When you summarized it at the end by saying, "Just because something may work doesnt mean God is calling you to do it," it made me think about King Saul offering the burnt offering in place of the prophet Samuel. I'm sure that he figured that waiting 7 days for Samuel was long enough and that he would be at a disadvantage strategically if he waited any longet - not imagining that he was ultimately forfeiting all God had in store for him by doing so. I'm not a church leader, but I imagine situations arise in leadership where waiting on the Lord may seem disadvantageous if we are just looking at our typical worldly metrics of what we think works best.
This hits super close to home for me in all ways. I think this is my favorite episode. I have asked the same questions as Dave & this was refreshing, relatable & really good listening. Great job guys. Thanks for your ministries. ❤
Modern church's follow formulas, often becoming cliche, like traditional churches before them. "Ripped jeans, large screens and smoke machines," can work just like Catholic incense and holy water. Is God involved in the formula? I don't know, but we will know them by their fruits. Great podcast, love the conversation!
