- Dean used the Timberjack 1270D harvester (or processor) to process red pine. The head was frozen like I've never seen before. A freak happen chance caused issues. It didn't go quite as planned...
Hi Dave!!😀😀
That's the type of red pine I cut quite regularly. When I started cutting wood the red pine was 2 sticks tall and now the tree's in the same plantations are 7 to 8 sticks tall. It's been kinda fun growing old along with the trees.
You don't have to worry when the eagles are circling. It's when the vultures are circling that you better keep moving. LOL!!
What where the odds of hitting that fence post right on that cut. That sucked!!
Take care my friend!!😀😀❤
Didn't expect that processor head to be frozen down like that.. Welcome to The Great White North... 🤗... Thanks for sharing David, have a Great Day... 👍💪
Nice Video David, charged the batteries, did some maintenance, show cased a Eagle and a turd hearse. Good thing no-one got hurt and the machine is fixed for another day. Cheers and stay safe
That harvester is fantastic! I need a miniature version of that for harvesting firewood so I don't have to buy so much from the firewood guys. I could make my own. I really enjoyed watching this. You logging guys make me wish I was 30 years younger and working along side you all. 😊
Get a saw and a splitter and do like I do and sit and wish they'd go out and do it all themselves but never do. I'm trying to get my nerve up. Not yet.
Therese is small om en Google bison harvester
Like watching machines like that work. Got you a good load of wood too. Take care and have a blessed weekend.
Back to work!!!!
Please be safe david!!
Let's hope 2021 will be better
LETS!
Enjoy the video very much nice piece of machinery I enjoy watching all types of Lumberjacking
Shame , he missed the garage 🤣🤣. Nice vid . Stay safe and healthy 🇬🇧
That was awesome to watch. Running over branches we are always worried about popping a tire.
Excellent video 👍👍👍👍
That was a fun video to watch again. That is an impressive machine.
Hey David, You spoke of how fast the saw is on that machine, I have to tell ya I was impressed how fast it cut through that t-post! Freak stuff indeed. From my heavy equipment background, the stick on that machine looks quite light. Obviously it's engineered well enough though! Thanks for posting. Bless'ns to ya, Tedd
Nice machine. Sawing metal gets expensive. Old man winter has given you a teaser preview I see. You'll be a busy man before long.
Thanks Dave we enjoyed the video!
Awesome machine and video thank you
Oh my gosh that looks Cold..hope you keep that snow up there
That is 1 neat machine thanks for posting
Dave was it hard to watch an not do it yourself great video have a day love from TEXAS
Another great video bud keep them coming
Cool video David!
I sure don’t miss that kind of cold. Glad to see some new videos coming out. Stay warm out there and stay safe.
That was awesome to watch
Looks like a nice setup. May be time to move things around so they don't freeze down
I did the same thing once with a fence post like that but the post got into the tree when the buncher dropped the tree. It was broke off in the tree right at my length and cut. Took a chunk out of the bar and ruined the chain as well.
And I ran the buncher, too.
COOL DAVE. HAVE A GREAT DAY.
On the idea of if you attach something to the tree it will move up. I was talking to a county worker years ago that was brushing back the trees along the roads and he told me that he always made sure that he cut really low so that if the fences moved up he wouldn't hit it. I just started to laugh at him and he looked at me puzzled. I asked him if that's what he thought happens and he said yes. Then I told him that if that's how it worked all the fences would be in the tops of the trees.
Some people just don't get it.
Common sense is GONE! BUT you weren't talking to a rocket scientist either.
@@lewiemcneely9143 Hi Lewie!!😀😀
@@aldredske6197 What do you say, Al! Hope you're wobbling along as all us old folks are but you're probably able to do some kicking! Hope all is good with you!
@@lewiemcneely9143 I'm hanging in there. Trying to finish up my winters wood. So far I haven't had to start the outside boiler because of the beautiful weather we have had this fall.
Take care my friend!!😀😀👍👍
@@aldredske6197 Good for you! I'm trying to get my nerve up to start mine. I hunted for a good 2nd hand splitter and ended up getting a new one. And a smaller saw too. People say they want to sell stuff but they lie a lot. I'm right now ready to start but I have to talk myself into it or maybe psych myself. Whichever. Still 60's here but this will change but not as much as there. Remain calm and let me know how things are going. Thanks, My Pal!
Everyone staying home and plugging their own septic systems instead of the ones at work. Have a great day.
C'mon Dave, if he is going to be cutting fence posts he needs a steel chainsaw 🤔😏
Better to have eagles circling than vultures. They were probably thinking if you keep standing that close to falling trees, odds are good one of them will clip you 😉
Always fun to watch amazing equipment at work.👍👍
I’ve got a Timberjack 1270b with a logset head, great combination much more powerful and heavy duty than the original head! It would eat through that stuff
That's a bucket list machine for me.
Always wanted a shot on a processor- with a good chain on it though 🤣
This harvester is amazing.
You just need that and a forwarder,
then you can cut down and drive all the forest to a road.
True at twice the cost of traditional cutter/skidder loader and a 3rd of the production!
@@carlwilliams1570 thats not true
@@rasmusuuttera190 ok maybe I missed the price difference 1 1/2 the price of a traditional three machine tree length crew. When I did CTL myself that was the production difference thinning pine plantations.
@@carlwilliams1570it’s much quicker tbh
My brothers and l had a cut to length logging co. 990 timber jack processor, 910 TJ forwarder, and a Fabtec forwarder. Cut 102" plyblocks for Weyerhauser in Millport Ala. 8 to 10 load a day. Really enjoyed logging that way but Weyerhuauser decided to shut down plywood production.
Didn't have to worry about freezing too much in Ms. but always set processor on limbs or logs at end of day.
We were building a house one time, and one of the crew noticed a bunch of vultures circling high up above us. I told the boys they better pick up the pace a bit.
It is amazing how a tree can become a pile of wood and branches in a few seconds or minutes.
Just about spit my coffee out with that taco bell comment hahaha . Honey wagons are staying busy
Great vid David can't wait to see some of the winter feller buncher vids .but keep it up bud I enjoy see reality vids and equipment and that machine is awsome .but what was that metal up in the tree .?did the tree grab some metal as it grew lol .that was up pretty high according to the cuts ..anyways godbless and stay safe
, good beautiful video
Thanks for sharing David! These feller buncher are great machines! Don’t worry for the eagles unless they have a troubled vision they probably figured out the runaway would be too short for a liftoff whit you as a lunch 🤣😂🤣😂
I like the exits even tho it means end of video.... I have been so damn sick the past year that for some reason I get my memories of stuff out of order and so I am guessing that the painting the old cat and making the girl look like a younger "kitten" was done in the spring of this year. I would of liked seeing that cat working again with some heat in the cabin and glass to make it stay like warm instead of a squaw fire. I trimmed limbs with a double bit axe and kept the saw going for doing the bucking. I did get fairly good at a limb off per swing or more but you come to one of those nasty bunch knots that have several limbs growing from one spot and so you give in and try to saw it off just to hit rocks and hard crap. That might not be pretty to some but when I see better stuff growing on dry ground and he can cut short logs and drop in a pile that makes skidding easier. I'm from logging in the late fifties and on... no such toys then.
Timber trucks do swing around its all to do with a high center of gravity . Especially when with a full load as the lighter timber on the top of the stack ends up at the bottom of the load . Its nearly allways the heavier wetter timber on top causing the truck to sway like this . .
Ruh roh are you gardening with frost David jk did ya get the glass in the cat , there neat machines them processors , time for a new chain decent size pine, it’s Saturday it’s chillin wanting a beer and chips hope you have a great day my friend
boy what i would of gave for something like that back some 50 yrs ago--instead of the 5ft measuring pole i carried behind my dad. i guess u could say i was the forwarder back then, as i had to up-end or carry all the pieces to the end of the tree and stack em there. didn't hurt me doing all that by hand, but oh my i could of dreamed of something like that to have-hehe!!
technical bit of kit lot to be said for basic equipment. cheeper to run.
Those band/tracks have alot of slack in them, probably need a shorter lock or a link cut down with longer locks.
You have absolutely nothing to worry about with the eagle overhead. I am quite sure even if his eyesight is bad that you look a tiny bit too large to be a meal for him!
Dean did good as you did. Great day had, global cooling returns and as far as that truck went, the election might be over but the results are just getting started! GBWYall!
Its a torn sawmotor :) That is why it stops
Yeah , put a Bucher 20 cc on it
Hey David 👋
Are these logs headed to the stud mill at Bemidji? Or just for pulp?
While I love all the trees. I don't think I would want to deal with the cold
That's why you drive equipment up on logs in the winter time
gonna need the brown pants.
I have the same problem with a new good sharp chain it pulls cuts so hard the motor can't turn it.
You can put the sword pressure down a bit and start the chain speed upp little before the sword goes down
And check the saw motor , its probably worn out
works perfect once you get the perfect edge off the chain and only have that problem when its a really good chain.
@@codybergman978 But if you have that problem its not a good chain ;)
Nice video! You shouldn't stand so close to the processor while it's at work. If the chain explodes (like they sometimes do) it can very easily kill you as the pieces (chain bullets) fly at a such velocity they might go through a tire
Was thinking the same thing. It’s called chain shot look up the incident reports, has killed a few people
What is red pine used for in your area? When I worked for a local lumbermill here in southern Maine we couldn't use it for lumber. We had to slow the planer down to a crawl to keep it from shattering like glass. It's just not worth dealing with.
I believe its gets sawn for lumber here in Wisconsin.
@@firecaptaintom1977 -Thank you. It's surprising how different parts of the country use different species of trees.
@@markmorris3579
Interesting is right. A forester told me that the market for pine logs and bolts is hot right now, pulp not so much
@@firecaptaintom1977 globally pulp is in the toilet. Too much lockdown and the demand is low. Log buyer told me it was the worst he’d seen in thirty five years. Plus, we get four more years of covid! Yeaaaaay.
@@HubertofLiege
My brother's and I are looking to cut 100 of our 235 acres this winter. Mixed hardwood pulp is a major component. We may only break even.😑
Doesn't feel like we had a summer....
I'll bet that rig works on beaver dams as well...
What are you doing with all the branches? Do you come back with a forestry mulcher?
Do you guys still run the processor and forwarder?
I’m in the pacific nw west we cut our logs long not short like this
David Rosenholm Assuming the loggers are cutting for lumber, not pulp, right?
Is that your machine dave
No kontroll on the machen ..hit metal no Schein on the Sword ..not inuf psi in hydraulic.
You have naic and Coldplay wheder ..100% perfekt to harwest the Wood ..

Is that machine a jack. Or is it deere
Its a timberjack 1270D whith a 758HD harvester head ,Later John Deere bought them up
@@hanslarsson4857 yha i new they bought them out years ago , but that one looks deer all the way.
Yha. That one is full deere with jack stickers. Now that look at it. Its got deere axles under it
@@toddreynolds8875 I have a 1270C harvester with the same axels as this one and the coloring on cabin i right i should have black corners in sides of the window in front of cabin , John Deere painted them green
@@hanslarsson4857 ok. I wasn't sure. , i know they went completely deere components. By year 2006
You know those equipment operators, never do what you ask of them to. Should have told him NOT to hit the garage, he probably would have dropped 3 on it! Cool Eagles. Ever see one walking on the ground? They mosie, like bow legged cowboys.
Your logging again bet ur glade
At the price of lumber, that's a lot of money laying there.
paused the video and recounted the rings. got 52, give or take a couple.
Where the timbco
Good video - except the running commentary!
That head isn't workin properly.
and this is not red pine it is gray pine with big limbs
