Do no harm. When you do not listen to a patients wishes for same gender extended staff for any test, procedure, surgery.. When we are humiliated and embarrassed by opposite gender staff this does not help a person heal. Also, how can you sayninformed consent when at our local hospital they will not let us read the consent form and hidden in it is that you can video and photograph the patients procedure, and have people like sales reps, students, etc. who are not involved in your care in as spectators. These things are not ethical and are upsetting to the patient when they learn of these behaviors. Men especially get no respect in healthcare. Many feel sexually abused by the female scrubs, nurses, cnas and others.
