Yes, I did not know that when I went to see the film but only learned it later. I had a false expectation b/c Chronicles was my go to Dylan early life thoughts...
I think the deal is that Dylan was the star of the folk music political movement, so his going electric - and aggressively electric - at Newport of all places, was perceived viscerally as massive betrayal by many.
@@laredolassoo Yes, I think that's true. But, he had been making more plugged in music from late 64 and in 65. Even Corrina, Corrina on Freewheelin' had drums and maybe bass. Man, the public was out of touch. Bob was correct in that they 'appointed' him as messiah but he wasn't trying to do that in the first place.
Great review! Very interesting, loved that you showed your personal Bob's collection
Thanks Max! I wish I hadn't made it so long! I love showing off Bob's albums....
Important to note that this film was based on the book Dylan Goes Electric by Elijah Wald, not Chronicles Vol 1.

I know, that's true. Still, why was Cash being partly electric fully acceptable?
@michaelwilsonbarber because he wasn't a folk artist and wasn't perceived to be the Messiah of the political folk movement
