    Awesome video! Thank you so much, I replaced all the air bags on my GL450 and was wondering where the filter on the pump was. This helped me. You know everything is a big secret at Mercedes, thank you again.

    Great video! I had the same problem! My compressor inlet hose also had broken at the elbow. The Dealer wanted to replace the air springs but that did not make any sense to me since it was not a consistent problem. The valve block caused the random "front down" / "rear down" / "all down" issue I was having. Thanks for posting!

    • @NS-pt9rr
      @NS-pt9rr ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Did you replace the valve or can you blow compressed air through it to clear it ?

  • @andrewtraudes2425
    @andrewtraudes2425 2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

    That inlet port on the pump also acts as the exhaust port when it's blowing off excess pressure. If that hose is popped off, you'll notice the compressor is very loud both running and blowing off excess. You can always nip the end off the hose that connects to the pump, use an extension fitting, and just run a new portion of hose. The hose/filter combo runs about $150 so just replacing the broken bits is quite a bit cheaper. Buying a new filter and swapping that in (if you want) is also less than $10.

    • @slanina1
      @slanina1 ปีที่แล้ว

      Is it possible to replace just the inlet hose? I had the same issue and I cut it back and reconnected but a few months later the end dried up and crumbled again. I replaced the filter and the rest looks fine so it seems silly to spend $150 on the whole assembly when I just need the hose replaced.

    • @drscopeify
      @drscopeify 23 วันที่ผ่านมา

      My Gl450 was in the same shape the hose was broken at the bend so I just cut that bit off, got a new filter on Amazon for $10 or whatever and put it all back. It's a shame Mercedes did not use a metal piece or hard plastic for the bend that seems to be a very weak point on so many videos.

Compressor, 2. Strut but both no don't know for sure and obviously there is an expense involved which I want to avoid. Should I suggest the Mann filter change first or valve change or clean ? I have a Porsche Cayenne 2011 mod ... and I have problems :-)
    The car loses pressure on one wheel, sometimes on two, sometimes the rear wheels lift into the air and block everything ... sometimes everything is fine ..
    I bought that box with valves to change ..
    People tell me I can't do it alone because nitrogen is used in the system.
    How? when I also found a pipe that goes to the engine from the compressor .. which probably takes air ..

    Immediately after turning off the car .. I hear hiss sound and the front drops by like an inch or a little more.. it looks ugly!!! it is symmetrical but ugly .. where do you think the origin of the issue is? should I just change the filter you had in your hand? if I put soap on the body of the strut and find no air.. does it exclude a bad bladder issue? how do you check for the rear ones.. thanks again

    Is that really the air intake hose/to filter? I replaced mine yesterday, and while it was up in the air, I started the GL, the air compressor seemed to be pushing air OUT of the hose and into the filter. Again, with the hose DETACHED, it was pushing air OUT? I was so confused why it is pushing and into the filter and then out to atmosphere.

    Another common problem on this system is wiring. Inspect your wiring. Mercedes ran it too taut, and with movement creates chafing which leads to shorts and open circuits.
    If I had a 💵 for every time a valve block was changed, and it was actually the wiring.

      I’m no expert in the field, but have had a ML280 and now a GL320. The compressor on the ML when I first got it started making awful noise .. I changed it as it was the stock one (same compressor for 13 years..!) and now with the GL I had no problems so far as most of the airmatic stuff has been changed. Now in your case it can sound like the filter.. if nothing leaks and everything else is fine; that meaning also airlines are ok and in good shape, possibly your filter. I’ve learned with airmatic that it’s ruling out stuff and checking what works and what doesn’t 👍🏻 Hope this helps dude. I’m on constant search for videos to learn more about airmatic as it’s v pricy (especially here in Norway) and to be on top of the game I find it important to learn as much as I can about it as I love my GL and how these cars are 👍🏻👍🏻

    • @lynxstarautomotive208
      @lynxstarautomotive208 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      🙄 blind leading the blind. That is indeed the air intake hose. The filter at the top is the air filter for the compressor.
      The “exhaust” is the actual compressed air the compressor pumps into the system . It’s no different than an air compressor used to power tools and equipment. That port also serves as a system pressure relief for when the lowering command is issued. The same port is controlled by a solenoid. Power it one way and it lets air out, power it the opposite allows the compressor to intake air for compressing.
      Come on guys, this is not rocket science.

  • @DESIGNZIT56

    ...I noticed you said that the cracked and dry rotted hose was an intake for the compressor.... if you check the direction of the filter air flow on the hose it indicates an Exhaust hose , not Intake.... Check it on the filter and let me know if I am icorrect please

    • @maksimryabyy6004
      @maksimryabyy6004  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +Positive Person I noticed the same thing on a couple of GLs, it is definitely an intake hose for the compressor, but I do not know why the factory installs the filters backwards, if might have to do with how the filter is more efficient, or so it never uses a by-pass in the filter... Why would u replace the pump more than one time without replacing the control components for the pump if it was pumping just not shutting off? And ok, so u didn't test the original pump to see if it was bad or was it not shutting off so u figured ud just replace it? And ok either way, at least after replacing it then one would think there's no way ur next step wouldn't be to move on and start replacing the other parts in the circuit like sensors and relays that turn the pump on and off...not replace the pump a 2nd time...or 3, 4, 5 times. And replaced all ur struts/shocks, the most expensive parts first all the way around the vehicle for a pump that was just not shutting off? Like holy shit. I wouldn't recommend ever working on ur car urself again without practicing basic troubleshooting on a cheaper to repair electrictronically controlled piece of equipment of any kind or just a cheaper car maybe

      It’s actually does both vent and exhaust

      adam No it does not exhaust. The exhaust is the actual compressed air the compressor “pumps” out. The port is the air intake, for compressing, and the pressure relief for lowering the vehicle.
