally fine (aside from being a bit disoriented) after eating a massive larger-than-king-sized amount of chocolate.

I'm so proud of you for advocating for yourself at the doctor! It can be really hard to do that, especially since your doctor doesn't seem like the most, shall we say, communicative person in the world😅 Before my husband passed, we would always go in to each other's appointments just to advocate for each other and make sure nothing got passed over or forgotten. If you have a hard time speaking up at the doctor, don't be afraid to bring someone you trust right into the exam room with you, it can really help!!

In university my roommates' 60-pound lab ate an entire box, box and all, of Claritan. I had no car, so poison control talked me through inducing vomiting with a bottle of peroxide. It was awful, but he pulled through and roommate came home and we taxied to the emergency vet. Which luckily her parents covered with their credit card, because it was $$$$. It is so scarey, glad you got through it! Poor Tadder!

I was once watching some lovely, crazy beagles for a close family friend. I left my purse at the house while I went out to get dinner with my partner. I came back and I realized they had gotten into my bag (they had never done that before!) and they had pulled out my bag of cacao drink mix and eaten a quarter of it. Cue me having to call their mom with a terrible pit in my stomach and her walking me through the process of inducing vomiting with peroxide. Having to wrangle those wild and wriggly beagles resulted in me pulling a lot of muscles in my back and shoulders. My partner was an absolute saint throughout the whole experience even though he ended up staying there for hours longer than we had originally planned for after dinner. Everyone was okay in the end, but I will never forget it.

I've had a couple dogs who ate chocolate, which wasn't fun! The worst was a 6 lb Chihuahua who ate 6 rising dinner rolls. We thought the tray was out of reach, but she figured out how to grab it. About 15 minutes after she ate them, we noticed she looked a bit bloated. Yeah, rising dough is REALLY bad for any dog, but for a tiny dog, yikes! We called our emergency vet and they had us induce vomiting with peroxide. That pup was so stubborn about throwing up (in general), that it took 30 minutes to get all of them out. I have no idea how she even fit them into her tummy in the first place. Thankfully, she was fine after, though we did have to do 2 weeks of a bland chicken/rice/broth diet until her stomach shrank back to normal size.

One thing to note is that both anxiety and depression are side effects of chronic ADHD. When you finally get treatment for the ADHD, it's like night and day.

I’m wondering if that’s my issue, I have ADD that I’ve never had treated with any sort of medication, but I have depression and severe anxiety as well. A great deal of my anxiety stems from my inability to complete things and procrastinate till the last possible second, I’m just too afraid of being looked at like a drug seeker if I ask to be treated, so I’ve just been spiraling for prob 2 decades. I know I would feel a hundred times less anxious if, for example, driving weren't so exhausting and stressful for me because keeping my attention on just the road and the whole road for extended periods of time weren't so fiendishly difficult. So happy for you!

as someone who also has done the anxiety-and-adhd thing - it is WILD how much the adhd med helped my anxiety. it's like having your thoughts degunked! it doesn't magically fix everything, but i found myself actually able to *do the coping strategies*. it's the difference between trying to use a computer around infinite pop-up advertisements, and actually having a computer mouse where you know you can just click the X on the corner to make them go away. Almost same thing happened. I was sick a month ago (haven't been sick in very long time). I had an appointment with the doctor Dr and decided to leave my senior dogs out of their kennel because had no energy. I was doing self remedies that included tea, honey, vapor rub on feet with onions. I threw the socks away in the bag was tossing tissues in. I really was so sick that I couldn't think straight. I came home to see torn up tissues and the socks with no onions. I honestly didn't have any money and didn't know what to do. I cried and called a friend who was willing to meet me at the emergency vet. My dogs never got sick or reacted and turned out to be okay. But I was truly devastated, but grateful they were okay. It happens, but we just have to be hyp aware that they get into anything at anytime. I'm glad the babies are okay!😊❤ You are not alone in this.

I’m so proud of you for being assertive with your med care! 😊. That’s a very positive step. Just wanted you to know I didn’t get a driver’s license until I was 35. Talk therapy really helped me take that step as well as with other anxiety & depression. I think it it’s a nice compliment to medication. And it’s it a lot easier now since it can be done online. Last thing, our doggie (now 10!) managed, as a 3 month old puppy, to find 2 raisins underneath a cabinet on the kitchen floor. My daughter & I ( both crying) rushed her to vet hospital & she had to stay overnight. Poor little baby had been with us less than a week & likely thought we had given her back to the shelter 😢. Love your channel!

Years ago I used to be a dog groomer. There was a springer spaniel that came in one time named Rafer. He and his mom jogged 3 miles from home to our shop so he would be tired out and behave. He was always a good boy just too much energy lol. Well this time I hear and saw this projectile vomit coming out of his cage before it was his turn. I immediately got him outside to get it out and in looking at the mess I see there are cupcake wrappers and chicken bones. Lots and lots of wrappers and bones. We call the let mom and she discovered he had gotten into and eaten 29 chocolate cup cakes that were for her daughter’s classroom and he got into the trash for the chicken. He was okay but that was so scary for his mom.

Just a little observation about your meds (not a Dr, but been on psych meds for 15+ years). They basically have you on two 'uppers.' If your Wellbutrin is the XL version, that stays in your system for 24 hours. For some, not everyone, this can exacerbate the amphetamine effects of the Adderall. If you have trouble sleeping, ask your doc for the regular version of Wellbutrin.

Hey Alexandria. I was thinking about the problem with the moldings in the house, and the problem with the tracks on the closet doors. Sometimes, you can get stuff like that fixed as part of the purchase. You tell them the sale depends on if they will fix them. Can't hurt to try! xoxo

So many exciting things going on for you!!! You have given me the courage to advocate for myself at my next Dr appointment. I have been treated for depression and anxiety for years. I make to-do lists and then lists for my lists, and get so overwhelmed I have to go to sleep from the fatigue. I almost never fully accomplish a task, even though I am super OCD and detail oriented, which I know doesn't make sense. But, I definitely think it is something I should talk with her about and definitely self advocate.

ER Vet/Pet Poison Control--been there, done that. My 15 lb dachshund took the lids of the plastic storage & ate 4 days with of her 80 lb American Bulldog sister's antibiotic & pain meds. Didn't chew up the plastic. Took the lids off!! I found it Wednesday morning, the day before Thanksgiving!! I was getting ready to go to my parent's, 4 hours away. She ended up ok but the stress!! Ugh!! She's almost 16 now.
Endometriosis. Not sure my dr ever said 'stage 4' but I went thru A LOT!! Adhesions, fluid build up, laproscopes to clean up the mess which caused more adhesions, shots to go into a medical menopause followed by a pregnancy to give my body a longer time to heal, which didn't go to plan since my body didn't want to leave the medical menopause. It was a long road. I had 2 bio kids, 1 before all the interventions & the planned pregnancy after the shots. Once that baby was about 1, i was still miserable & decided to have a hysterectomy. Everything is gone & it was the BEST decision!! We knew that we didn't want any more kids. We had 3 & that was enough to raise & educate. It's been almost 20 years now & I still feel like it was the best decision. The pain...the way it affected my life...the dr visits...hang in there!! It wasn't an easy road, but it's a road you can make it down!!

And Ren, I’ll bet he did not enjoy having to get up and go to the emergency vet! I know you met your parents there. But he did not know that.
Good luck with the house hunting! It will happen when it is supposed to!

I found out about raisins being toxic years after my dog and i shared many oatmeal raisin cookies over her life. She was a pekingese, she lived to be 18.

Yeah, I didn't know about raisins and chocolate when I was a kid. My dog LOVED tootsie rolls.
She lived until she was 16, so it wasn't the tootsies that did it (I think she swallowed them whole, which made them pass without causing issues). Unfortunately, it was severe arthritis and loss of life enjoyment that caused us to decide to put her to sleep.

@@_Azzychan idk how much chocolate tootsie rolls actually have in them? i still wouldn't recommend giving them to your dog now, but more actual chocolate = more toxic. like if your dog ate a bar of unsweetened baking chocolate, that's VERY bad. but if they eat an oreo or two, you're probably fine. i knew a kid growing up who gave his dog fudgesicles.

Hey Alex!! I just wanted to give you a heads up about Wellbutrin. It has a tendency to lower the threshold for seizures for some people, so just be aware of that and make sure the other medicines you take don’t do that as well! My fiancé was on Wellbutrin and he took Benedryl, not knowing that they both lower the threshold and he had a seizure on New Years Eve. I don’t want to scare you or anything, but I just wanted you to be aware!!

Like you, my improvement was profound, and I found myself wondering if this is how other people - like my spouse - feel normally. I'm almost 70 years old, a lot of years lost to mental struggles. But better late than never. Wishing you all the best!

As a child with ADHD they used to start you on the highest dose and back you off. It was wild the swings as you came off Ritalin every night. We had to fully come off one drug to even start a new one and that sucked to. With my own child it is the opposite! All my med trauma made me wait on my kids treatment. I regret that.

You’ve been in this familiar location for a while, with a house that has ended up cluttered like your mind. Now you have your ADHD meds, it’d be perfect to start somewhere fresh 😊 I’m terrible at advocating for myself at the doctors, so I know how hard that was, we’re all so proud of you! I’m so glad Tater’s okay! My Yorkie has pica, so I have to be really careful about what’s left out of containers (she opens drawers so 😅) and we’re also frequent flyers at the vet 😂
Note: Lexapro is an SSRI, which means you don’t need to wean yourself off it. It’s a general rule to advise weaning for all antidepressants since some classes must absolutely be weaned off, but when it comes to patients using SSRIs we usually advise them they don’t need to, especially if they’re stopping because of side effects like yours. But always consult with your prescribing physician first!

My 2 German shepherds got bit my fleas and even though they are on prevention they were constantly chewing and pulling out hair so both went to the Vet for cortisone shots then for emergency grooming for soothing baths. We love our furbabies but yes they can be expensive.

The day we were moving out my dog got ahold of rat poison. The emergency vet induced vomiting and they wanted us to call poison control and explained the immediate $85 fee. The brand she ingested could have either been really bad or she was gonna be okay. We didn’t know which of the 2 types she had and poison control would have had no way to tell us either. So we refused, like you said I get they need to make money but it seems like such a scam.

I work as a vet nurse and one day I brought my dog to work as many of us do. A dog came in who ate a box of raisins from grandma's bag. We made the dog vomit, and the vet was going through the vomit to take the raisins out to show the owner and make sure we got them all. After showing the owner in the room, she was walking them out and didn't realise my dog went into the room behind her. He ate all 10 of the raisins! One of the other nurses who went in to clean the room saw my dog and saw the raisins missing, and she immediately started to panic. We had to make my dog throw up too, and he was so miserable all day! 😂😂 my vet felt very bad, but it was an accident and a funny story to this day.

Then we found our 3 lb peanut butter missing. . .and she opened it and ate half of it. We still dont know how she got into so much stuff and was prefectly fine. She crossed the rainbow bridge this year and we miss her so much and understand the constant rush and fear from toxic foods.
