Howerton Spring Ranch is southeast of Lewiston, Idaho, near Culdesac and Winchester State Park, where the farmland meets the mountains.
Lewiston is Idaho’s only seaport, houses the area’s regional airport and is home to Lewis-Clark State College. The surrounding area produces a large share of the United State’s wheat, lentils, oats and barley. Many visit the area for its beauty and history. The Clearwater River is less than 30 minutes north offering world renowned salmon and steelhead fishing.
The property is on Slickpoo Road between McCormack Ridge and Mission Creek. The road is named after the old Slickpoo settlement along Mission Creek.
The 422± acres is primarily used for cattle ranching and hunting. 141± acres are dry-land farm ground that has been planted in pasture for cattle, with the remaining acreage consisting of timbered hills and draws. The rolling grasslands on the north side of the property start at 2,500 ft in elevation, ranging to 3,300 ft in the timbered mountains. The property is fully fenced and cross fenced, with a catch pen and loading chute for cattle. Springs provide water sources for cattle and wildlife. Stock tanks throughout the property gather water from the springs, including Howerton Spring. The water also flows down the draws in the hills and meanders through the grass pastures.
There is excellent recreation and hunting here. The land lays within Idaho Fish & Game Unit 11. Whitetail deer, elk, bear, and mountain lion are all found here. You may also see wild turkeys and some upland game birds. Roads throughout the property provide access for ATVs, four wheelers, and horses.
