You can boil water in a kettle and then mix it with the cold tap water for baths...the kettle really helped when we were in between changing boilers. Hot water bottles too!
Fitted electric blankets are a must, and even with small children, you can hide the control switch under a mattress and have them on all night settings. I wanted an electric blanket ever since I was around Jackson and Caleb's ages. Mum bought me one when I was around 6 and surprised me with it when I went upstairs to bed. These days now, they are circuit brakers, so shouldn't do anything silly or dangerous like catching fire. Weighted blankets are a must, although both them and fitted blankets will cost you, especially for 5 people. My mum lives in a 1906 period Edwardian house with just standard central heating and immersion boiler and very slow hot running water, so in any case, it takes around 15, 20 minutes to not even fill the shower bath in the bathroom. When we moved in there 27 years ago, April 1994, I remember how freezing cold it was compared to any previous houses where we'd lived or stayed. We had these storage heaters on casters on the landingein the hallway, in the kitchen, downstairs toilet which we moved a few years later, no heating in the bedrooms, but we had the afore-mentioned electric blankets and double duvets on our beds. We slept very well even then. I have problems with the combie boiler in the house where I'm living just now, when the pressure goes or the heating hasn't been on so the burner doesn't want to fire up when you need it to fire up and get hot water.I am about to move since my landlord's selling up., sadly, because one of the best things about my current house is the combie boiler. Instant, everything, bath, shower, washing up, heating, very toasty warm. I would highly recommend a combie boiler.
Everyone abroad loves our Prawn cocktail crisps. Emily that’s tough no heating. Somewhat similar issue with our move in Dec 2020, four weeks later our small boiler broke no heating for 2 weeks. Good luck with your renovation. It’ll all be worth it in the end. Matt and you renovated your previous property to such a lovely standard, you can do it again!! Can’t wait to see the end renovation result!! 🏡

Things I miss about England...magazines with free stuff attached! I'm Canadian but married to a Brit. and have lived there a few times in my past life. Would be curious what your big parcel cost to send to Canada. Prices to post boxes are so high now. We still do it for family but wonder why when postal costs often are higher than what we spent on the items. But it's still nice to connect that way.
It made me smile when you said I’m sure everyone had a room like this . I think every room in my house is like this lol 😂. Our boiler broke last month , when it was snowing and temps were like -7 it was a actual nightmare no heat or water for 4 days . I hope you get it sorted soon , have a good week 😘😘😘

I live in Colorado, and are still dealing with the results of 2 or more feet of snow. We lost power and our gas furnace for a couple days. We got pretty cold too, I hope your boiler gets installed soon! We got electric back and warmed the kitchen with our oven, and slept with an electric heating pad. I'm so grateful I have a cozy home again. I remember a song with Perry Como, Count your Blessings Instead of Sheep. From a movie called White Christmas. But anyway, I'm so glad you are coping pretty well, and the boys have warm schools to be in as all day 😊 🙏
You should make a little cupboard in the dressing room with coffee tea sugar biscuits, kettle and mugs so the coffee would be handy to go in the balcony 😊☕🍩

About December time, we lost heating because the pipes were frozen but it was only for a day. We just used plug in heaters.

I live in Colorado, and are still dealing with the results of 2 or more feet of snow. We lost power and our gas furnace for a couple days. We got pretty cold too, I hope your boiler gets installed soon! We got electric back and warmed the kitchen with our oven, and slept with an electric heating pad. I'm so grateful I have a cozy home again. I remember a song with Perry Como, Count your Blessings Instead of Sheep. From a movie called White Christmas. But anyway, I'm so glad you are coping pretty well, and the boys have warm schools to be in as all day 😊 🙏
