You're absolutely right, but who can be picky when looking for old parts used.
Measure from the center point of the swing arm pivot to the center of your axle on both sides. These marks on the swing arm can be off.
They can be off but if you use a straight edge you can't go wrong.
One click is all you need your extra 3-4 clicks is making it more tight...

@@PSYCHOPUNKED those vacuum fittings are on the rubber connectors in front of the carbs that attach to the cylinder head.
