- Today, or rather October 7, which I'm pretty sure it technically is now in Japan, marks the 20th anniversary of the first airing of the F-Zero: Falcon Densetsu anime.
So this actually began as a little side project way back in 2018 that I just never really finished until now. At the time, I had been struggling to find motivation musically, especially after some difficulty regarding future licensing with Nintendo. Initially, I just felt like redoing the alternate race theme from F-Zero Climax, and that's what I started with, but I tried to make it sound more like the anime version (not sure if it was written for Climax, then adapted for the anime or vice versa, but Falcon Densetsu came out first), then I decided I wanted to do the Black Shadow tune from the anime as well, just for fun. I had played around with a few things that were synth only, but never really finalized any of them, it was mostly just learning how to handle that stuff more effectively. Both of these tracks then led to the idea of just doing a full Falcon Densetsu Medley, though it was originally just going to consist primarily of guitar tracks. I recorded most of it in 2018, at least the more guitar-driven parts, a majority of the synth only tracks were actually put together more recently because I felt like the couple of them that I already had kind of stuck out in a weird way and adding more would be a good way to give the whole thing some variety. I actually thought it would be neat if I got the track length up to around 22 minutes or so, the length of an actual episode, and that's pretty much where it ended up. The fact that a full soundtrack of the series was never released in any way is ridiculous because what's there is really good and I wanted to recreate as much of that as accurately as I could, which was challenging since I basically just had to find snippets from actual episodes and try to pick out the notes behind all the dialogue and sound effects. Of course, this doesn't include the iconic opening theme, The Meaning of Truth, or any of the vocal songs, but again, the intent here was to focus on the actual in-episode music that never got released. I wasn't sure if I'd ever finish the whole thing, then noticed that the 20th anniversary of the anime's premiere was coming up, so I started working on it more seriously again after years of just occasional tinkering here and there. I put a lot of time and effort into this, even late last night, I was still tweaking a few things and could probably do so forever. I'm generally not a big anime guy, but I consider myself to be a massive fan of F-Zero and along with the release of Climax in Japan shortly after, Falcon Densetsu was really kind of the last brand new thing we got from the series, until recently anyway, so I hope fellow fans of the games, the anime, or both enjoy this.

This is excellent stuff man! It's good to finally hear what these tracks sound like without all the background noise, lol. Could we maybe get a track list with timestamps in the description/comments for easier navigation of the video?
Actually, I guess the tricky part with that would be having names for these tracks to begin with.
