I'm not a spitfire user but the idea is very very interesting! Thank you for sharing! I'll try this with Sample Modeling Brass to see how they react to such treatment!
I use Realoud (saturation) with the mix% mapped to the mod wheel, and I mix in Majestic Horn (Only cost 2$) for the FFF layer. You can also set certain instruments up with more aggressive crossfades. So for example mapping both velocity and dynamics on the modwheel for brass instruments with more punch to fade in after the softer instruments (Horns, Treble Trombones in the treble range, Bass Trombones in the bass range). You can add a bit of distortion as well, with some eq. You can set up dynamic low pass filters/eq to open up at the height of the mod wheel. You can add a down tuned layer with a high dynamic range that really adds some low end power. The possibilities are nearly endless to get significantly more dynamic range/breakup out of the brass section than you hear out of box.
Hey Roland! Nice to hear that you have found it worthwile your time! I have a few other things that I have stumbled upon during the time dabbling with sample libraries and producing music, that changed my mindsed quite a bit. Maybe I will have the time to organise them into cohesive uploads of better quality than this one, haha.. Cheers!
The "solo stacc" is just a track name that I have in Cubase. When you open the "BBC Symphony Orchestra" plugin choose a "Horn" patch and "Staccatissimo" articulation. Hope that helps!
Indeed Cuivre can help if the note is long. But if the note is short, the staccatissimo mix of stopped and open horns is a good solution sometimes. Also, sforzando patch can come in handy sometimes, as it has a lot more punchy sound compared to regular staccatissimo. Hope this helps! Cheers!
Thank you, a great workaround to get a little more bite out of the horns.

Sorry for a long reply!
How did the SMB react to the treatment? Any luck?

I've always thought the BBCSO horns were weak so I'm grateful for this video. Thanks for sharing :)
Hope that it has helped!

Very interesting approach! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for this video, I'm about to upgrade to the Pro version and this is useful info.
Thank you very much for this valuable information!
Unfortunately, such means regarding sample libraries are very difficult to find. 👍👍👍

I see a4 Stacc & French horn stacc. My question is where are you finding solo stacc or is that just French Horn Patch

@@ABukartas thank you, again a great hack for a brighter sound. I appreciate your work
Just switch to Cuivre, real orchestra's horns are tame and bold, not aggressive.
Indeed Cuivre can help if the note is long. But if the note is short, the staccatissimo mix of stopped and open horns is a good solution sometimes.
