He played to the end, forced to give up his dream house and perform without ever retiring due to medical bills. He had colon cancer and performed with a colostomy bag. We really need universal healthcare in this country! RIP legend

couldn't have said better myself, this country is so fucked up right now and the thing that some (referring mainly to Trump supporters) actually think the opposite and believe this clown we have as President. They'll also think it's un-American for me to say ao, tell me to pack my bags and leave if I don't like it and will continue to ignore that they're life is pretty shitty compared to all other developed countries and continue to play sharades with this criminal
OMG he's awesome. Saw him in April this year. He was almost 75. STILL plays this great!! I took vid of all I could til my batteries died. We chatted afterwards. Nice guy...lovely wife too. I remember hearing this song when I was a kid. I couldn't sit still the whole time. This song brings back great memories. The girls sure shook to this one. AWESOME song.
Fuck the Rock in Roll Hall of Fame for not getting this guy in!! Jann Wenner and company are some of the biggest cunts in the media for holding true musicians back from entering his pantheon.
the world of music and the world in general are now smaller and less bright with the passing of this incredible guitarist, musician, and man. REST IN PEACE, DICK DALE. THANK YOU FOR SHARING YOUR MUSICAL GIFTS WITH US
Saw Dick many times around this time period, he was just insanely awesome. Not as fast anymore, but it's amazing he's still here after 2 battles with deadly cancer. Surf King forever!
From what i know it is a Greek song with roots from Anatolia (Asia Minor), and the lyrics are about a love of a christian man for a muslim woman from Misiri (hence Miserlou), a taboo subject for the time. It dates back to about 1930
+MrDefensores I JUST DID A COVER OF THIS SONG WHERE I PLAY ALL THE INSTRUMENTAL PARTS INVOLVED, CHECK IT OUT ON MY CHANNEL AND PLEASE SHARE!!! THANK YOU! (ALSO I UPLOAD VIDEOS REGULARLY COVERING SONGS IN THIS FASHION)
@Pudabudigada He actually had a couple of left-handed Flying Vs built for him, one with a traditional Gibson-style headstock and one with a V-style. Both if I remember correctly were still strung upside-down.
In Mai 2001, I saw him in New York in a small room, he gave me his "mediator" and then I slide it on his guitar's frets while he was playing this song. He is the greatest. I would love to see him again in France.

I was fortunate enough to catch Dick several times when he appeared with his full band, the Deltones. I loved the full sound they provided especially the minor chords used in a lot of his songs that you just don't hear with bass and drums only. That said...Dick Dale rocks and this clip gave me goosebumps!
I loved this tune, and the strains of the Spanish tune Malaguena in there, played from both sides of the fingerboard. ! It is notable that he plays left handed, but the strings are strung `upside down` as with a right handed guitar! Amazing!
This is the Greek song Μισιρλού which belong to the greek kind of music called "Rembetico".Anyone hears this music loves it forever...I'm proud to be greek...
Oh yeah! This song was in my head for like one hour, so I decided to look for it (didn't know the name or anything). I was one hour looking for it. It worth every fucking second...
Dick Dale will be performing at the Pummer Auditorium in Fullerton on September 1st. He will be celebrating his 50th anniversary with Fullerton College Foundation and the Muckenthaler Cultural Center. I'm so excited!
Surf's up, in heaven now, thanks Dick Dale.
He played to the end, forced to give up his dream house and perform without ever retiring due to medical bills. He had colon cancer and performed with a colostomy bag. We really need universal healthcare in this country! RIP legend

The man created a whole new sound. . so sad to see him pass into the great beyond. Thanks for all the great music, Dick!
Miserlou is actually a very very old song...but he made it work in his own way.
Give me one single good reason he isn't in the Rock and roll Hall of Fame.
R&R hall of Shame..! Lots of blind spots on their take of history...
No room. Had to fit Madonna's whole ego in there so something had to go.
Fuck the Rock in Roll Hall of Fame for not getting this guy in!! Jann Wenner and company are some of the biggest cunts in the media for holding true musicians back from entering his pantheon.
For starters, RRHF is a joke.
Rock and roll knows no age. Rock and roll is in your heart, baby!
Thumbs up for the greatest of lefty guitarists.

Love this version. Dick Dale was born before and after his time.
@Pudabudigada He actually had a couple of left-handed Flying Vs built for him, one with a traditional Gibson-style headstock and one with a V-style. Both if I remember correctly were still strung upside-down.
Better than any acid.

печальная новость. теперь на небе звучит твоя гитара
I didn't know Hannibal Lector can play the guitar
Sounds like you don't much about anything. Especially classic guitar work from a guitar master like Mr. Dick Dale. Ignorance is bliss huh??
Thesocalballer you totally missed his joke. It was that Dick kinda looks like Anthony Hopkins, the actor who played Hannibal Lecter.
Jon Rose lol best comment ever
That was the funniest shit I've read in awhile
Thesocalballer sounds like you don't know anything about Hannibal lectore lol
Death metal at it's finest.
This is surf rock
NoNameFitz That was the joke. It seems like it was an inspiration for some death metal bands.

Thank you for share it.
I loved this tune, and the strains of the Spanish tune Malaguena in there, played from both sides of the fingerboard. ! It is notable that he plays left handed, but the strings are strung `upside down` as with a right handed guitar! Amazing!
R.I.P. Dick Dale
Just ONE of the many heroes of every 1950s kid who aspired to play a guitar.🎸
except he didn't release his first album until 1961.
This is one killer song!!! Damn I love it
