This was Motley Crue at the height of their debauchery! The release party for this album was held at The Body Shop strip club on The Sunset Strip in Hollywood. It was also on this tour where bassist Nikki Sixx had one of his overdoses on heroin but this one was more intense. The paramedics actually stopped efforts to revive him and pulled the sheet over his head before one of them made a final attempt by administering two cardiac needles of adrenaline straight to his heart. This was the basis for their future hit "Kickstart my Heart." When this video came out Mtv only allowed it to be played after 8pm before eventually making it the first video to be banned from the network. There is an unrated version of the video that makes it like being at a strip club. Damn I loved growing up with this music in the 80's I feel so lucky to have experienced it. I was 16 in 89 and remember saying as the ball dropped on new years eve of 89 "Damn I don't want the 80's to end!"

Mick Mars (lead guitar) is the band member that came up with the the name except he spelled it Crew originally. Nikki Sixx (bass guitar) changed it to Crue. Tommy added the umlauts to make it Mötley Crüe. Mick Mars is a criminally underrated guitarist. Tommy Lee is arguably in the top 10 of greatest drummers ever for sure. This song is the boys love letter to strip clubs around the world. They spent most of their time (and money) in strip joints.

You need to check out the other side of Mötley Crüe. The 1994 version featuring John Corabi on vocals. Suggest Smoke The Sky, Uncle Jack or the ballad Misunderstood. A very heavy album. Mick Mars doing his finest guitar work. The follow up Generation Swine were mostly written for Corabi. Then he left and Vince Neil came back. Didn't like the songs that didn't fit his voice. On the song Let Us Pray you can hear Corabi singing the chorus doing a great scream.

Tommy Lee is in the top 3 of all time drummers. Check out wild side, primal scream, shout at the devil 97 just to name a few. The guitarist Mick Mars is very underrated

Just remember, umlauts and misspellings = rock. See Motörhead and Led Zeppelin.
Also... Most artists: people get excited when they hear their city named.
Crue: people get excited when they hear their local strip club named.

Motley Crue were originally going to call themselves Christmas. But Mick Mars had the name Motley Crew in his head. They just changed the spelling n the unlots (sp) to make it look cool. My favorite band in the world 🌎. Should check out Primal Scream, If I die tomorrow, or the Whole album win John Carabi

The ratings were a lot different in the 80s. Today, this video might be a PG-13, but, in the 80s, it would have been a PG. And, yes, this song is STILL a stripper anthem to this day. You need to check out "Whole Lotta Rosie", by AC/DC. Preferably, the OG version, with Bon on vocals.

Tommy Lee is not a great drummer but he is a great performer. He uses more pizzaz so to speak in his drumming. Find a video of him turning upside while drumming and his drumming on a rollercoaster.

Tommy is the greatest SHOWMAN. Not the most technical, he even admits that. But he loves to make the crowd go nuts. Even better live. You can't recreate the energy he and Nikki on stage
I have also that Mickey Dee might be the best drummer

Motley Definition: incongruously varied in appearance or character; disparate. "a motley crew of discontents and zealots"
Mick Mars (guitarist) came up with the name saying one time he was hanging around with some friends and someone came up to them and said, "Man, you all look like a motley crew. When the band was coming up with the name and Mick said that, they all agreed on the band name but changed crew to Crue. They all were drinking Löwenbräu beer at the time so they decided to add the umlauts to the "O" in Motley and the "U" in Crue. Hence Mötley Crüe.
