  • iDOO Hydroponics Growing System Review 12 Pods - In this iDOO hydroponic garden review I cover basic set-up, how often to add nutrients, cleaning, and other information about the unit.
A couple notes about the video: Remove the clear plastic cup when you see leaves sprouting. If you've planted several seeds in one sponge you can wait until a couple of the leaves have sprouted. Also when you're cleaning it, when you let it run for 10 minutes with bleach, you only need to run the pump. You don't need to put the light back on until it's completely clean and refilled with water.
iDOO Nutrients - one liter of water needs 5 milliliters of solution A and 5 milliliters of Solution B. When you fill the tank with 4 liters, use 20 milliliters of each.
Always follow the manufacturer's instructions. If you power the unit off, it will not restart on its own. Instead of using the power button, you can press the mode button to reset the cycle (Vegetable mode or Fruits and Flowers Mode - whichever you're using). Then it will turn back on later on its own.

A very good and thorough step by step instructions with visual explanations on how to setup the system. Your video helped me set up the 7 pod system even though you were talking about a 12 pod system. 👍👍😉

On the instructions it says not to unplug to not mess up the light/pump cycle. Is there a specific time you unplug and clean it ?

@@kelleroeth2186 I clean mine every 3 - 4 weeks. If you lift the white lid and you see pink mold growing around the edges of the water line, it's time to clean it. I would imagine temperature in a home or humidity could cause this to grow at different rates. I grow flowers a lot so every time they reach a height that outgrows the garden, I fully clean it. That is usually around 4 weeks for most flowers. Some are even sooner. I hope that helps. :)

@Keller Oeth It says at least once a month in the directions, but depending on the type of plants you are growing and how fast your plants grow determine when to clean the system. It does get a bit of a build-up by that time, and the roots of your plants can get very long, bushy, and intertwined. So you be the judge of when you think your plants have matured enough to be moved temporarily if keeping in the system or ready to transfer out to the garden or pots before cleaning it. I waited just over a month because at the time, the weather conditions were not right for transplanting to the unheated greenhouse or into the garden.

One option with water is to put it in a reusable bottle and let it sit for a few days before using. That seems to help it not seem as chlorinated to me

Thanks this was very helpful ! How often do you have to add nutrients and water ?

At first, you don't have to add much but as the plants get larger, they use more water. Any time you add water, you should add nutrients. I find it easiest to completely change the water and add nutrients every 10 days. I have been in a hurry and just added water when needed occasionally.

Should the pump come on when you first turn it on? I turned the power on and the light came on and it's on the vegetable mode, but the fan is not on. Will it come on by itself later or do I have to turn it on?

Does the white colour idoo stain badly. I want to purchase the white one but worried it will look tacky after a while?

The outside of mine has not stained, but the inside of the tank is around the water line.

Mine came with very short sponges that don’t quite reach the water even at max fill level. When I remove the cup covers, the sponges immediately dry out and the plants die. I’m assuming something I’m doing is wrong… any tips?

It sounds like you got the wrong sponges. I had to contact the manufacturer once and they were very responsive. I did order the wrong sponges once and I cut one into small pieces to bridge that gap where they don't touch the water and it worked. I hope that helps.

Do not buy the 303, as the light cannot be lowered beyond 7 inches!! Design flaw; should be recalled.
