Oh man, I remember my first time going into port Ormos. I was so enamored with the music that I couldn't believe it. And then *THAT PART* came on and I just stood still, forgot about the quest, and jammed with the music.
Yu-Peng Chen is one of the goats hands down. His knowledge of music from all different types of cultures is so vast, the man is an absolute genius. He's up there with yoko shimomura, yasunori mitsuda, nobuo uematsu, etc as one of the best video game composers for sure.
Tabla, setar, and flute are very common in Indian traditional music. You can hear 3 of them very clearly. Music started with tabla. I guess Hoyoverse released a night heme for port Ormos. Hear that too. Also, you can find the original music video with all the instruments playing.
It's always fun watching musicians react to these themes and seeing what it stirs up within them. Both versions have this depth of history and strength that is inspiring to me. The night version is contemplative, and the day version becomes so open and wide at its climax that it took my breath away when I first heard it. Thank you for sharing your reaction! (: Will be tuning in again in the future
i absolutely love this theme! it's my favourite in all of genshin so far. it reminds me of all the times i used to go with my mom to the wet market during early sunday mornings, and the sun rising on the marketplace as she negotiated deals with the sellers.
Haha your smile as soon as you started the track, very on point for the general vibe this track gives off. This is honestly the most relaxing tune in Genshin for me, and especially the Tablas and Sumeru OST having other 'hand driven' drums gives off a very relaxing and earthy vibe. If you do want to listen to more Sumeru OST, I would highly recommend watching the two soundtracks that they showed off as a live orchestral performance from Sumeru since many of the instruments used in this region's OSTs you might not recognize and seeing them visually might give more context
If you want a really emotional ost, you should check out For riddles, For wonders. My favorite track out of the whole game and never fails to make me tear up.
It's just a pure traditional Indian instrumental track. The precccission is Tabla, woodwind is Indian flute and that crisp string instrument is sitar... 3 most important Indian instruments. And then there is the usual string section too
Could you do Jolts in the Forest or Inevitable Conflict next? I think you would love them. Jolts im the Forest is an awesome battle theme from Sumeru (I think its one of the best, if not the best one). Inevitavle combat I believe it is another battle theme but it is from the Chasm Region of Liyue.
If you did not listen to it yet I recommend you the Enkanomya Battle Theme from this game, a masterpiece too (here is the link for it: th-cam.com/video/lE3WyuXNkUc/w-d-xo.htmlsi=CCcPGzTI3gG0UWHO)
What you should 100% react to is the Honkai Star Rail Departure Festival. It’s a game release celebration concert where they play many of the songs live (well…live but not live if you know what I mean). It’s so beautiful and powerful that it’s crazy. th-cam.com/users/liveBLyOaD38tpA?feature=share Definitely an awesome thing to do as a celebration video for something, or just if you feel like recording a 30+ minute video of nonstop top tier HoYoVerse music
Hoyoverse: its just a port in sumeru..
Yu-Peng Chen: anyway I started blasting
🤣🤣🤣 he always delivers

1:12 that’s actually Sumeru City. It’s used as the cover art for many of the Sumeru soundtracks
It's officially used as the cover art for all the tracks in that album.

It's sitar not setar
музыкальные темы сумеру это что-то невероятное, я так в восторге с чего-то нового в геншине
тема порт Ормос лучшая из всех для меня
It's always fun watching musicians react to these themes and seeing what it stirs up within them.

The reason i chill at port ormos most of the time

I recommend checking Enkanomiya ost too, for example "Hope or Nostalgia" gives me chills every time i hear it
It's just a pure traditional Indian instrumental track. The precccission is Tabla, woodwind is Indian flute and that crisp string instrument is sitar... 3 most important Indian instruments.
And then there is the usual string section too
If you enjoy port ormos. I also recommend you another sumeru music. It’s called “Whirling of leaves and petals”, it’s a city theme. For sumeru.
Halcyon Times is another Sumeru track that i absolutely adore. For me it's on the same level as Beneath the mask from Persona 5
Good on ya to get the Night theme too. The reaction isn't complete without the Night version.
I recommend you to watch the MV for port ormos day ost it's beautiful
I can hear this song all day everyday
Great analysis not just into the composition of music but also the underlying culture that the music is rooted from!
Ho... Hoyo Mix has such more hidden pearls hidden around...
Enkanomya Ost totaly worth it to give a peek!
Honkai Impact Ost also have some epic ones!
Jolts in the Forest and Gilded Runner are great battle themes from the game.
id love to see your reaction on another genshin music video called "Sumeru live Symphony"

This track is purely an Indian classical music with santur blended in. You misunderstood it as middle east
