"I had to go to goodreads and search for bad reviews to feel I am not crazy". See you sister and feel seen. The amount of shit that gets raging reviews in goodreads is always astounding. sometimes I feel we read completely different books
I've only read Final Girls by Riley Sager when I was like... 15? I was so uncomfortable with how the mc was written and instantly knew it was a male author lol
These books really didn’t want you to roast them but you persevered. Also, yes. I did look up how to spell persevered before I commented. Autocorrect wont be doing me dirty in 2025
I actually really liked the seven year slip but I can see where you’re coming from! I tried another one of her books (the dead romantics) and it was corny af, it ended up on my worst list 😭
If an author is desperate to not have their work spoiled, then they should put more of a focus on making a strong story overall instead of relying on a plot twist to do their work for them. A good plot twist can really add to a work, but it shouldn't be used as the ONLY thing going for it.
Riley Sager being a man is one of the most disappointing discoveries of my reading career. Like sir you can write female characters without hiding behind an androgynous pen name😭
10:58 THANK YOU! i think people have lost their damn minds to make this so highly rated. it really doesn't deserve ANY accolades and it's SO problematic.
Hahahahah I love you so much for the video! “This book should go missing” “I’m going to spoil it because how much you told me not to spoil it”😂😂❤❤❤ and the way you talk about books is sooo hilarious and you’re just being you. I love that about you Please stay being yourself cause nobody signed an NDA 😂😂 I can’t Thank you for sharing your thoughts, this is why we follow (or at least I do) Sending you love and hope you feel better 🤧 😔
Loved the video, however I personally really enjoyed Diavola BECAUSE of the horrible family dynamics 😅 Of course it's not really classical horror I guess.
🤢 It’s funny that you hated Diavola because I actually really liked it! I thought it was a lot of fun and all of the unlikable characters made for a bunch of enjoyable drama.
Same. I really loved it. And tbf the church scene makes sense. It's her sister who knew about the main character having had an abortion years ago. I loved the horrible family dynamics. Yes, the ghost isn't the worst thing of this book and I love stories like that.
To be fair to Riley Sager, it was either his agent or publisher who pushed him to use a pen name, he wanted to publish under his own name but he had a couple books out under it that hadn’t done well and publishing is just weird about stuff like that? Like it was deliberate but I wouldn’t put the bulk of the blame on him, and he also hasn’t been anything other than open about his real gender since fairly early on in his Riley Sager career. That having been said his books aren’t very good are they!! 🤧 Also, your alternate titles knocked me out. Sometimes the only way to deal with a book that wasted your time is SALT.
I've never read Tiffany Reisz but I remember when Romancelandia Twitter adored her work. So thank you for the heads-up to avoid her work. Also. One True Loves made me furious when I read it years ago.
I just started this video and was totally about to check out your first worst book earlier today, but something told me not to. Seeing it on your list shows me I dodged a bullet! Haha
I love a bit of magical realism even if it doesn't make sense (is it supposed to?) so I quite liked both the seven year slip and the wishing game. I am generally not a fan of people repeatedly saying the same thing to hammer home an idea (like watercolours under the nails to signify being artistic) so majorly agree with that sentiment. I read Poston's a novel love story and enjoyed it a lot except for the last 15-20 pages which I have decided to excise from my memory. I enjoy Poston's books mainly for the *vibe* and the magical realism elements. The wishing game age difference didn't bother me because Hugo didn't give creepy vibes when Lucy was young so if you're going to veto potential love from anyone you've ever met before you're a certain age... that might be unrealistic. She could have worked on trying to be his forever mum without sharing it so openly with him but I guess she was trying to misguidedly give him hope? Real life is fucking miserable so escaping every so often into a book like this makes my soul want to breathe again. Thanks for the video!
I understand and respect your feelings on the wishing game, but I read Meg Schaeffer’s most recent book, the lost story, and it was so good! I loved it and gave it five stars. I feel like it has more of the cozy, fun, lighthearted fantasy/magic vibe. It’s almost kind of chronicles of Narnia coded and there is a very cute romance that has so much yearning!
You’ve really put yourself through torture this year, thank you for the content 😋 What kinds of miserable, self-tormenting books will you read in 2025 I wonder..
Just found your channel. Subbed right away. I love booktubers that are just honest and to the point haha. Oh, btw, it is pronounced Ee-wan. It's Welsh.
NOOOOOOOO where were you two years ago when I wanted someone to spoil that damn twist in distorted? no one would post a spoiler and I was sooo very curious I eded up reading up to book 4. The don't get any better :))))))) also, I used to think Riley Sager was a woman before googling him so he did fool at least me for a while xD New follower, I really like how fast you talk. No bullshit just straight to the facts 🤣
🤧 Thank you for sacrificing your mental health (and wasting precious time) to read some of these shitty ass books 🫶🏻 This has been an incredibly entertaining video ❤
Oh, thank god! Someone else hates Local Woman Missing! The first two chapters are great but it's downhill from there. The two main women are also a special kind of stupid. Absolutely no survival instincts whatsoever.
7:12 THANK YOU. i fcking hated this book like why was there a random anti-choice sermon in the middle of a church in italy??? like i did not sign up for an annoying family drama.
Yeah, writers often write about sex too much IMHO. It seems really interesting while planning out the storyline but ultimately it doesn't support a whole novel. When it was prohibited to write such scenes more interest in them made sense but now it's kind of ho-hum yawn, yawn. Similarly, other writers are attracted to characters with mental problems. I know Shakespeare was. All of his major characters were a little crazy. Of course they were drunk a lot too as was presumably the author, but that's another story. Anyway, despite this video hope you had a good reading year.
Sara the way I genuinely forgot just how many bad romances you subjected yourself to for us that meant the door romance didn’t make the cut 😭
it's on the dishonorable mention list lol
The patron marking the book as read on audio is actually so funny 💀💀
"I had to go to goodreads and search for bad reviews to feel I am not crazy". See you sister and feel seen.
The amount of shit that gets raging reviews in goodreads is always astounding. sometimes I feel we read completely different books
Just did that last night on a book I finished. Like I can't be the only one who goes....this is so disconnected with no real plot ...
Love the alternative titles! Didn't notice they weren't the titles at first because I'm dumb. You deserve an award for getting through these books. 🤢
Thank you for spoiling that book at the end, that author really needs to touch some grass
As always loving the alternate titles 😂
Ugh also reminding me of my extreme dislike for The Wishing Game I blocked it from my memory
So bad!!
i love the way you describe these books and the new titles 🤣🤣
that turkey book 💀😵
i love the way how fast you speak it itches my brain in the right way
The cover of the turkey one is legit creepy.
Don’t worry, girl, I also thought the Seven Year Slip was pretty trash lol
I've only read Final Girls by Riley Sager when I was like... 15? I was so uncomfortable with how the mc was written and instantly knew it was a male author lol
Thank you for fighting in the trenches to get through these books 🫡 The alternative titles are amazing and I hope you feel better soon 🤧
Get well soon! 🤧 Your commentary on these books was top tier! The Seven Year Slip was so bad, thank you for validating my experience lol
THE TURKEY ONE, LMAOOOO-- gives me flashback to that "Falling for the Coronavirus" smut book. Truly, a sight to behold. XDDD
These books really didn’t want you to roast them but you persevered. Also, yes. I did look up how to spell persevered before I commented. Autocorrect wont be doing me dirty in 2025

I just got over having the flu 🤒 I hope you feel better soon! Don't torture yourself too much for us in 2025 😜
Pls do more alt titles ur so good at it. I didn’t understand any of these books
Loved the video, however I personally really enjoyed Diavola BECAUSE of the horrible family dynamics 😅 Of course it's not really classical horror I guess.
Me too! I was cracking up reading it lmao
🤢

Yeah this every interview I've read he's been forthcoming about his gender identity
Lmao the spoiling at the end 😆
I feel you with the seven year slip… I thought I was one of the only ones who hated that book!
I've never read Tiffany Reisz but I remember when Romancelandia Twitter adored her work. So thank you for the heads-up to avoid her work.
Also. One True Loves made me furious when I read it years ago.
Loved the Seven Year Slip. It's a phenomenal book, lol
To each their own I guess 😂
I just started this video and was totally about to check out your first worst book earlier today, but something told me not to. Seeing it on your list shows me I dodged a bullet! Haha
You do so much for us. 🤧🤧
you 1 minute into the video: I'd recommend yellowjackets
me: immediately paused this and has been binging yellowjackets for the past 3 days
It's so good!!!
@ almost done with season two and I’m not good at waiting 😵💫

Great video. Lord of the flies I gotta check out.the turkey one sounds so disturbing lol. 🦃📚☕👻🦇
Do ppl realize magical realism is like . the stuff is just there you don’t need to explain or give rules to the magic I swear im insane
Nyla K wrote the best and worst book for me in 2024. Her title Push make me so f- mad. I want the 11hrs of my life back. Great video!
You’ve really put yourself through torture this year, thank you for the content 😋
What kinds of miserable, self-tormenting books will you read in 2025 I wonder..
There will inevitably be some but 2025 is the year of finding joy ✨
@ I think you’re a year too late 😭
@@SnakeMilk lmao okay i edited it to 2025
the alternative titles 😭
I really liked Seven year slip lol
It’s not my fav but I didn’t hate it 😂
I really loved Meg Shaffer's new book, "The Lost Story," was really good so I'm disappointed about "The Wishing Game!"
We all know what you do to yourself for this channel, so I expect only the worst of books 😂
😅😂
Just found your channel. Subbed right away. I love booktubers that are just honest and to the point haha. Oh, btw, it is pronounced Ee-wan. It's Welsh.

can we PLEASE stop using mental health as a twist in the year of our lord 2025 🤦♀️
S.J. Watson is a man, his name is Steven and for some reason it makes sense that he is a Steven, don't ask my why.
🤧 Thank you for sacrificing your mental health (and wasting precious time) to read some of these shitty ass books 🫶🏻 This has been an incredibly entertaining video ❤

Thankkkkkkk you I had to DNF local woman
Not your first book on here being my number 1 book for 2024 😢
What kind of title is "what are you doing step bro?"??? Who let that be published?
That was a title Sara called it 😂 the actual title is Sicko, which isn’t much better tbh
@@MoonBoy317 OMG I'm so stupid. I'll let the door hit me in the ass on my way out 🙃🙃

You were doing the lords work by spoiling that book. I’m a better person for steering clear of that offensive trash 🫡
