So weird to see the building going on right after WWI and before WWII, especially the school or whatever that huge brick building is. Born and raised in Waukegan. Left when I was 18, only been back for high school reunions. Used to be a wonderful town. So sad what's happened to it.

Racist much? 79% where do you get your information from? Nobody calls it lil Mexico, unless you are some kind of dumb racist and believe that everyone is Mexican. Where do you even get your information from as far as population? maybe do some research before spool your hate over a race, because you sound like an idiot. The population of Waukegan, IL is 55.4% Hispanic or Latino, 19.8% White Alone, and 17% Black or African American Alone. 88,000 people live in Waukegan and multiple races call it home.

Moved to Arizona “AJ”, a crap wasteland. Came back home. Do not take your city for granted it is beautiful, giant, has much to offer compared to other parts of the US that cannot compare.

I liked the C&NW Streamliner going past the station named "Asbestos", which was located by the Johns-Manville plant at Greenwood Ave. It lasted as a named spot until the 1960's.

It's called progress. When we see these old movies we think, "That's how it IS supposed to be!" Maybe it was supposed to be, back in 1940. What we have now are memories reminding us of how it was and wishing we could go back to our childhood days we see Waukegan as destroyed. Progress moved in and renewed everything. I appreciate the things we have as memorizes, but in reality, I like things the way they are now (political squabbling and mud slinging aside). I like having a TV, movie projector, tape recorder, slide rule, calculator, map book, camera, moving picture camera, encyclopedia, AND a telephone all in one shirt pocket sized package. Things used to be good, but progress changes things every day. Just because Waukeganites are not who Waukeganites used to be doesn't make them any less of a Waukeganite. Things change. That's progress. Some of us have died, some have moved, few remain, but all of us remember Waukegan the way it "used to be"
