The Bengali word “Khyapa” meaning Who is king of his mind , Who lives in his own happiness . That is why the Bauls are called as Khyapa . Actually, we all want to get rid of this mechanical life. And Khyapa Bauls can do this. They know how to spend this life with joy , they know how to be reconciled to Supreme Power by surrendering themselves. In reality, Baul is a great witness to a great life. Baul Fakir is the name to lead a great life philosophy.
We the common people also call them Moner Manush , Volamon , Sahaj Manush , and Sadhu .
The Great Poet Rabindranath Tegore wrote
“ Khyapa tui aachhis aapon kheyel dhore ,
Je aase tori pashe , sabai haase dekhe tare .
Jagate je jar aachhe aapon kaaje dibanishi,
Tara paai na bujhe tui ki khunje khyepe bedas janom vo’re .”

The Baul Fakir learned the value of life from their Great Master ( Guru ) and they believe that the Guru is the absolute Primitive God( Brambha ) . The song contains everything taught to The Guru .
