    I'm heading out to be a sere instructor october 27'th and i would like to add a few things to this.
    250m swim, (free style swim, no back stroke allowed)
    1.5mile run 10:45 or less.
    pullups 12 (past 90 degree's) in two minutes
    pushups 56, (past 90* ) and close to locked in two minutes
    situps 65 in two minutes, hands cross chest touching shoulders. only have to come up tell elbows touch thigh's. You can rest in the upright possition but no more then 5 seconds.
    I hope this helped

    If you train just to make this test you wont make the cut in the course itself. They will smoke you, right after a cross fit session then make you run at the Cadre's pace which is roughly a 7 minute mile pace. Doesn't sound like much but you'd be surprised.

    correction...
    200m swim (free style, side stroke, breast stroke only)
    1.5 mile run no more than 11:00
    8 pull ups fully locking elbows out
    48 push-ups touching chest to the ground 2:00 ( no bowing in the upright position)
    48 situps hands behind the head, fingers interlocked, and you have to have your head come all the way through your knees.
    That is verbatim from the actual worksheet. Follow the video exactly how it says and exaggerate everything.

    Pace yourself! One test deals with a heavy backpack and several flights of stairs,.................lock your knees,steady breathing,...toughest part,physically! The rest is stamina,........and determination! They know what there looking for! Women respond better to female instructors,...it’s not an absolute.....but under heavy stress! Let’s just say........There counseling and toughness inspires all! Especially the men! It’s Tough as you may expect! Women can be trained as well as men! However there’s much to learn. Confidence is built into the training! The teaching part,...you start as a junior instructor .....work with seasoned instructors. It’s a team effort! I shook quite a bit. Nervous energy....turned into a passion for teaching! It works,......and people respond to someone giving there all! When you speak to one! You maybe heard by all! Know what the F*** your talking about! Or you look like a fool! Hard to erase in the world of training! Makes us all look foolish! Ya keep that in mind! Even off duty!

    Oh man, I figured this was the video.
    I remember this day, friggin' memories. I can't get over how the Cadre smiles in the video. Makes me think of when he popped out of the school house with that smile screaming "drop". Ahhhh, the memories.

    dude that happens to me too, i did already my initial PAST. it was well till i got to the pushups cause i struggle too,but i passed it!.. i do 200 pushups minimum daily, as fast as i can( generally 30 per set) or i do those same 200 but perfect ones(touching chest-floor, in 20 reps at a time) if you can do more do it. dont fool yourself, when you dont feel your arms, thats when it starts to count! you can do it !!

    It’s the ability to teach that separates this field from any other. Yes we must be physically,..........it’s the mental ability to empathize....push,.....teach,.....CONSTANTLY! We are on the move,...just walking we teach and look for any opportunity to expand there knowledge. Under stress we remember better. It’s amazing what you remember............for years! Airman! What would you prefer? A Knife? Or An Axe? Before I could react. AXE! You can perform surgery with an axe,.....but ya can’t chop a tree down with a knife! 3 second lesson....it’s been over 30 years! And of course it’s quite true! Been chopping wood for a while now,..my job to keep the wood box full..as a kid! Minnesota....that’s a lot wood! Double bit axe! One side thin for slicing other side thicker...chopping side! Love them old logging axes! Others...just thin both sides,...and some what disposable. On occasion. You find old rusty axe heads! Barn finds. Hatchet? Please,..all but useless.....pound stakes,...split little stuff. Get an AXE! Now we can build something!

    I used to be a wilderness guide and would love this. My recruiter told me about this job yesterday. Problem is, I have -9 vision on both eyes, no eye disease. Its correctable. Maybe I have a chance..? Might as well work for outward bound if I don't qualify for this.

    Basic screws you over for this but if you help your Team and they help you and keep in mind that you live exercise to exercise and hour to hour you'll make it. Don't quit. Never quit. Take it from someone who didn't listen to his own advice. I hate that I didn't make it but I wouldn't trade my experience for anything. HOOYAH FALLEN BROTHERS!

    Ummm... I got down all the calisthenics easy. I started running 1.5 mile in like 11:45 and now do it UNDER 9:30. 500 meter swim I started at like 15 minutes, and am down about 10:25. I'm going for Ironman scores. Swim time is the only thing I need to improve on now. Don't try? Sorry, that's the mentality of a loser, I'm not gonna just try, I WILL achieve my goal. I'll keep you updated.

    I read on gosere.com, that you have to have both eyes at 20/20 vision. What if one eye is like 20/25. Will that prevent someone from being selected for the training.

    What is the main reason for SERE?

    • @OctoBrushy
      @OctoBrushy 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +connor curtis SERE means Survival, Evasion, Resistance, and Escape. It's goal is to teach how to survive in the wilderness after something bad would happen (I.E a plane or jet crashes and the crew must survive in a forest)

    Which career field does it required a woman to be in the PAST test, like the one in this video? Not to be sexist or anything, but isn't the PAST test for Airmen trying to get into the USAF Spec Forces career field? Which only recruits men?

    • @tyer1997
      @tyer1997 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      This is SERE. But DoD opened up combat jobs to all genders in 2015. How they test and what standards they meet are decided by the branch and the group. As far as I know women have to meet the same standards as the men in AF Special Forces.

      Ron Smith as far as I know, the swim is in 10:00 pass or fail, run is in under 11:00, 8 Pull Ups, 48 Push Ups, 48 Sit Ups. I might be wrong, check Google

      @@dinodon4994 … whatever is published on the website now is minimum. You need to exceed the minimums. If all you do is pass the minimum, it’s a given you’ll be dropped. There are too many candidates that will give it everything they have to advance in the pipeline.

    So I'm curious. Each branch has the option of a 4-year enlistment contract, with some having options for fewer, all having options for more, and so on, with those going to special forces usually having to extend that contract. I read somewhere that a 4 year contract would give a recruit the possibility of getting into any specialty (so long as they qualify, there's spots available, etc.) and I imagine one trying to be a CTT or PJ would have to extend it, I wonder if the same would go for SERE specialists?

    • @cultural_lettuce1
      @cultural_lettuce1 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      i don't know but I can tell you they have a 6 year contract for SERE specialist, with a 40,000$ bonus upon completion.
