David Gadea yeah he tears it up in this song. He plays this song well on the album but right here he plays it absolutely perfect. The way he structures his part. It’s a straight ahead rock rhythm with a bunch of progressive type fills in between. He plays to suit the song. He will play straight forward when Sammy’s singing and then goes nuts when it’s the instrumental. I like this era of Van Halen and wish it would of kept going a lot longer. During this time Eddie and Alex were being more progressive in their playing. Multiple solos and that outtro at the end with the double bass slowly building as Eddie is playing a riff and also slowly building up to his solo at the end. You’ll notice Alex is doing the triplet bass drum patterns and then into full double bass drum rhythm right as Eddie also starts his full speed shredding part of the solo. They’re not just mimicking each other parts. It’s more like a hard rock with a twist of jazz thrown in.
@@davidmerlin3344 He actually is. In the 80's, even after VH released songs live 'Hot For Teacher', people would be all blah-blah Tommy Lee, etc. or later on blah-blah Lars Ulrich, etc. Big Al never seemed to get the credit he was due.
This line up was the ultimate VH ! Their live shows were every bit as good as the studio material, Sammy could reproduce and perform to the note live which gave Eddie, Alex and Anthony all they needed without the unpredictable embarrassments and ridiculous ego they had to deal with in the earlier version of the group. They were clearly on a whole different level.
What a performance! All 4 members smashing it out, at their best. Will forever miss this band. Every era of this band gave us classics I’ll never forget. Eddie's guitar skills are just out of this world, It's sad that no one will ever create or simply master techniques, riffs and solos as mind-blowing as he did with his own style. One-of-a-kind guitar player, he just inspires so many generations, and right now I am witnessing this in complete disbelief on how articulate his rhythm and accuracy is, he just never misses a note. Whilst his tone is so unique and creative, I can't explain how crazy it is. Truly a master at what he does, I keep playing guitar because of him. Rest in peace Eddie ❤
Ed was the complete package. To have the skill, ability, tone chasing, groove, writing, you have to literally live with your guitar in your hands all day every day. He had an unbelievable work ethic.
The most effortless and magical guitar player I have ever seen. I've seen them with David and Sammy from 1978 till their last tour every time they've came it was like Christmas day for me!!!!! RIP EDDIE🎸💯🙏
Van Halen’s darkest album for sure.. and one of their best imo. Zero camaraderie in this video (very unlike VH) you can cut the tension in the band with a knife. Sammy’s just going thorough the motions.. and of course they broke up shortly after. Sad for VH fans but man the music was always great!
Still one of my favorite Van Halen albums!!! Just like everyone else posted on this- Alex Van Halen's drumming on this is amazing! Eddie's guitar is amazing too!
