Feuerschwanz aren't taking themselves too seriously. That is one of their guide lines, because they were annoyed by big parts of the medival rock & music scene and the re-enactment groups, who were much too serious about their little hobby. Therefore that guy with the top hat between them, the colourful mixture of fantasy-armour etc.
Not long ago they were a fun-party-medieval party/fun/folk rock band. Not very hard most of the time.
The latest album of them (Memento Mori) is their first album, where they really go into serious, harder metal music (without losing the fun element of their former days). This album is now number one in the German album charts and all of the reaction channels here on TH-cam really love them.
This cover version is a cooperation between Feuerschwanz, Thomas Winkler (ex singer Gloryhammer), the band Saltatio Mortis (German, similar to the new Feuerschwanz sound) and Melissa Bonny.
I'm recommending the new song of Feuerschwanz, "Ultima Nocte", for a reaction.
    Greetings
    Mega

Feuerschwanz is a Medieval Rock/Folk Metal Band. In this song they had 3 lead singers from 3 other bands Melissa Bonny is part of Ad Infinitum which is a symphonic metal and power metal band, Thomas Winkler who was in the band Gloryhammer which is a symphonic metal and power metal band and Alea der Bescheidene who is the lead singer for Saltatio Mortis which is a folk metal band. During the main filming of this music video Alea der Bescheidene couldn't make it to the shoot with the whole band so they shot his scenes at another location at a different time. This song is one of my favorites from Feuerschwanz.

Feuerschwanz is a great band. They make extremely good own music and there covers are awesome. All of them are great friends. The guitarist Hans der bescheidene has with mellissa boney a own collaboration called the Dark side of the moon witch I also can respond to react. Their original material is usually in German but they did more covers in English and even one in Romanian. Depending on the mood, one can choose between: the more serious / epic stuff like Ultima Nocte (Latin for The Final Night), Memento Mori (Latin for Remember Death), Das Elfte Gebot (The Eleventh Commandment) and I See Fire (Ed Sheeran cover, preferably the live version featuring Angus McFife aka Thomas Winkler [green armour guy]); the more relaxed / fun material like Metfest (Mead Feast), Kampfzwerg (Battle Dwarf), Untot im Drachenboot (Undead in the Dragon Boat) and Ding (Thing, Seeed cover [Seeed is a German based multi-national Reggae/Dancehall/Hip-Hop group]) featuring Melissa Bonny (female singer in this one). Ding also crosses the border to the silly stuff like Dragostea Din Tei (cover of the 2004 dance hit by Romanian boy group O-Zone) or Schubsetanz (Shoving Dance / Pushy Dance, referring to Pogo / moshing) standard version 2018, black metal version 2020.

Nice reaction and I like it that you first heard the original and than this one. This song is a collaboration with between Feuerschwanz, Melissa Bonny (of Ad Infinitum and The Dark Side of the Moon), Thomas Winkler (former member of Gloryhammer) and Alea der Bescheidene (of Saltatio Mortis). It is a wonderful cover and even at the risk of being screamed at, I like it better than the original.
To dive deeper into the medieval rock/metal (from germany) I would recommand these (there are so many good bands and songs that I have chosen only a few that I personally like):
    - Feuerschwanz: Untot im Drachenboot, Ding (SEEED Cover with Melissa Bonny) and Kaufmann & Maid (a collaboration of Sasha, Subway to Sally, Feuerschwanz, Tanzwut, dArtagnan and Patty Gurdy)
    - Saltatio Mortis: Wachstum über alles, Hypa Hypa (Eskimo Callboy Cover) and Pack (with Tanzwut)
    - D'Artagnan: C'est la vie, Farewell (with Patty Gurdy) and An der Tafelrunde (with Schandmaul)
    - Patty Gurdy: Kalte Winde, Grieve no more and The Yule Fiddler (with Fiddler's Green)
    - Versengold: Niemals sang- und klanglos and Bella schau
    - Schandmaul: Der Teufel 2.4 (international version with many guest bands) and Euch zum Geleit
    and so many more......
I would also recommand Melissa Bonny with Unstoppable (Ad Infinitum) and Jenny Of Oldstones (The Dark Side of The Moon) and from Gloryhammer the song Gloryhammer and Hootsforce

Apples to Oranges. I think the two versions are too different for adequate comparison. I don't think either is 'better' than the other. The original is AMAZING, no denying. So is this one and it is unique because of the differences. But it is okay to have a favorite. :)

This song/rendition, and the chance to see someone experience it for the first time, will take the blues off any day.
Something I just noticed, after having seen this song 30 times or more, is :
!!! How tenuous is the perch that Hauptmann is placed on at 2:13??? ... his right heel looks like it is hanging over the edge!!
I grant you, Melissa bonny is on a higher wall, but she is facing the cliff.... that crazed knight is backed up to the precipice!!
And at least Melissa has her 10 years experience in gymnastics to 'fall back on' (bad pun... lets hope she never had to do that!!)
What a video shoot that must have been !!! I have to track down the "Making of" video for this one!!
    Great reaction, as always !!
The joy spreading across your face made my outlook much better as well (it's freezing here, and it's time to cut up blackberry bushes and kill moss/clean gutters... ugh)
There is nothing like a little over-the-top-Metal to brighten a day.
    Cheers! from Oregon.

One of the singers (the one who reminds you of Till Lindemann) have a second Band which is called D'Artagnan. It's also Medieval Rock but not so hard like Ultima Nocte, Momento Mori or warriors of the World by Feuerschwanz. The point is that he only sings in German with this Band. But I don't think that this is a problem. You can hear into the songs: "C'est la vie" and "Feuer und Flamme" (fire & flames).

Didn't read the comments before, so here i go. First things first: Recommendations of further Songs of this band from their recent album "Memento Mori":
    "Memento Mori"
    "Untot im Drachenboot"
    "Ultima Nocte"
"Krampus" (i really love this one because of lyrics)
Another cover: "Dragostea Din Tei" fun, fun, more fun. 😉
And now: not much less important things:
Great reaction, i watched it on my way home from work and had a smile on my face after a tiring day because it Was pbvious, that this Song gave you a smile. That is, what music can do and should mean to everyone. Not only that meaning, but if needed, it should be this way. And "Feuerschwanz" has tons of this energy. Regarding this energy as a former stage technician at "The lion King" Germany i know about what i am talking. 😉
And btw., your pronuncing was great. If you want to learn more about german bands, feel free to ask.
Keep up the great work and have fun.
Cya at twitch (other nickname of mine) and stay healthy!
    Greetz from Hamburg, Germany.
PS: Another thing to the producing of the video from "Feuerschwanz" nice to know is (if i am right, i'm not 100% sure, but pretty near to it, please an one correct me, If i'm wrong with this), that during the filming of the video, the singer of Saltatio Mortis, Jörg Roth aka "Alea der Bescheidene" (the blonde guy) could not be present because of illness and the scenes with him where filmed at another location and inserted during post production. It is visible, If you know that, but at first watching i wasn't able to recognize. And the production of the video was made by the company of one of the bandmembers or a friend of them. Sorry, i get it not exatly atm.

If you want them in "funny"

Dragostea din Tei (yes, they covered it, yes, its awesome in medieval metal)
    Metfest (Meadfest)
    Methämmer (Meadhammer)

I like the production value, I like some of the visuals, and I like the diversity of instruments. But it's a little bit extra for me and I feel they suffer from too many cooks in the kitchen in the vocal department. But that's just my opinion. And I'm all about women that rock. I really appreciate you and your channel and what you're doing here. Thank you for showing me this band. And thanks for sharing. I freaking love the game HELLBLADE. If you'd like something in that vein music wise, please check out APOCALYPSE ORCHESTRA. They're a medieval folk/doom metal band. They use diverse instruments like the a bagpipe and a hurdy-gurdy. I think you have the right kind of mind to appreciate it. Their song Garden of Earthly Delights is awesome. And if you want something out of left field check out the contemporary folk Viking band SKÁLD. They use all acoustic instruments and are led by a lady. I think you'd like them as well. Please don't feel down. It's easy to get into that dark headspace. I recently had a very rough patch and I know how bad it can get. I was physically hurting myself and sought out help that I needed. I'm in a better place now and it felt good to share that with someone. I hope you have someone in your life that's a source of comfort and positivity. And please reach out to someone if you feel too bad. I hope you stay up. You're an awesome person and your presence on TH-cam is a delight. I'll send you some positive vibes. Have a terrific day!
