Don't forget about the whole Capcom using unlicensed reference materials in their games after a data leak dumped high resolution assets. The Surfaces image library of reference textures had been used by them for years on multiple projects, all without licensing it from the original rights holder. It was pretty damning, since not only were many obviously taken from the reference material, but they even kept the original file names from the original CD source (that's how the right's holder tracked down a lot of the infringements). Most likely it was a case of the art teams making the assumption that if the art was available for reference, that they had the license to use it and no-one bothered to look into it. It's very probable that this sort situation has happened a bunch of times, but it's not noticed because the people that would recognize the art aren't playing the games.

It likely just removed the UI option to choose. The game doesn't make you choose anyways, it's just an optional choice. The game defaults to your chosen body type's gender. After creating your character, there's just an optional prompt if you wish to change the pronoun from the default, so I'm imagining they just removed that prompt.

I think the piracy of games is illegal not so much the emulator themselves. They are using their own IP and yes, some if not most consoles do use emulation. If the games are more accessible for purchase, I'd gladly pay for them but, there are some that are either region locked or no longer sold anywhere.
Technically as far as I can tell, nothing that Nintendo did was illegal per se but it's simply the hypocrisy that they showed by very strenuously denouncing emulation and then going on to profit off of emulation. It also doesn't look good that they would often send cease and desist letters to developers of these emulators only to then steal their software. Before someone says that the developers stole Nintendo's content first, they did not, they just simply created a software that enabled others but did not do so themselves.

Modders can do what they want, but website owners also can do what they want and not allow something that purely exists due to bigotry to be in their platform. the starfield mod still works and is available been using it and just added it to my kids pc.
also its far more thin skinned to care how others mod a game that only effects them.

Okay, I’d heard about the “pronoun controversy” before, and I still don’t get it. One person wants pronouns, one doesn’t. One has it in their game, one takes it out. It should be simple. And the one who removes it isn’t necessarily a bigot, they could just not want to have it in their game, or not deal with politics.
And the site taking it down, for “inclusivity” is beyond idiotic. You can give everyone (and thing) giant, bare breasts and testicles; make it so you can slaughter children; but don’t EVER touch the pronouns. Either take a meaningful stand, or don’t ban anything, your hypocrisy is showing. And to everyone who will, doubtlessly, call me a bigot or some other stupidity, just know one thing: I Don’t Care. Not about which pronoun you want to use, I’ll call you whichever one you want. Not about the addition, or removal, of pronouns in a game, I’m all for more options for more people. What I DO care about is the rampant hypocrisy and double standards that are being shown in both the list entry, and the actual “embarrassment” that actually occurred. Now I wonder if anyone wants to leave a thoughtful response, and not just spit hate, from either end of the argument.

Why do you people even care what mods people make? It's not like anyone cares about the depravity of what some skyrim mods do. It's so perplexing sometimes.
I think the piracy of games is illegal not so much the emulator themselves. They are using their own IP and yes, some if not most consoles do use emulation. If the games are more accessible for purchase, I'd gladly pay for them but, there are some that are either region locked or no longer sold anywhere.
Technically as far as I can tell, nothing that Nintendo did was illegal per se but it's simply the hypocrisy that they showed by very strenuously denouncing emulation and then going on to profit off of emulation.
It also doesn't look good that they would often send cease and desist letters to developers of these emulators only to then steal their software.
Before someone says that the developers stole Nintendo's content first, they did not, they just simply created a software that enabled others but did not do so themselves.

I think the Star Field modder wasn't wrong. They modded the game they wanted it. Is that not what a modder does?
The mod existed purely due to bigotry. The site that removed it has anti hate/anti bigotry rules.
Modders can do what they want, but website owners also can do what they want and not allow something that purely exists due to bigotry to be in their platform.
Since people tend to get racism better, consider a mod created by a white supremist that removes the option to change skin colour. Or a mode that makes all good characters white, all enemies black skinned. Can you see the issue for such a mod existing on a site that doesn't allow bigotry...?
@@hefoxedI have to say there is a big difference on that though. Skin colour is a real thing, there are different skin colour and we are born with that. There are only two genders and they/them is a made up gender so it’s completely different.
Removing a made up thing isn’t bigotry, it’s what the modder wanted in his own right. For example I don’t agree with made up pronouns but I can’t stop people from using them just like they can’t stop me from not going along with them
@@ShazmanRit was one option in a menu before you even started the game. The modder should should have ignored it as it wasn't a forced choice, but that would require an emotional and mental maturity that bigots don't possess. The hatred was the point of that mod
