      Yesss! So many brands only do dark shades with red undertones. I have olive skin, so I can totally relate to how bad the wrong undertone looks, but ofcourse I'm white, so I don't experience not being able to find my shade/undertone anywhere near melanin rich people. It's so cool to see a brand actually being inclusive. Since I don't experience not being able to find my shade like people who have dark skin, it always surprises me how little brands are actually inclusive. It's always been pretty obvious at the drugstore, but I honestly thought more brands were inclusive because I see their initial ad, I don't see what they actually offer in store, or how bad the undertones are (sometimes), so it honestly just makes me sad that not everyone can shop for makeup at the drugstore, or even at more expensive stores like Sephora. I know makeup isn't a necessity, but for me it really has helped me see my beauty, and express myself, and its sad that not everyone has the same opportunity to play with makeup.
      Sorry, super long rant🤣🤷‍♀️

The point I'm trying to make is not to take away important achievements made for marginalised groups of people and give them to people who just care about monetary gain and popularity. I'm a white woman but I remember how hard it actually was getting into makeup with little to no guidance and, to put it mildly, having no clue what colours fit or even suit me. And this was my experience while being able to walk into any drug store and to try out shades of foundation and concealer for vaguely affordable prices (to back then teenage me).
    I can't even imagine how disheartening it must be to walk into the makeup aisle and not see one shade that is even remotely close to my own skin tone. I probably wouldn't have continued my makeup efforts, so it brings me great joy to see brands be more and more inclusive towards people of colour, therefore making makeup more accessible to everyone.

    I’m a medium skin toned white woman but am so happy to see more shades for darker completed women. More so than foundation, I would imagine it’s about inclusion. I remember when I was younger, there was just one little makeup section aimed at brown skinned customers and now as an adult, it’s really sad to think back on and to realize that even still, all ethnic skin toned are just being recognized and celebrated. You such have beautiful skin! I have had acne my whole life and don’t know how I would have dealt with that without the help of foundation. Even my tinted medication and tinted moisturizer comes in one shade. I can see why you teared up- wow has the beauty industry failed to include all of the beautiful people.

    Girl your skin is absolutely stunning. Wow. Such a beautiful glow, too, you could be a model for skincare companies. How do you keep your skin so clear and hydrated? You are truly stunning. ♥️ I’m loving how companies are beginning to see how every person is different and their shade range should reflect that. Props to Lady Gaga’s new line for being inclusive, as all brands should be.

    I respect this lady. I hate it when people are like “this is inclusive” or “this is not inclusive” or even “this is unacceptable!” Since makeup companies don’t really care. They just want money. But she is so calm but informative about this. She’s not complaining that there hasn’t been a shade this dark before. Thank you. 💕

    • @amirahal-wehbi
      @amirahal-wehbi ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It’s not companies overlooking “POC” (🙄 that term).
      Most ppl aren’t super dark or super pale. If you look at the world, most ppl, including the new buzz term “people of color “ are either just fair to dark caramel color. So brands market to the majority because they know their products will be bought.
      Not everything is to dismiss “ppl of color” 🙄 as ivory is a color, just like ebony is a color and light and dark browns are colors. Majority of ppl just aren’t that far on the spectrum.
      It’s nice however to see companies learning how to get those undertones in pale and deep shades instead of just making every pale with pink undertones and every deep with red undertones.

  • @quirky6334

    This is cool because there are other brands that try to expand there range and don't always get it right, but also not every brand that tries necessarily has a formula that agrees with the skin type. There are brands that may have some darker colors but might look patchy, dry, don't blend well, wrong undertones, etc. So darker skin people have to do more shopping around than usual even with the expansion of shade ranges. Not every formula has a one size fits all finish.

    As someone whose very pale, i kinda sorta do. The lightest shade isnt light enough, it comes out orange or just looks weird. When i do find my shade it doesn't match my skin texture and gets flaky or settles in my creases 😮‍💨 i don't want to pay $40 for foundation tho lol
    I might give haus labs a try if its not super expensive and has like a serum sunscreen maybe maybe. 51 shades says (everyone deserves to find their match because you're born this way ❤) only fountain i ever really liked was tarte Amazon clay with sunscreen. It had this pretty shimmer that covered my scars and actually matched me. I would get the smaller $15 tubes. It was worth it, then they changed the formula and i gave up. I miss mineral powders sometimes tho but have a hard time finding them. I always wanted to try Indian Earth, its a mineral and is supposed to be great for blush and eyeshadow

    There's something so wholesome about seeing you get a shade that's too dark
    Idk if that makes sense, but someone like me with skin the colour of snow, I've always had foundation too dark, and so it's so wonderful that finally there's a foundation range on some products where darker skin tones can not have to worry about everything being too light, and can experience shades darker than your own , therefore proving the range!
