My mom gets me a new puzzle like this for Christmas every year. I usually have them solved within minutes, but this year I got this puzzle and I gotta say, it is by far the most difficult I've ever done. It took me a total of 11 hours to solve. Let me tell you, when I got that first piece off, the amount of satisfaction and joy I felt was incredible.. I had to find a video showing how to solve it just to see if I did it right. I'm only watching the first half of this video as I now have to figure out how to put it back together. But I am going to wait till tomorrow to try. I don't want to just put it back together from memory. I want to figure it out on my own.
I got an Enigma puzzle a couple years ago as a gift and have had it on my desk ever since unsolved. Your video (with frequent stop-back-repeat) makes the solution clear. Thanks much.
Yes! My husband bought one about 6 years ago. We both tried for MONTHS to figure it out, but since then it's been sitting in a drawer. Now I can FINALLY solve it!
Thanks! Nice exposition. There are two orientations. This starts with one piece flipped from the other orientation. I was stuck for a day or two until I found your solution. Worked like a charm! And for those here who are stuck because a piece is flipped, just look for the solution from Mr. Puzzle for the other orientation.
Not only a great solve of a great puzzle, but a fantastic explanation! I took mine apart and left it apart for about 3 years, and forgot what the original position was... now I have it! Thanks!
Just needed a hint, thanks! The spacing on mine was messed up evidently and the very first move you showed in the video, was not possible without excessive force so I just assumed it was not the correct way. Now that I know, I spread the gap a little and can continue my efforts with no more hint hopefully!
I want to congratulate you for solving the Enigma puzzle. I've been grappling with it for a few weeks and it's quite a challenge. NOT gonn watch the solution video, though, unless/until I solve it!
holy mother of god... how do people invent such puzzles?! that is awesome. the video explains the mechanism really well, nontheless i am baffled by the puzzle
According to the note that came in the box with mine, it was discovered in the US back in 1974. They thought it to be impossible, but eventually they took the design, made it larger, and sold it as the cast piece you see in the video. Or that is all just marketing wank. Who knows?
My father-in-law Eldon Vaughn invented this puzzle. I am actually putting away a bunch of his Enigma’s right now. :-) His originals and a later version that is a resin plastic that is beautifully colored. He was a genius and a wonderful man. I appreciate you all for keeping his memory and legacy alive!
I forced it a bit and managed to glitch it in an illegal configuration. That made taking it back apart even more challenging - I took inspiration from this video to eventually sort it out :😂
I failed completely, and after months, looked up the solution in another video, which claimed it required force! I thought the puzzle had cheated me, but then I found this video, and you explained it so well, and it required no force... I feel a bit embarrassed how badly I did, but thanks so much for posting this. I'm glad I looked it up again.
I don't know where I went wrong. I was following the steps but I somehow ended up with pieces backwards and I can neither finish putting it back together nor take it back apart. I am beyond stuck...
I am here to NOT watch the solution. I own the Delta (level 3?), and solved it easily within ten minutes of starting. The Enigma is the second of this puzzle series that I’ve obtained, and I’ve had it for several weeks and still have not solved it. I’m going to give myself a little more time before I give up and resort to watching this solution; but I’m glad to see that it’s here in case I need it. Thanks. P.S. Get the Delta. It may be easy, but it is SO MUCH FUN to take apart and put back together!
This took me at least 12 hours to take apart (Total) and I managed to put it together. But with every piece in the incorrect orientation, apparently I had done it the way which "Puzzle Guy" did. So I finally decided to watch the video, but I don't plan on messing with this puzzle again, if I'm honest it seems a bit too obvious as what to do and it's rather repetitive with that one piece which you slide the Hanayama piece and the long curved loop piece. Yes it took almost half a day total, but it didn't take long to see what I had to do.
Yeah mine does not do that. The last move to get it apart I can't get mine to do that last pass before you line up the slot with the solid piece. The one I have just doesn't have enough clearance. It gets bound up and no amount of wiggling and moving will allow it to by pass freely. I was starting to get really pissed because I already had the Hanayama piece off but those two just couldn't/wouldn't come apart. I'm just happy to know that I had it right but the puzzle itself was causing the interference.
Man I love this puzzle but my one issue is that some of the moves don’t feel promising unless the angle is PERFECT so it’s like you tend to not try certain things
I think your initial position is actually wrong, making the puzzle rather easy(definitely not a level6). The middle piece is upside down in your vid I’m afraid.
I appreciate the tutorial but the one thing that would've made this much easier to follow was less twisting and jiggling of the pieces unnecessarily. Thank you again though
I've managed to get my middle piece on backwards when I was putting things back together and now I can't seem to get the pieces back apart. Is there any advice you can give or any demonstrations out there to help fix this so I can reset my puzzle properly?
Yes, this puzzle is definitely tough and can get tangled up. There are a couple of other puzzles that are better for getting started that you can't really tangle up beyond recognition. I recommend cylinder (amzn.to/2HpN19D) and Padlock (amzn.to/2HXxomG) Both are challenging, but don't get tangled up too much.
Eric Buffington yea I mean I still got it done but It took so long Haha also thanks for replying most people would delete the comment so your already better than most in my book also I subscribed

Yea great video buuuuuuutttt, i think my puzzle broke, but not physically, like the peices are in the wrong places

Amazing job! These puzzles are definitely tough!
I know it's been four years, but the hourglass is the most difficult puzzle I've done if you haven't tried it. Good luck!

Love this one. It's one of the best puzzles around, together with the Cast Elk.
I like both of those puzzles for sure!
I bought one for a friend we were working for hours and bc of this vid we solved it thx to help 😊❤

i had spent 3 years on this puzzle thank you for shong me how to solve it
Glad I could help!

that's the beauty of human minds among other animals.

@@markotsuji4023 my girlfriend hates your father in law for inventing this puzzle :D it is such a brilliant design, very mind boggling
God is allah not mother no. Son no father
That's amazing! There are multiple ways to achieve this puzzle!
But yours is so elegant ...
I forced it a bit and managed to glitch it in an illegal configuration. That made taking it back apart even more challenging - I took inspiration from this video to eventually sort it out :😂
THANK YOOUUUUUUU, ive had this 4 1 year, and then ive been looking for videos. Only yours matches mine wtf!!!!!!! Im glad
So glad it helped!
It’s challenging enough just following along with this video. I can’t imagine figuring it out from scratch.
I failed completely, and after months, looked up the solution in another video, which claimed it required force! My dad has been working on this puzzle for DAYS. I sat down and got it apart and I was glad to find this video to put it back together for my dad. c:
ha ha! I'm glad you found the video too! :)
You did the video perfectly. Everything is clearly visible in stop-motion. Thank you very much.
Roland Illig Thanks for the comment! I'm glad it was helpful for you!
Very good explanation, because all rotations are explained always relative to the center piece "base". This keeps it clear.
Thanks! Glad that explanation worked for you! :)
I don't know where I went wrong. I was following the steps but I somehow ended up with pieces backwards and I can neither finish putting it back together nor take it back apart. I am beyond stuck...
Same here buddy, my luzzpr has the pieces i the wrong places
The video is opposite!! Lol
I did that too. I watched the video for inspiration on moves I haven't tried, and finally managed to get it apart and back together the right way 😅
We have a ton of these at work. No way I would solve that one. Thanks for the video! I'll try to learn it now.
Good luck with it! I have a bunch more videos on puzzles that you can solve at work to impress your boss. :)

I also don't like the idea that it can be put together in the incorrect position.
Thank goodness I found this video, my gosh I can finally sleep
preach
Same
Jamil Ortiz Yeah,me tooo
Same
Mine will NOT make the move you are doing at about the 1:15 mark. is it possible I have a bent or defective piece?
Thanks man i really needed this bcus i woudnt stop until i finished it
Great video.
thanks!
watch this video with your eyes closed lmao
lol that would be pretty awesome! :)
Yeah mine does not do that. The last move to get it apart I can't get mine to do that last pass before you line up the slot with the solid piece. The one I have just doesn't have enough clearance. Yeah, sounds like it might be that. The puzzle needs to be exactly right as the pieces don't have much wiggle room
Amazing Tutorial, here I am thinking that I broke it and made it impossible, then I watched this and saw that I actually did it right.
That's amazing! Great job!
I got thw bottle opener off but the super long tail one is like flipped on it. I cant get it off and if anyone can help please do
Watch near the end of the video when one is removed, that should hopefully help! :)
I can solve that in 5 seconds! With a pipe cutter...
lol yeah!
rkshireygames I got a hydraulic press with a wedge on it it should solve it in no time, break out the brass solder to put it back together
😂
Do it in one cut
Is this video mirrored? My puzzle is completely opposite from yours?
I filmed it just as it is. It's not mirrored. Perhaps they are making different versions of the puzzle. I don't know.
Thx so mutch that was fun going along with you
I got the puzzle apart say myself, but I can't for the life of me get it back together.
That's usually how it goes for me lol!
I have this exact puzzle but it is stuck in a different position then shown on thi video.
I love these types of puzzles
This is still one of my favorites! Love it!
Thanks for the help bro
No problem. :)
your like a freaking genies thanks for helping me
Wait there is different versions of this same puzzle?
what a genious riddle, SPOILER alarm ;_D
It's one of my favorites!
how did u get that first piece off
Magic!
My puzzle is messed up and I don't know how to get it back to the starting position
You can watch the video and see a point when it looks like what yours looks like. You can try that.
My messing around with it has somehow gotten the pieces backwards 😳🙄 still trying to solve it and I’ve owned it for 2 years lol.
If you got stuck with the second solution, which has opposite orientation, just watch the video using a mirror. You are welcome ;)
Thank you.
You are welcome!
Thanks this video was very clear, I solved it!
Nice job!
Man I love this puzzle but my one issue is that some of the moves don’t feel promising unless the angle is PERFECT so it’s like you tend to not try certain things
It is a fun one once you figure out the angle and I see where you are coming from.
Eric Buffington, I had no problem on this one. Can you help me with "The Incredible Giraffe Puzzle" before they commit me? Heck I need a specialist.
I found this puzzle required two different moves that needed a bit of force, pressure or flexing.
Not at all. He was too rough with the puzzle at those parts, but the puzzle does not require brute force.
Thanks
My enigma puzzle is screwed beyond solving. 😢😢😢
oh no!
I think your initial position is actually wrong, making the puzzle rather easy(definitely not a level6).
The middle piece is upside down in your vid I’m afraid.
stx333 it's right. But yours is wrong. Mine is also like yours probably
stx333 5
It's a level 5
I love it and hate it all at the same time😂😠
I know that feeling! :)
Thank you, floor.
I thought they were supposed to all pull apart :p
ha ha! If you're strong enough to do that, you are tougher than I am. :)
Eric Buffington they are supposed to pull all apart? i did it im confused😂
How the hell did he "roll it back" I want to crack my head by banging on the wall... More
I can't even reach the starting position, my lock is locked forever
I appreciate the tutorial but the one thing that would've made this much easier to follow was less twisting and jiggling of the pieces unnecessarily.
Thank you again though
Thanks for the tip! Happy puzzling!
thank you!
man, i knew something was wrong, my long piece is on backwards won't turn once i get both pieces on the base fml
Yup, that would do it. Glad this helped you find what was going wrong.
I've managed to get my middle piece on backwards when I was putting things back together and now I can't seem to get the pieces back apart. Is there any advice you can give or any demonstrations out there to help fix this so I can reset my puzzle properly?
@@DeathlyPlacebo Same here... I haven't been able to make any progress ever since.
My dumbass coworkers put the puzzle together wrong, so now I don't know how to fix it
I still need help I did mine wrong
Yes, this puzzle is definitely tough and can get tangled up. There are a couple of other puzzles that are better for getting started that you can't really tangle up beyond recognition. Eric Buffington thank you
This is insanely hard. I gave up after hours of trying because I have a life 😂
You really need better directions you shaking it like your having a seizure really doesn’t help at all at 4:02
this one felt tougher to solve than my level 6 puzzle........
That's like solving a Rubik's cube by taking off the stickers. Cheater!!! LOL
Eric Buffington your face is cheater
I watched the video and still can't do it. Lmao 🤣🤣🤣 I think I jammed my pieces together wrong. 🤷♂️🤦♂️
same lmao i got it apart but put it back wrong and now i can't fix it
Already solved it...I'm just looking for the video to see if you solved it the same way I solved it. 😏
Good job! Was it the same?
i can finally rest.
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
the base should be called the" TREBLE"!!!
That's true it does look like that. :) nice!
kanser / real hard :)
I got to a certain part without cheating but ive been stuck for an hour and my cousin just found me cheating 😂👎😬😱
oh no! Your sneaky cousin!
I lub this
It's a great puzzle! :)
who invented that?
michji2 your mom
Nah, she invented me only.
michji2 yup me and your mom invented you
With a view to on my high scores at IQ test's, I bet you had no participation in that event.
Eldon Vaughn.
I swore this puzzle was unsolvable
Свинья. Лишил ребёнка радости самому собрать.
I, I never did that.......
Slow the hell down
pause the hell up!
I think i messed up...my peices wont switch ajfgh
You move too fast
Sorry. In my more recent videos, I've tried to slow things down to show every step clearly so you could follow along with the video.
Eric Buffington yea I mean I still got it done but It took so long Haha also thanks for replying most people would delete the comment so your already better than most in my book also I subscribed
Wasnt helpful i legit got the first one of by messing around and second one when i was searching threw vid and toased down on bed
Y'all cheating 😂😂
What me? Never... :)
my cousin got this for me and i'm an idiot so im cheating lol
No worries! This one is super tough!
what's the point of looking up the solution to the puzzle? You've just wasted your money if you watch this and don't already know the solution
boring
