Ustad Vilayat Khan Sahib Pandit Swapan Chawdhury Raga Saazgiri

Please note the sound quality may not be that great, but the recording is unique because there may not be a recording of Khan Sahib with Pandit Swapan Chawdhury. This paticular raga, created by Amir Khusrau sahib has not been played by any other artist as far as I know.

Thank you so much for sharing this rare raga. This Raag was created by Sufi Saint and poet Amir Khusrau. This is a combination of 4 raags Yaman, Puriya, Puravi & Bhatiyar. Ustad Vilayat Khan Saab had created a wonderful composition of 14.5 beats on this raag. I have heard Ustad Shujaat Hussain Khan playing that composition. It's terrific. My pranam to Ustad Vilayat Khan for his magic with the Sitar.

Swapan Chaudhry is a good tablist, but hi's bayan speaks like a dholak, and not suitable for this particular performance. Nvertheless a sterling piece. The fluency and quickness of thought in Khan Sahib's taanas is amazing.
