i've spent way too many years being naive and thinking kpop was just pop. i also thought it was only in the korean language. i didn't see the point of listening to music i didnt understand. 2021 was the year i decided to be more open minded to new music. i came across blackpink and I was in shock seeing Kill This Love. I was not expecting to hear english and rap. the fact that they go back and forth between 2 languages and the transition from rap to pop vocals is so smooth. i'm so glad i found them. they seem like such sweet women in real life and on stage, they pack a punch.

But K-pop has definitely found a way to be their own dominant genre.
