never had any issue with it, even after updating the game, and I'm on act 3 atm. I think I did read some issues with ppl who kinda tried to get rid of the mod at some point(?), but I just never take the ring off myself since it's so useful.

    • @Lunaraia
      @Lunaraia ปีที่แล้ว +36

@@Tsugandate It's 99% related to trying to uninstall the mod. As all items are saved by name in the save files and BG3 does not have a placeholder item in case of missing item or item data, leading to a hard crash when that is looked for but can't be found.

    • @flyingwhale157
      @flyingwhale157 ปีที่แล้ว +5

So does bags bags bags when uninstalling. You need to keep every item you get from the game (possibly should buy all of them if you are at the same act as the seller) , put all of them on ground and destroy them by right clicking and attacking, or using aoe spells.
Unfortunately this is the workaround for any mod that adds a new item to game. They arent disappear from inventroies when you uninstall unlike many other games.

I wouldn't use it because it's actually breaks the immersion. All those spells are situational but still needed and can be quite easily accessed through potions and scrolls. I don't see why you would want to further simplify the game that is already not that difficult.

It's funny how most CRPGs like Pillars of Eternity has the "change party members" as a menu item which you can use anytime out of combat, but with Larian games you have to go through that mandatory dialogue every time. Im sure there will be a modder who will help us with this, but i think we will need a script extender mod before people can start modding menus. To make character selection a menu item that might be required (as it was required for advanced Skyrim menu mods).
As a player who uses a buff character, i really want this too. A buff character is a hireling from Withers which you can respec as a cleric/druid (casters) to get the good buffs for your party like aid, protection from poison, longstrider, goodberries, etc (any buff that is a ritual or that has the "until long rest" tag). But to use this guy i have to hear Karlach complaining about eating dirt EVERY SINGLE DAY. XD

I'm using an increased carry weight mod as well, since inventory management is the bane of my existence in every game that featuress it heavily. There's also a newer one that lets u stack items that don't stack in vanilla, like pitchforks and whatnot. Also a couple mods to make certain things a bit faster, like the scrolldown menu animation (which can be a bit too slow when you right click items to send them to different places) and one to make dice roll animations a little bit faster as well.

by holding ctrl you can click and select multiple items at once, or by holding shift you can select ALOT of items at once..
Theres tabs to sort by weight, value etc but also tabs to sort by type (potion/gear/etc).
Inventory management is super easy in this game using the intended methods.

About WASD movement (because I was about to use that mod too), you can left-click and hold and the selected character will 'chase the mouse pointer' effectively WASD.

yeah imma be honest a lot of these mods seem really redundant and also go against the core basis of the game, like the ring for instance, if you didn't spec into those spells with your character or another then you shouldn't have access to it through such simple means. kinda ruins the point of making multiple playthroughs if every character you make starts to have access to to everything when it shouldn't

Small clarification on the ritual spells, any spell marked as Ritual will not use a spell slot if you cast it outside of combat as often as you want. However, it does require the spell being "prepared", so if you cast the spell, say Speak with Animals, and then unprepare the spell to free up a slot for a more combat/utility focused spell, then you lose Speak with Animals. I think (though I have not tested it) that any caster that takes the Ritual Casting feat at level 4 (or 8 or 12) can cast ritual spells without them being prepared. That's how I understand it works from the normal 5E rules, at least, but then again I'm pretty sure only Wizards are allowed to free-cast ritual spells outside of combat if they have it prepared and it's tagged as a ritual spell, if they don't have the Ritual Caster feat. So the feat might work slightly differently in BG3.
Does the ring allow you to unequip the ring after you've cast the spell(s) without the spell effects going away?
Edit: I should finish the video before submitting comments :D
Another small clarification, the inspiration point cap, if you are capped at 4 and do something that would give another inspiration point what you get instead is bonus XP. So that reward isn't lost to the ether. I don't know if the XP bonus scales with level or not, but if it does, removing that inspiration point cap might not necessarily be an ideal option... unless you still get that bonus XP whenever your inspiration points are at 4 or more?

Hi there! Thank you for sharing.
Here is my take on each mod, from a soft of baldur's gate purist / immersion maniac perspective :
    Native Camera Tweaks: Instant buy.
WASD Character Movement: My love for the pure experience of the isometric Baldur's Gate has already been stretched with ease with the current camera freedom. And I can safely assume that a little more freedom will not hurt. :)
Aether's Immersive UI: Although with this kind of game, the constant UI does provide a kind of meta immersion if that makes any sense? But I always like having the option of no UI. I'll give it a try and probably end up wishing for more customizability and end up removing it and putting it back a few times before choosing if I want it or not. The worst that could happen is I can't decide and I just wish I never learned of the existence of this mod. Unless I start playing third person all the time with WASD character movement and end up wanting to remove the UI to have a proper third-person experience. That would probably be the worst thing that could happen. Now I'm afraid.
Bags Bags Bags: I kinda enjoy ruffling through my things in the back pack, and placing things in it like a person would actually organise his back pack and gear. I think the present simple inventory management is easily rp translatable. I would rather have a mod that allows the inventory of all the characters to have a permanent memory (and never reset even after you change companions a few times) but hey I'm rarely against more options if they make sense. I'll be using this mainly for the potion, book and arrows containers.
    Better Containers: Yup.
Dye Dye Dye: Surprisingly, I'll pass on this one I think. I'll enjoy finding the dyes as I go, at least for my first run.
Everybody Dyes (Unlimited Dyeing): Well, ok yes please.
Ring of Minor Rituals : Nope. Over my dead body.
Visible Shields: The only reason I won't use this one is totally against my immersive and roleplay principles, and it goes only with my instant-to-instant aesthetic appreciation of the game, and it is because I appreciate the designs of the party members, and a shield gives them a dull silhouette. Naturally invisible shields : canon. XD
No More Looping VFX & SFX on Buffs: Over my dead body. Mainly because magical and divine buffs are actually visually present in the world (they are also indicators to the player that something is active and may be helpful when you don't want to cast a concentration spell but forgot you already had something important going on.) But I understand some people want less visual stimuli.
No More Blood and Dirt: Over my bloody dead dirty body.
No Inspiration Point Cap: Nah, already too easy with all those rerolls. 1 inspiration per party member I'd say, even.
Customizers Compendium - NPC Options Unlocker: More options. Why the hell not. Just wait for these mods... they are coming. We will soon have packs of hairstyles that will rival the number of stars in the galaxy.
Can't wait to see how this game will be, mods-wise, in a few years. It is going to be mindblowing.
    Again thanks for sharing!

Native Camera Tweaks, Aether's Immersive UI and Better containers are a must have for me. Bags³ seems cool will test it. Everybody Dyes should've been in the base game.
The ring of minor rituals is honestly cool but kinda not necessary, I'm playing a sorcerer and bought some potions of speak with animals, but now I got so many I didn't even need to buy them, you can drink one and it lasts until your next long rest, same for mind reading you got potions that don't need concentration and scrolls that need concentration but there are many, speak with dead you get an item in the first dungeon of the game if you explore it and there are ways to get it forever too, disguise self is the more interesting one for me, since sorcerers can't change spells.
    My recomendations:
If you play dragonborn, get Dragonborn and Dragonbreath Unleashed, it allow you to buff the race with many options.
If you're used to rolling for stats or just wanna get more feats there's a Feat Every Level mod, that also has many options ranging from an extra feat at level 2 from, extra feat each odd or even level, etc.
If you wanna have more companions, Party Limit Begone mod.

Some of these are really good, like the containers and the camera mods. However, there are others included that really just take the breaks off and diminish certain core mechanics of classes like druids for example. I understand the urge to create a munchkin character that can just do everything without missing out on anything, but for me personally doing away with those details just absolutely murders my immersion and incentive to roleplay. Why even bother if you can automatically succeed at all the things that don't even make any sense for a specific character to be able to do? Not being able to talk to animals or the dead changes what you can find out along the way, and changes what information you have available to inform your choices down the line. Each playthrough is gonna be different anyway, and having those little restrictions create little consequences for your understanding of the world makes for a hugely more immersive role-playing experience.

Plus I've discovered the wonders of using Multiplayer to create a larger party of my own chars in combination w the party size increase mod (Party Limit Begone (except it has a limit of 16 which I haven't tested)) to not have to sacrifice game companion content in the process. It's all been stable, but I'm finding that being online w Steam seems to affect the stability (poorer on Steam).
But you can see from that list that none are in this vid except one... and now my game is further bloated w mods and as yet untested as such. I did have install errors from Vortex about the NativeModLoader-dependent mods during install (Native Camera Tweaks/WASD Movt/Aether's Immersive UI), so we'll see... "Achievement Enabler" is another such NML-dependent mod I already had, and at the very least it hasn't crashed anything... yet. Plus mod order does make a difference, so this new mod batch may require some trial and error...
Side note- I was trying to use another mod called FastXP which seemed to pair well w the Level 20 Multiclass since it would boost the early levels and then let the game XP progress normally, but that mod became ineffective as well for some reason w no fix by the modder. I'm not sure if the devs are going out of their way to prioritize in patches the blocking of Level 13+ progression, but those are the mods getting broken foremost. Other than just useful FYI, another reason I mention this is that the FastXP mod grants the XP bonus only to level 6, and the bug w Ring of Ritual seems to be after Level 6, so I'm wondering if they're related- i.e., only those using that FastXP mod AND Ring of Ritual were getting their games janked. I put my Level 20 mod before Ring of Ritual in mod order, so maybe that will help. I might need the order reversed or RoR and Lvl20 mods are inevitably incompatible somehow, dunno, but the RoR looks helpful for content mining, so... I guess we'll see.

simple walking on any water source does the trick and if you have the staff that allows free cast create water. After getting back to camp pull it out, cast create water with all the group gathered together and done without having to install mod just to get rid of dirt and blood.

Playing with Party Limit Remover is a must have if you're playing with a full party, or if you want to play with more of your friends (up to 8)
This is really good because there are just some quests you can't do without a companion with a full party, though sometimes things can a bit.... silly.

There are some good mods on this list. I especially like the infinite dye and the visible shield mods. It kinda bothered me that my party members who had shields did not wear them on their backs like in other RPGs. Also the multiple hair style mods and NPC faces is a great addition to chr creation. You can never have too many hair styles :).
However the "no more blood and dirt" is kinda useless because there is an immersive way to clean your characters. Throughout the world you will find water bottles or other recipients with "water" in the title. When you use these items, the character not only quenches their thirst they will also wash off. So you see they DO like to clean up after a hard day, you just have to use the water bottle.
    TY for making this video!

The buff VFX is actually really nice to have tbh. After like 500 hours of this game, I don't even really look at the buffs next to the party on the left of the screen anymore. I can visually see what they have on and what's being concentrated on. If a modder really wanted to make my day, make a spell that's only usable outside of combat so you can put all your buffs in it and have the characters knock all those spells out in one go. Like still make the spells cost the slots of course, but just make it more convenient to rebuff the party. I can deal without the ritual ring if I can apply all the buffs I want in one go, and since it's only usable outside of combat it's not even breaking the game's action economy. In tabletop, if I were a player (usually I DM), and I am playing Cleric, I'd just declare that I'm using Aid, Warding Bond on everyone, and Shield of faith on the Fighter/Barbarian/Paladin up front after a long rest during exploration.

The thing I hate the most is that NPCs immediately turn hostile when they enter an area spell: I had to do the fight at the last light many times over to be able to save the priestess, only for her to walk into my cloud of daggers immediately after the fight was over, thus turning the whole inn hostile towards me.
I didn't even have time to disable the spell, to avoid this I'd have had to do it during the fight, which sucks

Camera Tweaks & WASD movement are honestly mandatory mods. At the very least Camera Tweaks is. Being able to more in depth explore and appreciate the surroundings is such a huge gain in immersiveness (oddly enough). WASD movement is just weird that it isn't in the base game. Controllers can already move with the joystick by default so why not KB+M users.
One mod I really, really wish existed though is an 'improved keybinds' mod and I'm genuinely shocked there isn't one yet. The fact you can only keybind 12 or so abilities by default, and ONLY on the custom hotbar, is actually crazy.

  • @blizzardthefox

As someone who has played D&D long before BG3 came out, the cap for inspiration is because each character can only have one inspiration at a time. For me, it feels more authentic to D&D which the game is based on, but I can understand why some people would prefer not to have a cap for the gameplay, seeing as how it's not actually D&D but a video game based on D&D.

    • @PaulRGauthier

Inspiration is a currency. In roleplaying games you're supposed to SPEND currencies, not hoard them. But even in tabletop, players often hoard their currencies rather than use them in play.
