South Downs Light Railway 'NARROW GAUGE GALA' - 18/03/2023

- The South Downs Light Railway held its 'NARROW GAUGE GALA' over the weekend of Saturday 18th & Sunday 19th March 2023.
A collection of ten locomotives (seven Steam, one Diesel and two Electric) were in use over the two days including a major first visit for a locomotive that hasn't left its home railway in just over 30 years!
The three visiting locos were as follows...
- ELR 'Maxi-Lucky-Seven'-class 2-4-2 No.7 "Sandy River" (first visit away from the Eastleigh Lakeside Railway since the railway opened in 1992)
- HMR 0-4-0 No.7 "Firefly" (from the Hastings Miniature Railway)
- 'Hunslet' 2-4-0ST+T "Nelly" (from a Private Railway)
They joined the following resident locomotives...
- SDLR 'Exmoor' 0-4-2T Nos.319 "Pulborough" & 334 "Peggy"
- SDLR 'Bagnall' 0-4-2ST+T No.1 "Alice"
- AER 'Hunslet' 2-4-0 "Agapanthus"
- 'Exmoor' 0-4-2D-H "Arun"
- SDLR B-E 4w "Oddjob"
- SDLR 0-4-0B-E No.38 "Merlin" (first passenger runs)
