தென்னிந்தியாவின் சூலியா சமூகத்தினரால் 1828க்கும் 1830க்கும் இடைப்பட்ட காலத்தில் இந்தத் தர்கா கட்டப்பட்டது ஆரம்பத்தில் இது சாகுல் ஹமீது தர்கா என்றழைக்கப்பட்டது. சிங்கப்பூருக்கு வருகை புரிந்த இறைநேசர் சாகுல் ஹமீத் ரலியல்லாஹூ தஆலா அன்ஹு மகானின் நினைவாக அப்பெயர் சூட்டப்பட்டது பள்ளிவாசல் போல் தர்காவை மெக்காவை நோக்கிக் கட்ட வேண்டிய அவசியமில்லை எனவே நாகூர் தர்கா விதி அமைப்பை ஒட்டியே கட்டப்பட்டுள்ளது பெரும்பாலான தர்காக்களைப் போலல்லாமல் இந்தத் தர்கா எவரின் நினைவாகக் கட்டப்பட்டதோ அவருடைய உடல் இங்கு அடக்கம் செய்யப்படவில்லை. இந்தத் தர்கா கட்டப்பட்ட தேதி குறித்து சர்ச்சை நிலவுகிறது இதனைக் கட்டியவரின் வழிவந்தவர்கள் 1828க்கு முன்பே இத்தர்கா கட்டப்பட்டதாகக் கூறுகின்றனர். அவர்களின் கூற்றுப்படி 1819ல் சர் ஸ்டாம்ஃபர்ட் ராஃபிள்ஸ் இங்கு வரும் முன்பே இந்தத் தர்கா இருந்தது முதல் தர்கா மரப்பலகையாலும் கீற்றாலும் கட்டப்பட்டது. 1815ல் அது சுண்ணாம்புக் கற்களால் மீண்டும் கட்டப்பட்டது 1815ல் இந்தியாவிலிருந்து இறக்குமதி செய்யப்பட்ட பொருள்களால் அது மீண்டும் 1818ல் கட்டப்பட்டது. இது உண்மை எனில் நாகூர் தர்காவே சிங்கப்பூரின் மிகவும் பழமையான சமய நினைவுச் சின்னமாகும்.

This shrine was built by the Chulias, a community of southern India, between 1828 and 1830. Originally named Shahul Hamid Durgha, the shrine was built in honour of a holy man of that name, who had visited Singapore. Unlike mosques, shrines do not have to be built facing Mecca, and so Nagore Dargah conforms to the street grid. Unlike most shrines, Nagore Dargah contains no bodily relic of the person it commemorates. A controversy surrounds the date of the shrine's construction. Descendants of the founder claim that the shrine was built much earlier than 1828. According to them, the shrine was in existence before Sir Stamford Raffles arrived in 1819. The first shrine was made from wood and attap. It was rebuilt in 1815 using limestone, and again in 1818 with materials imported from India. If this is true, it makes Nagore Dargah the oldest religious monument in Singapore.

The Nagore Dargah (or Nagore Dargah) is a shrine in Singapore built by Muslims from southern India between 1828 and 1830, and was originally known as Shahul Hamid Dargah. When this shrine was first built, Telok Ayer Street where the shrine is located was a sandy beach crowded with sailing craft. While its physical surroundings have changed beyond recognition, the monument itself - save for conservation and preservation work in 2007 - has changed little since the late 19th century. It has a unique blend of Classical and Indian Muslim motifs
