This week i went out for a bushcraft canoe camp with Ben. We had a great paddle in the mist and then trekked to a pine woods i scouted out on google satellite.
The trip was awesome and it was as great as ever to spend some time in the outdoors practising knife and axe skills aswell as a bit of cooking!
We cooked a whole chicken on a spit and had the classic egg bacon and cheese for breakfast.
Back out where i enjoy being the most.... sleeping under a tarp in the trees. Shinrinyoku..(forest bathing).. its great for the soul!

Plow point with a wall - give it a name - never seen that configuration but will definitely be using it on my next camp.
Lighting that featherstick directly with the ferro was pretty nifty

Seasoned pine is passable, green pine will have a dirty sooty smoke to it that will taint food (similar to a pine tea, but way stronger).

The wood for cooking thing is simply the fact is that pine burns dirty. Notice when you start a pine fire the smoke goes from gray with a wisp of black. That black is creosote witch bad tasting in my opinion. Another great video fellas!

Awesome way to spend Christmas Eve, and yet another section of river I recognise, some cracking FC woodland round there too, not too far from some of the MTB trails I’ve ridden. Just mind that sandy track just up the way from where you’ve parked, I nearly got flattened by a runaway horse last time I was up there. 😆

Many years ago whilst camping in the woods if we suspected rain and didn't have a comunial parachute to sit under with our fire ,we set an old small tarp just above head height above the fire ,that use to really help. Ps that fox barking sounded very much like a Muntjack barking to me ,but I could be wrong, once again a brilliant video

Hi mate great video, slowly working my way through them. This one I enjoyed the idea of jumping in a canoe and paddling off somewhere I like that. The tarp set ups you both did for ground dwelling are really cool. Looking forward to the next video.

love the videos, you should try the haunted chaple ruin in Margam (Port Talbot) which is close the Margam Park (also one of the uk's most haunted places) and an old WW2 radar station on the adjacent mountain.
Great places but scared the dunlop tyres out of me when i was young and camped there

Another great video, keep up the good work. If you have a trip to the South of France you could combine paddling a canoe, camping and Haribo. River Gardon is good for canoing, has king fishers and there is a little stream that comes off it that goes past the Haribo museum and factory in Uzès!

That song used to drive me crazy! As for Lumberjack Ben, hey, it's the 21st century and I'm trying to be progressive...hahaha. No worries no dramas! We've all been there, myself included. If we can't have a good laugh at ourselves and our mates then what's the point? I've been known to show up at camp and sport an Energizer Bunny onesies...one size too small. The amount of snot, tears and beer that was lost in laughter was epic. Especially as I paraded around the campfire playing an imaginary drum...was enough to make a retired RSM laugh and shake his head.
