I’m only a couple weeks off wheat but my chronic joint pain is gone, migraines gone, swelling, bloating and terrible gas gone, way more energy and no more constant runny nose. Amazing! I’m never going back to eating wheat. Also, my mood is drastically improved which has really surprised me! I eat eggs, butter, meat, green veggies and fruit. That’s it for me. My cravings are gone too and my appetite is very controlled.

Great to know. How long did it take for you to notice changes ? I've started a gluten free diet one week ago, because of gerd and mucus in the throat. It improved a bit during the first three days, but since two days it came back. Not in a hard way but still a little bit. So I'm a bit confused and I just want to know if it's a normal thing to have little relapses

My lower back and neck were slowly getting stiffer and difficult to move too! My doctor wrote it off to age. I refused to accept this. I'm quite the athlete and felt something was wrong. Nobody believed me because of how fit and athletic I look.
After going mostly GF, one day I noticed I could move again. It was a true miracle.
I read any grain including rice, can trigger a gluten sensitivity response. This is becoming a huge endeavour.

I watched this video. Maybe it's just how the wheat here is made in North America and not gluten related. Could be the pesticides they put in it, GMO, or other reasons. The reason I mention this is because this issue seems way more common in North America, but yet gluten is in wheat in other countries as well.

Physician here. There is NO specific test for nonceliac wheat sensitivity. It is what is known as a diagnosis of exclusion, i.e., after celiac disease is excluded and then the patient’s symptoms improve or resolve after going gluten free. So first celiac disease must be excluded. This requires a small bowel biopsy by endoscopy and adjunctive blood tests. The biopsy is the pivotal test not the blood tests. Going gluten free before the blood tests is a problem because it can cause a false negative blood test in someone who has celiac disease. This is why you must see a competent gastroenterologist BEFORE going gluten free. It is estimated that ~470 million people worldwide have one of several wheat related illnesses: eosinophilic esophagitis, celiac disease, nonceliac wheat sensitivity, wheat anaphylaxis, and wheat ataxia.

Thanks for explaining! My celiac test was negative, but turns out I’m allergic to wheat, corn, barley, and rye per the IgE test, so I always implore people not to rule an issue out if they’re not celiac and still having symptoms.

Celiac is only considered if your antibody levels are greater than 10. However, any result above zero is an antibody response! And Celiac tests can vary. My doctor has found that she often needs to do repeat tests on those she suspects of having Celiac, before they finally get a positive result.

Thanks for sharing, great story and am glad you took the challenge head on and had great results! This stuff is so Toxic to majority of population but so many are unaware.
Just a heads up, Gluten does not always cause digestive issues or symptoms. I am fortunate to have been diagnosed with Coeliac Disease and have never had issue with my stomach or digestive system. I have had more behavioral issues almost ADD and no weight gain since high school 30years ago.
If people reading this have any Autoimmune diseases (list is huge), behavioral traits, Autism, adhd, add, Dementia/ Alzheimer etc PLEASE get tested for Celiac Disease, but if negative then test yourself for Non Celiac Gluten Sensitivity (NCGS). I am so lucky (strange i know) i have Celiac because it was a clean cut diagnosis, i feel for people with NCGS because trying to get someone to cut Gluten out of their diet for 60days is a MAMMOTH task, but WELL WELL worth it. Good luck

    My experience mirrors this.
Slender when young. Gradual weight gain that could be controlled with exercise in 20s. Then a MASSIVE weight gain in 30s along the onset of chronic diarrhoea.. Coincidentally at that point I'd got a house and was eating a LOT more wheat.
Fast forward to 42. Exercising regularly, eating healthy and down to 1 meal a day and a snack. Became anaemic and didn't lose a pound despite cycling over 300 miles per month.
Become fatigued, got a serious infection that required hospital.
Broad range antibiotics destroyed my gut biome. After the course the chronic diarrhoea and bloating became untenable.
Stopped eating and just had rice noodles and vege for a week.
All my symptoms stopped and I felt a million times better.
I'm early on in my journey (3 weeks) but I feel amazing

I feel like i spend all my time on the lap top researching all the shit that is wrong with me. And im beginning to wonder what if its all because of gluten. All the arrows are pointing this way. If it is then I have spent a good portion of my life dodging issues that were basically gluten issues. I was raised on cheap gluten. My mom basically dosed me daily with flour tortillas and cheese cause it was cheap and she didn’t know any better. It’s not her fault. I’m beginning to think that is why she had so many issues as well. But not the same ones I had. She was more anxiety, paranoia, addictions. Mine were more autoimmune, shyness, and brain fog. What if,,…. And i mean what if.. all the problems or many of them, of society today are somehow related to gluten issues. The drug addictions, personality disorders, basic confusions of who we are, are related to this very pervasive ingredient. I mean are we all really inherently f’d up as humans. How could we all have gone so wrong. I’d like to think there is something to blame. We are products of nature, nature is supposed to be divinely wise, yet here we are, f’d up as all can be. Riddle me that.

Ive been gluten free for just over two weeks now. I was diagnosed with IBS and struggled more and more with it as the years progressed. Then i developed other health issues like, B12 deficiency, increase eye problems such as blurry vision, and especially night blindness!! I havent been able to drive after dark for years! Also, I started noticing my stomach wasnt digesting food properly. I found most foods would cause me a lot of gas , stomach and bowel issues. Then 2 years ago i started with hip issues. It continued to get worse, so that i couldnt continue to work. I had xrays, CT scans, and seen doctors. The pain went from both hips, to my knees, then my feet!! I was told i have developed arthritis in my joints. I got to the point when even getting into bed hurt so badly. I was awake through the nights with constant pain. Out of desperation, I thought i should try a completely gluten free diet because i did notice after eating products containing flour , my stomach was having a hard time. Just over 2 weeks ago of this gf diet, i just cant believe the difference!!! The pain has reduced by 90 % !! No more gas, my eye sight is much clearer and the biggest thing that amazed me tonight is that I went outside after dark and I can see!!! I actual went for a drive around my small town and I could see the lines on the road a way head!! Everything seems so bright!! I am in complete shock!!! I can't wait to see what the next couple more months are going to bring!! I would have never believed that i would be able to have a change in my health like this in a million years! I urge everyone with health issues similar to mine to please just try it!! 🎉

For those of you watching searching for information: please don't go gluten free without getting tested for Celiac - they have to confirm with endoscopy & biopsy not just blood test. Once you go GF you really can't get tested as testing currently it requires gluten consumption to be accurate. I'm gluten intolerant and a National Celiac Foundation State Advocate. There are serious related conditions for this disease including cancer and it's so important that you have the right information about your health to do proper follow up screening and care. My Celiac diagnosis was missed and I would not survive a gluten challenge. Best I can do is advise others. 80% of Celiacs are undiagnosed.❤️

It feels like my life is over, I cannot eat, go out, do anything or even work from the stomach pain. they told me the damage is too much to be healed up so I am looking at a constant life of pain and doctors appointments just for not being diagnose on time. If you go gluten free and your symptoms disappear then it makes no difference whether or not you have a diagnosis of anything. Listen to your body and live your life just like you are doing. Best of luck to you.

Good video! I am Celiac and went 67 years without a diagnosis! Did you know that over 80% of people who have gluten sensitivity go undiagnosed??? What a medical failure in my opinion that you and I suffered for so long because they didn't do genetic testing!! However, all grains contain forms of gluten. Rice contains Orzenin and Corn contains Zein. Look it up. God bless!

I just had a positive test for coeliac a week ago and my endoscopy is going to take a few months to come through. Iv been totally gluten free for 3 days and back pain and neck pain is subsiding. Il be back on the gluten again in a few weeks once it's closer to my appointment. Just glad I think iv finally got to the bottom of the pain after 9 excruciating months!. Good luck on your journey x

Thanks for asking! I notice everyone’s different. For me it’s not so bad if it’s “processed in the same facility” etc. but i wouldn’t eat dumpling soup with dumplings inside if that makes sense. I do wonder how careful I need to be now it’s been a year. I haven’t tried risking it yet 😅

One more comment: Rice does not contain gluten. It is safe for celiac patients and those with wheat related conditions. Oats are naturally gluten free. However, because some companies process oats in a facility where wheat is processed if you are wheat sensitive then you should choose certified gluten free oats. Do not go gluten free without seeing your physician and a competent gastroenterologist who performs small bowel biopsy via endoscopy. Otherwise you are guessing and going gluten free can have consequences and may require consultation with a nutritionist depending on your level of knowledge.
