Nyla Daud, a senior author, whose articles I've seen in newspapers and magazines during last twenty to thirty years. She held her first Writer's Retreat in Abbottabad in her own property there. The sessions began late night on 1st March, and went almost full days on second and third March. On 4th we all went on our own ways.
A group of eight writers at different levels were to be guided and taught by Kanza, a prolific author and the one who has done MFA from US.
It was a unique experience, and one-of-a-kind one; something that I've always dreamed of doing. I mean, why should one have to go abroad to get such guidance?
It was an excellent idea, we all are now looking forward to the next one. Whenever it is. Unfortunately, a sudden dip in temperatures, made it rather cold, and mostly it rained a lot with thunderstorms. (I feel, that just added to the charm.) A word about the sumptuous meals; which were delicious.
A word about the rest of the ones attending, they were an awesome group. All at different phases of a writing career. Eight of us ranging from twenties to sixties. Several of them from LUMS. It was a pleasure being a part of such a bright and focused group.
Looking forward to more such sessions. I'd love to see an artists' retreat also.
