- 'Only The Brave,' an upcoming film starring Josh Brolin and Jennifer Connelly, documents the Granite Mountain Hotshots, a firefighting team overtaken by a raging Arizona wildfire in 2013. Nineteen men died while saving the town of Yarnell, located 90 minutes from Phoenix. Shortly after the tragedy, Inside Edition brought together eight of the widows. Juliann Ashcraft lost her husband, Andrew. "I wish for the world could know that they lost this army of honorable men," she said. #InsideEdition

As a firefighter of 8 years service this movie was the hardest to watch for it brought back memories of fire calls I’ve responded to
I'm a seven year firefighter and 5 year EMT, I came a long way from Being a young man rookie in 2013 now I'm a 30 year old firefighter and EMT in this day in age of covid, I'm remember in 2013 I got down on one knee with 20 fire veterans in Utah paying our respects to our fallen brothers so far away. I was a rookie in 2013 when this happened, now I'm a mature full fetch firefighter and EMT in 2022, I came a long way to become someone now.

My sister was actually friends with him in High school, so we knew him and his family. His wife was seven months pregnant when he died. I saw the movie with my mom and dad, and my mom sobbed at the part when they died.
They will be remembered forever.

We were on a Firefighting duty when we heard about them,.. the whole camp was quiet. .as we came in,May they Rest in Peace!

I watched this movie for the first time a few weeks ago...and people will say ok...I started firefighting in 1985 ..as a 50 year old I cried ... These guys gave it all

Real men right there....legends...God bless all of them and there families. As a young man i look up to these guys as true heros. Glad they made a movie to honor them because they completely deserved it.

I thought the film was an amazing tribute to the men who fought and lost their lives. A day later after watching the movie and I am still touched by it.
I live in Arizona and during all baseball and basketball games they had a moment of silence for each and everyone person who risked/lost there life saving Yarnell. I go to a sleep away camp near Yarnell every summer and part of the camp burnt down in the fire. Everyone in Arizona was aware and sent prayers to all of the family’s of the fire fighters. dead, or alive.
if anything, those two fathers got to hold their children first.

Sorry to hear of your loss. It is always tragic for a parent to bury a child. Thank you Kathy for your support of my fellow firefighters. Wish our fire shelters could be made thicker and stronger to withstand higher fire/heat temperatures.

It's an old interview they've brought out again because of the movie. Note how the movie isn't mentioned at all either to or by the women. This interview was from 2014, the year after the fire.

This is so sad and tragic.
On the side...I think they mixed the clips of the babies...when they were talking about the boy, the baby they showed, was wearing pink. When they were talking about the girl, the baby was wearing blue. Now, I let my daughters wear my nephew's hand-me-downs, so I have no problem with that. In this case, though, I think they were trying to differentiate the two and goofed.

I woke up at 3:40AM from nightmare after watched 'only the brave' movie lastnight. In my dream i felt as if i was under the shelter and the fire is coming. It was really scary and i woke up almost crying 😭
Anyone with any sense or that actually matter know exactly how descent and honorable these men were. Not every male human can live a man’s life and fulfill his duties in the manner these men did. I had a father but he wasn’t active in my life until his death when I was 15. The tragedies to your children will not gender them. It will make them better. It did for me.
Some say they weren’t even supposed to be in that area? That they had left the safe spot.. any truth to that? Also one of the fire fighters had blunt force trauma to the head… some speculated perhaps one of them fell and was hurt bad? Guess it doesn’t matter at this point years later. Just curious if this was a error on their captains part to move them out of of the area they were in, and into more dangerous surroundings?
Imagine losing your husband and then having to relive it while watching the movie.
Damn that sucks for the 2 men who never got to meet their kiddos smh truly sad
