I’m using the pages from all my unfinished notebooks and cutting them down to fit into my rings planner as notes pages. So I’m sticking to my rings plus a blank notebook and that’s it. It’ll allow me the flexibility I desire for keeping my set up and resources minimal and intentional

Three years ago, I decided not to buy anymore stickers or washy tape until I use what I already have. It was very hard in the beginning, but I feel so good about my decision now having so much sometimes you forget what you have it’s almost like rediscovering lost treasure..
Thank you so much for addressing this. I have been doing the decorative planning since 2018, and the money that I have spent on all the “must haves” is almost sickening.
It’s so easy to get in the “I gotta have it all mindset”.
Hey, Brittany! 💜 Glad you discussed this. I'm trying to get more into planning, and the amount of products out there is overwhelming. This message is also true for many other things - all of the fancy budget binders and savings challengess; clothes/shoes/accessories; skin/makeup/hair products; food, etc. Our society is based on consumerism. I want to make more of a conscious effort moving forward to use what I have before buying more.
So true! The budget binders and supplies always make me scratch my head. Why are people wasting money to save money?
LOL! I just edited a video that will be up today making very similar remarks. Girl, when are we going to learn to stop this madness, haha! I counted 12 notebooks that I purchased this year. 2024 is an end to planner consumerism for me!

These are great ideas! Thanks for the video. I have started unsubscribing from some TH-camrs also . Some always seem to show new products; planners, pens, etc… bad trigger for me. I would prefer seeing more of how they use what they have instead of being like a spokesperson for a brand. I always enjoy your videos because you are creative in showing how you use your things. I’m on board with this! I just organized and destashed a bunch of my planner supplies, and if I didn’t buy one thing I have more than a year’s worth of supplies. I’m buying nothing until next Black Friday.

So I bought a B6 journal last month but I have been doing good this month.. so far.
You are not alone, I too have purchased too many stationary supplies. This year I am keeping it simple and am going to "shop my stash." I already started unsubscribing to stationary shop emails.
This year, I left Hobonichi and am trying the Aura Estelle Catch All A6. So far, this is working for me. I am also using the Traveler's Diary for my Daily Gratitude practice and weekly prayer.

I have been simplifying everything in my life especially since moving from De to Ak lol but I just have four covers, two I need to sell because I switched sizes after years of using a5. I found it helpful to keep all my stationery in a set of 3 smallish trunks and that’s all the real estate I get for it. But I do need to stop buying sticky notes, pens, pencils and paper. Another thing that helps is creating a wish list and letting things sit on it because you might end up changing your mind. Saved me hundreds of $$$ by doing this.
I had to play this twice it was so good. I wrote down all your points and starting January 1st, I will be participating in your No Spend challenge.
I haven't really taken the consumerism thing too seriously, but your video has really made me think. I love that you are offering practical advice on focus and wellness in regards to using our supplies. I have seen that a lot of people are very anxious about their planner plans, etc, so including the use of our stationary as a form of self care/wellness is spot on.
But most importantly , I am so impressed that you're walking the walk, too. This isn't just the flavor of the day video, but something you are investing in and even having a talk with your family so they know your expectations was kind of sobering to hear (I may have to dialog with my family too). Going so far as to encourage us check in on your Community tab weekly to motivate each other is really touching. I will try to do this as well. Anyways, bravo on posting this video!

i think that a no spend month is helpfull but what really helps is do it for much longer. use your stash and the money that you save goes to debt. paying debt of is so important.

I do have multiple journals that have different purposes that I’m sticking with BUT I’m not buying any more notebooks, planners, pens, ink, stickers, stamps, etc. for January and beyond! I’m going to follow the rules! Thank you. Your nails are beautiful.😊
I bought both a Weeks and a Sterling Ink weeks size notebook so I’m struggling with which one to use and what to do with the other one.

I bought the 2 most expensive planners I have ever purchased so I really need or want to cut my spending next year!
One planner is the midori hibino! Ive never spend over like 15 dollars for a planner! I also picked up the PAL planner at Yoseka.

2024 I will start doing a stationery project pan to utilize what I already have and trying to make my stationery to work and useful for my planning. I hope this will let me not buy and stuff more items in my 2024 collection.

That's wild....I have a problem with Ballpoint pens, Roller pens, & Gel pens, I spent over $200 on all varieties of pens...in a month, easily
Zebra Sarasa, Zgrip, Uniball all versions, Sharpies all versions, Pentels all varieties, Pilots , Bics, Pigma's , Papermate , jotters , muji collection, Studio BP pens, General Supply BP , Staples brand BP pens, Needle tip roller ball Pens, Staedtler Pens, 4 Colour Retractable Pens, Poppin Gel Luxe Retractable Pens, etc etc....lol
...and I store them away in a 68liter / 18 Gallon bin, for a rainy day...lol
Well guess what...The rain ain't coming for another 6 months, cause its the first day of winter..and my bin is 1/2 way full of hundreds of pens..

Trust me, I've bought a lot of pens too. If I like a new gel pen, I tend to buy several backup pens. Just in case the manufacturer decides to stop making them. 😩
And lol at the rainy day that will never come. 😅

I have two planners that I need to sell. I've been holding off because I love the paper in both, but they are dated 2024, and I don't have a use for two more planners; I hardly have enough going on in my life for one planner (lol). We won't discuss how many covers I have...sigh...
Babyyyyy I been in the community since 2014 and I’ve accumulated so much stuff. I’m thankful that I have been able to destash and sell, but I have to reel it back this year! I do I need to buy one more a5, but I’m doing a purge of books from 2023 because I’m determined not to bring “old one rug” into 2024. Oh, I'm sorry. The planner that I was using in this video is a Sterling Ink Common Planner Weeks (Horizontal version). It's very similar to the Hobonichi Weeks but better in some ways. I pulled out some of my washi tape from couple years ago and , yeah was hard to get of roll and just shredded.😢. So sad, was a waste. Im on no buy for a year! LOL. And i still wont go through it all

I plan on using everything that I have in my lineup as stated except for my Hobonichi Weeks, but I will repurpose it.
I threw away the last of my stickers and washi a few months ago - some really old stuff from 2018 or 2019. Haven't bought more.
I gave up the planner consumerism only after stepping away from IG. TH-cam doesn't move as fast, or create the FOMO for me.
I was subscribed to the CoffeeMonsterzCo snail mail; and boy I have way washi I would ever use.
