This was one year ago. I am regretful I had not heard this set at Emmet's. Samara was actually introduced to my listening about 6 months ago by Christie Dashiell, another amazing young Vocalist. Shout outs to the audio and video team -- I see (and hear) first class mics, fine mixing, and video production focused on the music. If only commercial TV could get within a mile of this production quality! I'm long retired, but have done this professionally, I hear them growing over time, and would happily put my name on what the team is doing every week!

So much wonderful music, but especially grateful for the gorgeous version of "If You Could See Me Now." As you must know, Tadd Dameron wrote it for Sarah Vaughan, and it became her signature song for many years. Thank you; I was introduced to it in the late 50s, and it's always been special to me.
You don't have any boring videos but THIS is one of the best videos of all.

Well , she has been listening a lot to other jazzsingers like Ella & Carmen & Sassy ... as you can hear thru her singing & the tunes she has chosen here ... hopefully her 'own style' comes more out in a few years ... she's still very young .

But hey , not everybody sings of has to sound like Billie Holiday ... and of course Samara's voice is very beautiful ... it has a very beautiful 'velvet sound' ( which isn't like Sassy's voice ) but she will 'create her own legacy' ... give her some time ... she's still young and there's still a whole (singing)life and future waiting for her .

Most impressed by Ms. Joy! The range reminds one of Sassy, namely, Sarah Vaughn. Some elements of the phrasing too! But then, thankfully, Samara develops along her own muse and style, and that is the way to go. My best wishes. We shall be watching out with eagerness. Hope all will be well in 'the business' in these challenging times.
