  • Hi Everyone:
    Today, we're taking a look at a 2-bedroom at the Disney Vacation Club Villas at the Grand Californian Resort. We enjoyed a 4-night stay in this beautiful room over looking the pools and it was wonderful! In our video, we take a look at not just our beautiful room, but also a quick look at the amenities offered at this resort.
    We did, however, cover this resort in depth and many of its restaurants in a separate videos, so please see the video links below.
    We (our family of 4 that comprises The Mouse Scout) bought into Disney Vacation Club ("DVC") in 2004 and it was one of the best investments we have made. We like to call it our "anyway" money because we are going to spend money at Disney anyway, so we might as well invest in a way that allows us to stay in first class accommodations without shelling out a large chunk of change at a time. Our membership in DVC has paid for itself many times over and the annual dues we pay are reasonable in comparison to what we get when we go to Disney.
    Our home resort is Beach Club Villas at Disney World and we go every other year and stay at a 2-bedroom villa. If we were to pay out-of-pocket for this room, we would not be able to afford it. So, we are glad we made this investment.
    Since we were unable to go to Disney World during the pandemic, we instead opted to stay at the Grand California, which is close to home. Our villa was extremely comfortable and being so close to the parks is fantastic!
    So come along and take a look at our room and get a quick look at the Grand Californian Resort. And be sure to check out our other videos about the resort too!
    Until next time,
    Ked

    Your tour of this villa is exceptionally well done. Good camera work, informative and no unnecessary talking. (I never understand why vloggers have to verbalize every item in a room.) I applaud your wonderful tour of a two bedroom DVC room at Disney's Grand Californian reaort & spa. 👏🏾👏🏾

      LOL! I'm always talking to the screen when I watch other vids of room tours saying "yes, I can see it's a toaster, you don't have to tell me it's a toaster." But sometimes I find myself doing that too, so I try to scale it back. :) Thanks debbabe!!

    Wow wow WOW!!! I’m not sure I’d ever leave that room! 😃 Absolutely amazing! I’m currently redesigning my home with the Arts & Crafts style in mind. This gives me so many great ideas, especially the Murphy bed for guests! So happy to see a new video from you guys 🧡🧡🧡

      Oohh! An arts & crafts styled home. How cool! I bet it's going to be beautiful. Yes, we spent a lot of time in the room just hanging out. It was fantastic. Thanks so much and good luck with your home!

      @@TheMouseScout I meant to thank you! We’re still in the idea phase, but hope to get plans solidified after the holidays 🧡
      Ked, you said the beds are raised. I’m very short, and I believe you mentioned somewhere that you are short as well. Did you have any trouble getting in and out of the beds?

      @@tinkershell1856 Hi Tinker Shell! No, I had no problem getting into the beds (I'm 5'3"). They're raised just enough to get your suitcase under them. But I hope it works for you!!! Let me know. :)

      @@TheMouseScout Thank you very much! I’m 4’11” tall, so that’s still a little high for me. I can pack a fold up stepstool if need be. I can’t wait to return to the GC 😍

    Can you booked a villa if your not a DVC member??

    • @TheMouseScout
      @TheMouseScout  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      You can rent points from DVC members to book reservations at DVC resorts. There are many websites to do this at, just google DVC rentals and many pop up. Just be sure to research how reputable the site you choose is. However, I believe Disney will rent available rooms for "cash", but I've never done it before, so I unfortunately do not know how it works. I would recommend calling Disney Hotel Reservations to see what they say. Hope this helps!

    How much was your DVC membership at the beginning?

    • @TheMouseScout
      @TheMouseScout  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think we paid around $80+ per point back in early 2000's.

      From what I have heard most people invest about 20k initially

    • @TheMouseScout
      @TheMouseScout  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@julierdenning It all depends on how many points you buy and at what price. But yes, an initial investment is in that park range.

    • @julierdenning
      @julierdenning 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TheMouseScout Thanks that’s what I thought. Can you split it up into payments or does it get paid all at once? Wouldn’t want to finance more like 4 or 5 payments

    • @TheMouseScout
      @TheMouseScout  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@julierdenning The transaction is just like buying a house. You either pay cash or finance it. Back when we bought, we got our own financing, but DVC did have a company they worked with for financing at the time. Just like when you buy a house, there are closing costs, recording fees, title insurance, etc. and, you have annual dues (around $8-9 per point). You are on title to the property, although the length of ownership is only for around 40 years, depending on the age of the DVC resort. It's not ownership in the typical sense. So, if you want to go often and want upgraded accommodations it's worth it -- at least it is for us. We usually stay in a 2-bedroom villa with full kitchen and laundry. To pay cash for these villas is costly. We figured we made up our money in the first 2 vacations, believe it or not. Nowadays, it would take longer. The annual dues always hurt, but it's been an investment we all feel was worth it. Sorry I got so long winded!!
