In the world of Battletech, no matter how much of a jerk you are, you know that you must never antagonize one faction in particular--the phone company.
+Anders Albertsson Thanks for the words of praise, I will keep telling the stories as long as there are people that will watch and listen to them. Should have another one up in a few days.
@@TheMiteyPirate perhaps in your readings of the cannon books you could spend some time getting names right ... fosht not fokt ... yes it is spelled focht ... toy a ma ... and so on ... also anyone can read the manuals ... almost verbatim ... perhaps combining the comstar side of things from all the house books and using your own script instead of that created by fasa decades ago would be better . as for the start of comstar it didnt start with the word of blake ... it started with alexander kerensky before he chose to leave the innershpere he appointed a director of the hpg network and directed/ suggested they remain neutral so the inner shere wouldnt fall back into the stone age but retain some technical knowledge at the very least ...
I plan on making a series of videos on the great houses only issue i have is there is going to be a lot of names i get wrong, if you guys can weather my American accent ruining names there will be more faction spotlights, my next one will be on clan cloud cobra if its well received ill reboot the series
So they're basically the bastard child of AT&T from our own world and the Adeptus Mechanicus from Warhammer 40k? Or would it be more accurate to call them Comcast instead of AT&T?
Time motherfucking Warner cable. They buy monopoly rights from other internet providers. They spend money to insert people into position of government oversight. They are often as obtuse and unhelpful as possible. Half of their employees don’t even understand how most of their network functions. Their tech is old and arcane and only a few wizards can operate it. Everyone hates them but can’t replace their monopoly until satellite internet evolves.
@@madcat789 except at&t/ bell labs... still unclear on the seperation, did a lot of innovation and improvements to their networks and tech, such as inventing transistors and doing lots of research. Comcast does very little to improve anything.
Any structure can be hacked. But it is fiction, so it can be happening. If Comstar was never compromised it is because of a writers decision. In real life, authoritarian regimes lead to lack of innovation and incompetence, because people fear to talk about problems, so problems grow big before they are addressed. Clans lost because Comstar attacked them, and clans attacked themselves too, either in trials or clan rivalry.
Thanks for covering the factions of BattleTech! I stumbled across this video while looking for a summary on Comstar and received just that. You might want to double check the pronunciations of several of the key figures you mentioned: Anastasius Focht and Devlin Stone, whom you pronounced "Anatasius" and "Devin." Other than those small things...I LOVE this!!
+peterbehere Glad you enjoy my videos, I also have enjoyed Battletech for long time. As for my pronunciations I am working on it hopefully, it doesn't hurt your ears too much. I only speak English and even that is questionable on if I do it correctly. There will be more videos in the near future and I am trying to make each one better than the last. I hope you will continue to enjoy my show and that it does justice to the hobby you have enjoyed for so long.
+duskowaiki If you are okay with reading older novels Gray Death Trilogy is good. On the forums they highly recommend The Warrior Trilogy by Stackpole though I have not read those personally.
I just got done watching your videos, and so far I'm having fun. As for factions, are you covering each one individually, or are you currently only working on base summaries of Battletech lore?
+Badluck Johnny I am currently planning on doing several different faction videos to give additional context to the videos I have already done. been working on the periphery and you should expect it to be posted in the next few days.

Good to know that things won’t change in over a thousand years 🙄

Please do the 5 Great Houses! I still have the Steiner and Davion sourcebooks from the 90s. They are a gem now.

Nice name

Comstar is what AT&T was before it was broken up.

They were compromised...from within. That was the Word of Blake
I'm just a cable guy. I told you I don't know Judith Faber.
One thing I have to call you out on, Corps is not pronounced as corpse (like a dead body), but rather, like core.
Otherwise, good stuff. Keep it up!
Stefan Amaris, not Aramas... Toyama instead of Tomeia... etc...
@Daniboy it's actually pronounced Mechity. With "Ch" like in "Cheetos".

Ya thatdbe great....
Ok so how does one become a member of comstar, can anyone join , or do you have to be born into it?
Ah yes. AT&T with guns. Pay your bills... or else.
All hail AT&T.
I thought Comstar headquarters is on Hilton Head island South Carolina.
Thought it was north Carolina

+duskowaiki If you are okay with reading older novels Gray Death Trilogy is good. On the forums they highly recommend The Warrior Trilogy by Stackpole though I have not read those personally.
+The MiteyPirate Thank you. I will have look around for them novels.
Great lore video, keep up the great work! Also, you have a good voice for narration. :) Can you make a video about Clan Ghost Bear? Thanks! :)
