I cannot put into words how important and unique Geordie's guitar sound was and how impactful he was as a musician. He was one of a handful of people that shaped the guitar sound of post-punk in the late 70s/early 80s (the others being John McGeoch from Siouxsie and the Banshees/Magazine and Keith Levene from Public Image Ltd., probably Billy Duffy from The Cult/Southern Death Cult as well). Everytime I hear a Killing Joke song, I feel that this can never be reproduced properly by any other band and that is 99% because of Geordie's guitar, I can hardly describe my feelings listening to Geordie's playing, but it's almost magical. As a guitarist in the eighties he was equally important as Johnny Marr (who shaped his own sound as well), we have lost a true giant. RIP
Travel safe among the stars Geordie. It still feels unreal he is gone. His riffs will forever be with me. I was mostly into metal when i first heard Killing Joke as a young teenager. I was drawn in at once. Pandemonium was the first album i got. A massive album. But it all started with Metallica and their cover of The Wait.
Thanks! That was a beautiful and serious tribute to a great guitarrist and a great band. Adorations has very similar chords to Love like Blood, but is a wonderful song on its own. I could be wrong, but this was the closest the band came to achieving success. Well deserved.
Listen to Big Buzz from the last album. Adorations is just majestic from the man - greatest guitarist ever. Honoured to have been at the Royal Albert Hall with my sons to witness his effortless genuis. Honour the Fire - KJ FOREVER
Thank you for doing this Nick. He was and will be loved. This song means a lot to me the trancendental chords. My next tattoo will be "Patterns I'm finding As pain and joy and sorrow mingle Patterns we're finding Our faces raised in adorations" on the inside of my right arm.
Buon viaggio Geordie 🎸🌹
Thanks Nick for doing this tribute. Geordie R.I.P. my face is raised in Adoration. "I Am The Virus" would be my suggestion for another Killing Joke reaction. (please).
This is the second tribute reaction that I’ve seen to Geordie in as many days. Another Canadian channel (is there such a thing?!?) reacted to ‘Eighties’. This track was a minor UK hit in late summer ‘86.
Killing Joke are one the best bands ever. You need to check out songs like Empire song, Follow the leaders, The Wait, The Hum Geordies Guitar playing was so unique and different and you are absolutely correct he produced such a loud epic sound. Just a truly excellent musician RIP.
I had not hear this…. RIP Geordie and RIP Raven. Damn, that is far too early. This particular song is from a particular short period from KJ’s journey. Not my favorite period at all. Ut that is not important. I saw KJ live in 1982 at Larry’s Hideaway in Toronto and it was a memorable concert (captured on vinyl - see their short Ha! Live album). Sad day
The legendary concert. I saw a clip a long time ago on You Tube that was supposed to have been from one of the two dates at Larry's Hideaway, but I have never seen it again. Was it filmed ?
I don’t think it was filmed at least not that I noticed. It was not a large venue. I think i know the clip uou’re referkng to though… Jaz is wearing the big spider shirt with the face paint on. That’s exactly how he looked at the LH concert. I am slightly embarrassed to admit but that is my squeaky voice you hear at one point yelling “Follow the Leaders!”… It’s a great live EP if others have not heard it. The live version of Psycche is particilarkly good plus the song Take Take Take was ghe most memorable for me of the show and i don’t think a studio version was ever released. Plus there is me - free of charge 😎

How can you not absolutely adore this song and the whole of the Killing Joke repertoire of music... so underated ...RIP Geordie

Great album too!

Most beautiful guitar tone in the whole history of RocknRoll.
Thanks for that reaction. The more new wavey side of Killing Joke. Love all the musical styles they explored through the years.
There's not many bad songs from KJ , geordies guitar work was epic and unique, great band . We lost a beautiful talented guitarist/person
Saw live in la great live concert
My favourite Geordie moment is the opening track on Revelations, The Hum...what an epic way to start an album, r.i.p. mr walker.

Those first few albums are so amazing.
a Brilliant track Nick, and astounding lyrical/philosophical depth
Hermeticism. Gnosticism. Rosicrusionism. Alchemy. There's a start for anyone trying to understand and appreciate Killing Joke.
Highly recommend you check out their performance in this video:- Unspeakable / Exit (Generation 80, Belgium 1981)
