But metric and metric space are two different mathematical objects as per the book introduction to topology and modern analysis by GF Simmons
Metric is a function from a set to set of non negative real numbers which satisfies certain properties. Normally we denote it as d. And metric space is a set X together with that metric d. And we denote it as (X,d).
Sir please explain X cross X->R what is R here is it real numbers including negative numbers? Or positive R 0-> ♾️
