Funny story that I have to tell. I was taking a nap and my Wife woke me up screaming, I've destroyed my car you need to call Honda to fix it right away. She proceeded to explain how it happen pulling out the garage, since I was still waking up everything went in one ear and out the other. I finally look at the car and laughed for five minutes explaining to her that I can easily fix this problem in 30 minutes or less once parts are ordered. She insist that I call the dealer to get a price and go through insurance company if needed. After she calmed down, I was able to get away to do some research on the PC and guess who video was the first one to pop up. After watching it completely, I asked her to watch it with me and she couldn't do nothing but laugh after the introductory stating that "the lady pulled out before the garage opened up". Thank you very much for the video because you saved me the leg work and we greatly appreciate it.
Haha! Yes indeed. When I first saw the damage I though oh boy, very expensive dealer repair. And I'm sure they would have charged at least $500 bucks. But it was so easy, after the fact. Those elusive part numbers were the hardest part. This kind of story is exactly why I was inspired to make the video. Made it worth while. Thanks for sharing your story.
Same story here. Lol. 2 years ago, someone fixed it for me by putting some apoxi glue. Unfortunately, that just broke today. I was exactly looking for that. Thanks for making it.
Great job on this Martin! My wife was happy to find out that she was in good company of those who also backed into the garage door on its way up. Every detail of your video was spot on and I was able to reattach the spoiler in no time! Thanks so much for taking the time to share this.
Bro! You just saved me so much money! Dealership told me I would need a new spoiler since their chart said it was not serviceable! Quoted me almost $600!! Thank you!! Liked, shared, favorite and comment! Thank you thank you thank you for making the video!!
I watched the video and I was surprised by three number of people who did exactly what my daughter did this morning which was backing up before garage door was all the way open. Your video was spot on and exactly what I needed. Thanks for doing the video
Very happy to hear so many people finding this video helpful after so many years. I'm sure Honda Corp has secretly hired a hit squad on me for denting they're profits. 😂
Thank you so much. That same thing happened to me. The garage door only opened 75% of the way and it looked clear to back out of the garage. Crash! What a surprise. I was told by the Honda dealer that these are not available and I'd have to replace the entire spoiler. Thanks for the parts numbers. This was an excellent video. Your step by step process is invaluable. You're the best!
So I completely identify with the little lady owner of vehicle in this video - did exact same thing - and I'll add the the word 'old' to the title - little 'old' lady at age 64. Thank you so so much for sharing this - I was able to re-attach my spoiler easily because of your video!
Hi Cindy! Happy to hear it helped you. Good for you for tackling the repair in your own! It's really pretty simple once you understand how it's attached. Take care!
I have an HRV and the same thing happened to me. I got the clips but I’m waiting for the hardware to complete the job. Great video and thank you for posting it!
I was charged $466 by Honda dealership to fix this. Ordered parts online and fixed it myself.. Wasn't too hard to install with this video. Many thanks to you!
My wife FINALLY broke the spell/streak of garage doors ripping off the spoiler!! Yesterday she mounted 2 bicycles to a bike rack but hooked the strap clips in the wrong spots. 40 mph and then.... Rrrrrip! A pretty wild moment. Thank you for your educational video saving us a lot of $$.
Lol this is exactly what happened to me and I am so grateful that you decided to make this video. The way you explain things are clear and to the point and now my CR-V looks like nothing has happened to it, thanks to you. The parts number you provided was also so helpful (found cheaper ones on Amazon). Kudos to you!!
This happen to me yesterday, I panicked at the beginning but after a while I was determined to get it fix , rush to the dealership and explained what happened, I have a pic and video and the guy said: I can sell you the clips $15 dollars each . I and I said : give me the parts name and number, I’m pretty sure they are available at a reasonable price online . Sure enough, got a package of 15 clips for $12 at Amazon, I know they are not the original parts but they do the job. I followed your instructions and done . I did it myself, no husband involved 😂. Thanks so much. Sorry for any miss spelling, I’m Cuban
So glad to hear Yanet! Yes. The Stealerships love overcharging for things like this. I'm surprised they even gave you the part numbers (though I do list then in my video). Good for you still!
That was very, very helpful. Our garage door did not go up completely as it is 8 degrees and my wife backed into it. This video was perfect!!! Thank you so much!
Thank you so much for posting this video. I backed my car into our garage door as well and has the exact same issue. Your video saved us 400$. Your detailed explanation gave us confidence that we could fix this issue ourselves and we did fix it. Can’t thank you enough.
This video saved me a trip to Honda dealership for a service and all the money I would've paid to them to fix this for me. Part number was very helpful too! I paid a CDN $21 for 10 clips from Amazon - while Honda Service/Parts asked me $25 for each - LOL .... Thank you very much!
Thank you so much for this! A limb came down and knocked our rear spoiler down. Thanks to you I had the part numbers and instructions. I got the clips from Amazon and the side bolts from where you got yours. The clips were a bit fussy about coming out but snapping it all back in went so smoothly. I didn’t even get a quote to get it fixed after reading comments here because of your video. Thanks again!
Perfect thank you! Had the exact same thing happen to me and I was looking for those side nuts that held it in. Couldn’t find the part # until your video and used it to get the spoiler back on. You’re the man!
I literally did the same thing and messed up my spoiler but I got some clips at autozone for 30 bucks and it had about 100 in it And thanks to you I found out it was possible to do it by myself and save me 195 dollars 🙏🏾🙏🏾 great video and true impact !!!
Martin, you are a lifesaver. I could not find the second part number (the Honda dealer only gave me the first one). Thanks for the detailed video. Nicely done!
I went to the Honda Dealer and they told me $165 labor plus $225 for a new spoiler....I was told it could not be fixed, but I was very lucky to find your video and I bought the same parts for $92 and fixed it in 10 minutes myself.....there was nothing wrong with my spoiler!! THANK YOU!
Thank you for this video, a friend just backed into her garage door and broke the spoiler off. Now I believe that I can get the parts and fix it for her after seeing your very helpful video. Thanks again.
I did exactly the same thing. I called a body shop and it was 6 weeks before I could take the car in and wondered if there might be a simple fix and found this video. Thanks for posting!
THANK YOU for sharing this video. I unfortunately did the exact same thing with my 2018 CR-V. It was an expensive mishap ($$$$ for garage door replacement), and your video saved me a trip to the dealership.
This has been extremely helpful! Thanks for uploading this video 🙏. I had the exact same problem with my Honda C-RV 2018. Reinstalled the tailgate spoiler with the part numbers you provided. Total cost of parts $128. I decided to DIY reinstall the spoiler after the dealer quoted an seemingly exorbitant price for this job. Also, shout out to engineers at Honda. They (unknowingly?) placed the failure points at strategic places instead of allowing the whole tailgate to rip out.
Thank you so much for this video, I was able to fix my car in like 20 mins. Took 2 trips to the Honda parts store though cause they had zero idea what I was talking about.
Thank you!!! Just the video I was hoping to find. We backed into a half-opened garage door this morning. I hope to get the parts soon and do it myself.
This also heppeded me , I did also broke my Honda CRV 2018 spoiler by hitting garage door , went Sever store to find parts including Honda services center but disappointed. Your video helped my identifying parts and fixing it ..Great video thank you so much for sharing.
Awesome. I just purchased a 2018 CR-V and the Spoiler is not tight so I assumed something small was broken in it. Your video was a great help for me to located the parts I need to fix it! Cheers
The red cover over the brake light also broke off some pieces on our CRV so I had to replace the light assembly. I could find almost no documentation about how to do that with our trim that looks like the video here. All of the video and instructions only seemed to use an ellipse shaped light with a clear cover. I was able to remove the broken red light assembly and replace it with a new one with the assistance of my local Honda dealership parts department. I wish I had taken video of the process to share since I couldn't find any help online but it was too late before that occurred to me. 1) Remove the 6-7 screws holding the black panel on the bottom part of the spoiler. 2) Near the middle, there are three parts where a nut needs to be removed with 8mm socket. These are primarily what holds the light assembly to the main spoiler piece. 3) Carefully pry off the flexible black plastic panel from the spoiler. For me there was a very thin foam padded strip that was sticking between the panel and the spoiler so that had to be unpeeled at some points. 4) Honda apparently also used some double-sided tape between the light assembly and the upper end of the spoiler. Use a sharp blade to slide along the gap to remove the tape. 5) You should be able to slide the light assembly forward out of the spoiler and replace with the new assembly. You may want to replace with new double-sided tape but I'm not sure if it's really needed because it's held in by the three 8mm bolts/nuts. This is definitely the best documentation I could find online but it didn't completely tell all of the instructions: www.bernardiparts.com/Images/Install/2020_CRV_TailgateSpoiler_AII12509-21.pdf
Thank you so much for this video. It made me feel better about my run in with the Garage door lol. I was able to get the clips cheaper from Amazon for about $18 (not oem) and the bolt things at the local dealer. The rep was nice to check for coupons for me and I paid less than $10 for both. Blessings
Am I the only one that backed into wood hanging out of my dads truck (that had a red rag on it btw) and not hit a garage door? Lol. I have 2019 CRV. Thanks for the video. Saving me some $$. Waiting for my parts to come in.
Fantastic. Just what I needed to see. My Mrs had the same issue this morning. Except I have to do the upper brake light too. Of course I can't find just the lens. Oh well. Thanks!
Hey Martin, Thank you for posting this video and sharing the details on the Part#s. I had a similar incident with my garage door, its amazing how often this thing happens and was able to fix my Back Tale spoiler for my Honda CRV 2022 model by seeing this video in Australia. If anyone wants to know where to source the parts in Australia please DM me separately, I can share the links to the ebay link/s to buy the parts.
Hello Pratap, Same happend to my CRV 2022, can you share the part numbers so I can search it in Canada. Also do you have pictures when it broke? as mine broke slightly differently than shown in this video. Many thanks
Very good video. I have 2018 CRV and exact same problem. But still trying to figure out the location of two side bolts. Will try again in a couple of days when temperatures go up to comfortable levels. For now I have taped the spoiler so it stays in place. My spoiler is intact on left side and clips on right and middle were broken
Thank you for the video, this was perfect. Can you please make a video of how to find the SKU numbers of the parts, I am trying to find the tailgate molding assembly retainer clips and garnish part numbers and am not able to find the correct part number.
Super helpful! We have to replace the wire as well which is part 3163-TLA-000 for my 2018 CR-V (the wire duct taped in the video). At least replacing it with the snap connections should be very easy when that part comes in stock at the Honda dealership. Kind of crazy that the whole wire is only a few dollars more than one of the OEM plastic clips.
Hello, Jeff. Unfortunately, this happened to me today as well. Looks like my wire also broke and need to buy it. Would you mind providing the information of where you purchased it, and any tips to make the replacement easier? Thank you very much!
@@MultiSo3 - the wire was surprisingly very cheap compared to the cost of the small plastic clips. I ended up buying from my local dealership and it was under $20. And swapping out the wire was really easy. To remove the old wire completely, use needle nose pliers to make sure the small lever that holds the wire connector in place is pushed in so it should slide out pretty easily.
@@jeffanderson7665 - late response here, but I thank you for the reply and guidance. I was able to get it done successfully. I'll be sure to pay more attention to the darn garage door going forward 😅
Same thing happen to me today but my hose broke for the water and also the the wire that connects brake light .the piket t stayed in the harness that inside the body but the the wires came out so do you have the part numbers for both ? Mine 2018 crv too. Greatly appreciate your help. Need the part number where the water hose connects and the part number for the wolire that connects to the harness for the brake light?
Thanks for this great video Martin. I am going to try this on my CRV. How did you reconnect the rear washer fluid pipe? Mine is disconnected it seems and i saw yours was too in the video
Hi Kidd! Your welcome. I believe that little rubber hose just slides onto a small round plastic pipe on the spoiler. If you don't see it may have snapped off?
do you know the part number for the windshield fluid hose? mine completely broke. Thanks, awesome video i was gonna buy the whole thing but i just need clips so this is good.
This is hilarious because my wife did the exact same thing today in the exact same manner and she drives an identical 2018 Honda CRV in white with the same wheels.
Hi Kay. If replacing with a new spoiler, you would need to disconnect that black rubber piece. But otherwise no, didn't need to remove (if fact that power wire and the water hose were the only things holding the spoiler onto the car with all the clips broken). Fast forward to segment 9 minutes 30 seconds, and you'll see how that rubber circle connects (very easy to connect and disconnect). Hope this helps.
If I'm not mistaken. Those seal strips are parts #20 and #21 in the following link: www.alldiscountparts.com/v-2018-honda-cr-v--lx--2-4l-l4-gas/body-air-conditioning--tailgate

Excellent! Happy to hear saved your family some 💸 😄
Thanks Martin. Honda quoted 750$ to fix this. Luckily watched your video and did it myself with less than 50$. 😊

THANK YOU for sharing this video. I unfortunately did the exact same thing with my 2018 CR-V. It was an expensive mishap ($$$$ for garage door replacement), and your video saved me a trip to the dealership.
My little lady did the same thing today! Thank you so much for documenting this
You are so welcome!
Super helpful! Saved me a ton of stress after a tree branch fell on mine and broke the clips
Awesome! Happy to hear it Luke.
Thank you so much for the parts numbers! My dealership was going to charge me $20 each for the clips. I found them online for $10! Cheers!
Right on!

thank you so much! this video is a life saver. my spoiler had a few pieces broken and hurricane Grace finished the job. ordering parts right now.
Glad it helped!
Thank you so much for this video, I was able to fix my car in like 20 mins. Took 2 trips to the Honda parts store though cause they had zero idea what I was talking about.
😂 not surprised
Thanks for this video. I have same problem atm and looking on how to DIY. Someone told me i need to replace the whole thing😤 Thank u so much
Thank you!!! Just the video I was hoping to find. We backed into a half-opened garage door this morning. I hope to get the parts soon and do it myself.
Good luck! You certainly CAN do it yourself. Parts procurement is the rate limiting step.
Thank you so much!!! I got exactly same problem (garage door, too😁), and, hopefully, I’ll save few hundreds bucks - thanks to your video!🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
This also heppeded me , I did also broke my Honda CRV 2018 spoiler by hitting garage door , went Sever store to find parts including Honda services center but disappointed. Your video helped my identifying parts and fixing it ..Great video thank you so much for sharing.

For those who also need to replace the brake light wire, part is called: 32163-TLA-000 Sub-Wire, High Mount Stop Light
You’re the real MVP friend. Second time my wife does this and this time the brake wire snapped 🤦🏽♂️
Thank you so much. I got the same issue. Your video helps. Going to order and do it myself.
Awesome opossum! Let me know how it's turns out ok?!
Wife just backed into the garage before it fully opened. Nice surprise at 7AM. Got the parts off Amazon, except the two side screws/clips.
Hope it went smoothly! If it's not too much trouble, please click subscribe and I'll get a free nickels for my efforts. Have a great day!
Awesome. I just purchased a 2018 CR-V and the Spoiler is not tight so I assumed something small was broken in it. Your video was a great help for me to located the parts I need to fix it! Cheers
Glad it was helpful Greg! Thanks!
You saved me! Thank you! I did exactly the same thing, except backing INTO the garage
The red cover over the brake light also broke off some pieces on our CRV so I had to replace the light assembly. 3) Carefully pry off the flexible black plastic panel from the spoiler. For me there was a very thin foam padded strip that was sticking between the panel and the spoiler so that had to be unpeeled at some points.

Wow. Great instructions. Thanks so much for sharing!
I just did this yesterday. Thanks for the video. I'll order parts myself
Same exact story. Thanks for the info. You probably saved me about $500.
Thank you so much for this video. It made me feel better about my run in with the Garage door lol. I was able to get the clips cheaper from Amazon for about $18 (not oem) and the bolt things at the local dealer. The rep was nice to check for coupons for me and I paid less than $10 for both. Where did you find the 90308 nut garnish on Amazon? Every other place takes too long to deliver
Am I the only one that backed into wood hanging out of my dads truck (that had a red rag on it btw) and not hit a garage door? Lol.
I have 2019 CRV. Thanks for the video. Saving me some $$. Waiting for my parts to come in.
Haha. Could happen to anyone. Glad this was helpful! Good luck!
Saved my day! Dealer insisted on selling me the whole thing with the fasteners.

Yeah those Stealers are something else... always looking to make the straightforward a complex issue. Smoke and mirrors my friend. Keep your loot. 😆
Great job thank you. I surgically removed my spoiler with the garage door as well. It came off easily :-)
Fantastic. Just what I needed to see. My Mrs had the same issue this morning. Except I have to do the upper brake light too. Of course I can't find just the lens. Oh well. Thanks!
Hello Greg, if possible, please share the part number or name for upper break light red cover?
Happy to hear Greg. How did it go? If you found any other useful part numbers please share here for others.
Brother, thank you for the video. Very helpful and detailed.
Great thanks, I have a 2017 CR-V model, it happend to me as well. Will try to replace them at all.
Good luck!
Hey Martin, Thank you for posting this video and sharing the details on the Part#s. I had a similar incident with my garage door, its amazing how often this thing happens and was able to fix my Back Tale spoiler for my Honda CRV 2022 model by seeing this video in Australia. Hi Pratap. Awesome to hear this was helpful eben all the way Down Under! Thanks for your posting.
Thanks so much for the video and parts information. My wife also did some trick driving involving the garage door.
Your very welcome. Happy to hear it was helpful!
Thank you very much for this video and the part numbers!!!
Thanks a lot! Your video saved me $850.😅😅
You are welcome!
Good luck!

I will try! check out the link in post above. might help.
Samething happened to my crv
and I followed what you have done haha
thanks a lot very helpful!
You're welcome!
Super helpful! We have to replace the wire as well which is part 3163-TLA-000 for my 2018 CR-V (the wire duct taped in the video). At least replacing it with the snap connections should be very easy when that part comes in stock at the Honda dealership. Really glad to hear Jeff. Your most welcome. And thanks for those super useful part numbers!
Great video, my 16yr old daughter and I thank you!!!!

Mine 2018 crv too. Greatly appreciate your help. Need the part number where the water hose connects and the part number for the wolire that connects to the harness for the brake light?

Awesome! Great to hear!
You’re the man!
Thanks brother!
@@loboazul001 The rubber is snapped off and the plastic attached to it seems to be broken. Do you have the part number for it and have u replaced it?
Thank you, this was helpful
You're welcome! Thanks for watching.
Thank you so much for your vedio. it really helped me with the same issue.👍
do you know the part number for the windshield fluid hose? mine completely broke. Thanks, awesome video i was gonna buy the whole thing but i just need clips so this is good.

maybe this part? Although I can't be 100% sure.
The real question is how do you REMOVE the spoiler if all those clips are permanent? 😬
Thank you so much. It was really helpful.
You're welcome!
Can the rear spoiler be removed without breaking the clips? I’m thinking of painting and would rather have it removed…
Not sure. Try doing my steps backwards
Did you figure it out? I’m doing a mod too and need to remove it without breaking it. I’ll probably check the blow up of the parts manual.
“You are my life saver ” my fiancé said 😂
Thank you so much! Glad it helped. If I may bother you for a subscribe click I may get a few nickels for the effort. Either way thank you.
This is hilarious because my wife did the exact same thing today in the exact same manner and she drives an identical 2018 Honda CRV in white with the same wheels.
Haha. I knew there was an immediate need for this video when it happened. Glad it was useful. Happy savings!
Did you have to remove the wire or open up the part connected to the black circle rubber seal in the middle to open it up completely?
Hope this helps.
do you think i can re-use those spoiler clips? I still have 4 of them and hoping i can still use it.
Yes. If not broken. Should be reusable. They're not cheap. But others have found at auto store for much less... generics. As long as they work right?
Whats the function of hose? Mine broken all the way so i see flat base on the button where the hose connects. Do u happen to the part no.
Pretty sure that's for the rear wiper fluid. I'm not sure if the part number.. I'll try to find out.
Hey VJ...were you able to find the part and able to install it? i have the same issue
At 7:00, does anyone know what the name of the part that below the clips and connects the tube is?
Thanks brother for the video help’s save money
You bet! Glad it helped!
Thanks for your video
Most welcome
I just used your video to fix my CRV 's spoiler and. Thanks to you I have saved $700. Awesome help.
Did anybody replace the seal strips as well?
If I'm not mistaken. Those seal strips are parts #20 and #21 in the following link: www.alldiscountparts.com/v-2018-honda-cr-v--lx--2-4l-l4-gas/body-air-conditioning--tailgate
