Speaking from player's perspective on "why people still play Genshin even with their lackluster character designs?" "They don't think about these kinds of details anyway and pull regardless". Answer: The attachment to that character is what made them pull regardless. This is subjective obviously, but we can't deny that Hoyoverse is so damn good at making characters feel relatable through the main quest, to the point you grew attached to them. Wuwa has been doing this lately, particularly with Camellya. People will pull and play regardless, even as people claimed "lack of details", these virtual attachment is like blind love. You get what I mean? So overall we all had that moment where, "Ooh this character looks bad", then the other person said "It doesn't look that bad to me. Plus I like their performance in the story. " You see why we all keep fighting against each other because of these different perspectives. Oh nvm we're all looking for trouble anyway, don't we? 😅
Agree. Like all this comparison is about the quality of the engine. I'm like "yeah, Kuro definitely better with PGR and wuwa, but I still don't have feeling attach to their game as strong as genshin and HSR, idk why". Hoyo characters just more "alive" to me and diversed in their design and story.
Genshin story is not that relatable only raiden and ganyu that i only feel attachment but the other characters, not really. if there is a skip button i would have been smashing it. Ganyu and raiden best character in genshin impact. ❤
Bro remember they use same engine but not the gerne itself, open-world vs non open-world, there is a lot of performance issue to consider especially for little things like hair physic.
Hopefully with this video one of the major takeaways can be that engines dont matter shit and it all comes down to the design choices of the developers on how a game looks. And unity is a very versatile engine. You can make anything from the original mario to GTA 6 in it
I want to have these games as $60 full price for base game and get new addons with content as once-paid updates for 40 bucks. F2P are orientated for crazy expenses so I don't play them much: without crazy payments they're tedious to progress and waste too much of your time to get something interesting. Genshin no longer cares about its players or its characters; it just copies and copies and copies from its other game, Honkai Impact, and then uses Genshin as the cash cow to fund other games where they actually treat players well. It wasn’t until Wu Wa came along that they started to shape up, and they came up with the lie that Sony was the villain preventing them from doing anything in Genshin because of exclusivity. What a bunch of clowns. But like all new gacha games, they’re going to end up killing Genshin anyway, especially since they’ll use Engine instead of Unity. They’re handing out Primogems and pulls, but the worst part is giving you a character from the standard banner-hahaha, what a joke. In the end, Genshin is no longer a game that can compete with all the upcoming releases, and Hoyoverse knows it. They’re not giving away Primogems for nothing. But their decline is evident in the new zone, with unappealing characters. I’ll skip all these characters until the next zone, because Natlan is awful.
Because people must justify why they quit Genshin/HoYo. "See?! Look at those inferior hair physics! I knew Genshin was a shit game 😡" It's all I've seen with this community, unfortunately. It makes me think that the characters don't know how to dress, with how they always have mismatched shoes and leggings, or straps that do absolutely nothing. Too tacky. You can imagine this why I also really like Arlecchino. But, Genshin's designs are still great, in my opinion. Especially with Fontaine, and these new Natlan characters. Genshin and PGR pull off asymmetry pretty well with how they manage to make sense for the character, while also not being overused. I loved Crimson Weave's design so much when I first saw it that it made me finally pick up the game. She's my main. Coolest character across all anime/gacha games to me. Acheron doesn't even come close.

for how unfair it is to compare these 2 games of different genres towards genshin like they always do, in this case there is a good reason for this one. when you move around, youre not actually moving the characters around, rather youre moving around the character as you can see the background also moves when you move around. because of this, theres no need to hv physics to make things move because they shouldnt in the first place. you can see the same approach implemented in WuWa as well, at least in the mobile version, idk abt the pc version tho...
Engine jerking has to be the worst part of modern gaming culture. People just don't realize that engine is just a tool and doesn't dictate how the game would actually look
I still like Genshin's handmade animations for the hair movement. It's still done in a way that isn't immersion breaking, to where I never even thought about it until this video.

What's the point in making these videos ?!? To cause conflict between two communities this drama has been going on for way too long i get kuro does a better job but why can't we enjoy both games in peace 😭😭
It's not about causing community wars, its just the effect of it from shills and those who knew what they are talking The main point of this video is to make a comparison of the dev's effort to improve their game Comparisons are not inherently bad, its just how people will perceive it: Either they will be an idiot and just cause wars here and there or a person with some sense, to know what needs to be improved and how the devs will act on it, wether to improve the game continuously or just let it stagnate... I play both games btw and I love both in different ways but honestly speaking? Hoyo needs to step up in improving their game

PGR uses the real way of doing cloth physics. Genshin’s hair and clothes physics are regular animations and are not affected by movement. You can test it by running and turning in Genshin. You’ll notice that the hair and clothes do not deform based on your turn direction. Cloth physics is actually very expensive to do too, so maybe that’s why Genshin devs choose to make it animation based instead for their open world game. One last thing is that, if Genshin was made today, Unity has more optimized ways to use cloth physics such as having it operate on the GPU or using the Jobs + Burst compiler. But Genshin was made in 2017 and those tools weren’t around at that time. It would take too much work to switch existing characters to use those things now too.
it's probably just the fact that animation should be less taxing on the hardware so that's why genshin runs decently well on even some older mobile phones. and yes they've already shown that they're not willing to update older models by the fact that diluc's eyes are still so messed up 4 years later
@@takimi_nada that is correct! Using animations for the cloth system is less taxing because the movements are already stored. But it is different with the regular cloth system because everything has to be calculated and done at runtime every frame

because Genshin doesn't actually have hair "physics", they're animations meant to simulate hair physics, same with cloth.

And animations are actually more costly to animate and keep together without looking wonky
The main advantage about animating the hair is they dont need to think about clipping at all. At wuwa you can still see some chars hair stabbing their own torso.

Definitely someone in Hoyoverse made a pact with the devil or some Chinese demon, I never saw anything special in their games but the community defends them as if they were the best, it's crazy
same. I never played hoyo games except HI 3 which I tried wayyy back then in 2016. And it was boring and nothing special so I dropped it. I was confused with GI hype as well because I saw the gameplay video at first sure it's an open world gacha game but combat looks boring and characters look generic so I didn't even bother to try it.
Meanwhile, I'm just looping the video to listen to a background ambient noise that sounds like a machine running
Speaking from player's perspective on "why people still play Genshin even with their lackluster character designs?" "They don't think about these kinds of details anyway and pull regardless".
Answer:
The attachment to that character is what made them pull regardless.
You see why we all keep fighting against each other because of these different perspectives. Oh nvm we're all looking for trouble anyway, don't we? 😅

@inesgmirnir788 yeah that's one of them, but I'm discussing another topic, which not a lot of people actually noticed

“IT’S THE ENGINE GUYS ITS NOT THE DEV TEAM”

What about PGR then
it's probably just the fact that animation should be less taxing on the hardware so that's why genshin runs decently well on even some older mobile phones. and yes they've already shown that they're not willing to update older models by the fact that diluc's eyes are still so messed up 4 years later
@@ayush7800 PGR is not an open world game, so it wouldn’t be much of a problem using a regular cloth system
@@takimi_nada that is correct! Using animations for the cloth system is less taxing because the movements are already stored. But it is different with the regular cloth system because everything has to be calculated and done at runtime every frame
