    I had a peacock for about 5 years. He left one day about 2 years ago and 2 days ago he came back. Just walked up the driveway and I called his name. He ran up to the front porch. I had some dog food got it and he ate right out of my hand, just like he did. It’s a miracle.

    LMAO!!! My dog, Chance has learned to go check on Mr. Buddy the peacock when he calls out @ night. So, you can imagine the commotion the peacock calling in the video caused! It's very reassuring that Chance takes his job so seriously. :D

    I don’t know if you’ll get this but we live in Sth East Queensland Australia & just had a very young pair of male peacocks turn up on our small hinterland property.
    I think they are awesome but have no idea where they came from or what they are doing. They have spent time around the house for a few days & today where quite happy to be close to us & even got very brave & came up to the doors & on the balcony.
    What do you suggest we do? I know that’s a very tough question

    Should I get a peacock to piss off my neighbors? They have roosters and small dogs that won't shut up, so I'm trying to find a subtle passive aggressive way to get revenge.

    Hi, I’m looking to rescue a male Peacock but won’t unless I find a pea hen to keep company. My 🎉question is I have a half acre where I have Roosters, Hens Muscovy🎉 Ducks & a lamb.
    All my feathers friends are completely free range I do have shelter for the rain but they all prefer to roost in the trees at night . Do the peacocks need a house or would they be like the others and only need shelter in the rain?.
    Also I’m having to put up an electric netting fence to keep my lamb in would a peacock be ok with that.
    I live in New Zealand and pea hens are hard to find

    I am here in India at present, supposedly to answer the call of my roots. Not a single peacock do I get to greet and admire when I step out for a stroll. It was put to me that people however find living here a matter of joy & peace. They have accepted a standard of living, procreated and enforced that standard on their children.

  • @VelvetandToads
    @VelvetandToads 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Any idea how big their territory is (how much land you need for a free-range peacock)? And which species is the least noisy? If you don’t want chicks, would two males keep each other company or fight?

    • @HappyTailsAnimals
      @HappyTailsAnimals  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      You need several acres for the peacocks to stay on your land. There is only one species in captivity, Indian Blue peafowl and they are very noise like any bird. You should not keep two males together without females. There is a color mutation in which the hens are sterile and cannot reproduce. I forget the name of that one but I'm sure you can find it if you look for breeders who specialize in color variations.

    Is the peahen at 2:52 albino or is it common for them to be all white sometimes? Also, are the feathers you're selling the ones that fall out at the end of their breeding season? This is a great video! Very interesting :)

    • @HappyTailsAnimals
      @HappyTailsAnimals  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      White peacocks are actually not albino, that peahen for example has dark eyes. It is a gene mutation that makes them white, its a lack of pigment in their feathers. It just comes out sometimes, randomly. Those are all her chicks following her and as you can see they are all dark, but they carry the gene so they have the possibility of having white chicks. Sorry if that was a long answer. Yes the feathers are from the male's tail feathers that are falling out right now :)

    God I want a male blue peacock and peahen so badly. I’d love to make my big backyard their home and be able to walk outside and be with them. I wish they were smart and social, like would sit with you and let you pet them and be like a pet lol. I respect them though.
