    1:13:27 Seth makes a VERY good point here. Remember, Commander was running just fine before WotC started making cards specifically for it. In fact, they in many cases made things worse by doing so. So it seems the same can be true other formats. The less WotC has its fingers in the pie, the better things seem for that pie. If they just ‘make cards’ and stop trying to tell us what those cards are meant to be played with/in, things seem to be much better across the board. Which is another reason that I NEVER want to see them in charge of the rules committee in Commander. Lesson of the day…make cards, make money…let players figure out the rest.

    2:41:50 sac anvil to self and pay 2 to duplucate x3, pause on opponents upkeep, pass, sac anvil to self x3 and win.

    i've wanted to try commander where land tutors were banned. limit green to the same mana rock ramp as other colors and effects that allow them play multiple lands a turn like Explore.

      Based comment, I dislike how the convention of commander protects land ramp but every other color has to deal with mana rocks getting removed.
      If green ramps with mana dorks, thats more than fine.

    What to do about ramp etc in commander?
    Well if I had a consistent play group (and in fact still played edh) I'd want the group to build the decks together, and then swap around in a circle every session so that everyone got to play each deck and none were especially favored because everyone had a hand in it. "Democratic EDH".
    Another related idea is everyone chooses an archetype (aggro, permission, combo, ramp) and everyone builds a deck in that archetype then make sure each session has one of each. These both could be expensive but at least the group could pool their cards and funds for the best results (and everyone keep track of what cards belong to whom --via a spreadsheet.) Very complicated but also probably fun for a bit.

    I still don't like alchemy cards. If I play brawl and someone shows with an alchemy commander, I just scoop usually. I won't play against them.

    The actual reason green fell off isn't because interaction is too good. It's because the other colours have the good interaction AND the good threats.
    Having pretty good threats with basically no interaction won't work against threats that are just as good (or better) backed by powerful interaction

    Cards have a special border effect, to show they cant be countered
    Seth several times in 1 match: Ill counter that purple glowing card!
    If arena adds a big "cant be countered" sign in the middle of the screen - hes the reason why xD

      Its already in the game, a big "Are you sure????"
      The problem was with Ertai, where the "are you sure" appears only after hes already on battlefield and its too late

    For the issues with Commander ramp vs LD vs combo idea:
    As Commander Class is more about the viewable content, you could go a sort of Bingo route. Create a number of mini-goals and randomise them for a bingo card and have each player try fill one or more rows on their bingo card instead of going for a traditional MTG win, earning points for each mini goal reached and bonus points for completing rows. This way even if you are knocked out early, so long as you met enough of your bingo points, you could still win off points and this gives interesting build ideas and content because you're going for the bingo goals instead of the traditional MTG win.

    The problem with ward is that they actually balanced the cards around hexproof to be 1/1 or really expensive. I feel like they power crept the ward creatures too much, and they also made the good ward effects only for black. Can you imagine a green ward creature search your library for a basic land? That’s how it feels to me to play against the black ward creatures sometimes.

    the unspoken truth is you have to push through "un-fun" games where MLD ruins the player ramping out of control until you get to the healthy meta where people dont feel comfortable ramping literally non-stop, stop playing 15 ramp pieces on the regular, and you can finally tone down your MLD package or just loot away those spells when you're at parity.

    There is a cycle of Spellshapers in Time Spiral block that make token copies of existing cards. The green one made Llanowar Elves tokens.

    They need an artifact that reads "cards can't be exiled" probably 3 mana
    As a bonus it is hate on impulse draw

    No problem with alchemy cards here. I'd rather see more decks do their cool thing than have you limit your options for the "real cards" crowd

      Better experience than watching games in the MTGO client too. Way harder to follow than Alchemy.

      I built two Alchemy decks last month after playing a Midweek Magic event and they're now my favorite decks in my new favorite format. I think it's a great, refreshing way to play and a lot of people seem to just dislike it because it's groupthink.

    On midrange card design you could make an enchantment that says " each player may play only one land per turn. No additional lands can be played with spells or abilities."

      @@demiurge2501 The Blue Enchantment (Confounding Conundrum) returns a land to hand for the opponent for each land that etbs beyond the first. It doesn't stop landfall triggers, but it does prevent extra lands from staying in play.

    As the powerlevel of cards increase it's only natural Ramp strategies with a powerful commander become oppressive and annoying to deal with. I completely agree that WoTC needs to print more anti-ramp or punisher cards like Confounding Conundrum, Zo-Zu, Polluted Bonds or Treacherous Terrain. I could see a Balance-style effect with a voting mechanic (Will of the Council? Council's Dilemma?) where players can vote for the number of permanents/lands to sacrifice, for instance.
    In the end, feeling forced to play anti-ramp in every deck can't be the solution, though. The best choice will always be, unfortunately, to depend on people being reasonable and to police a bit the number of ramp sources in decks/cut down on overpowered commanders... I would still like more hate/stax cards to be printed, though.

    I honestly enjoy ramp but my play group is very midrange we ramp but usually only once or twice
    It makes it so there is rarley ever a a point where anyone is doing nothing but it also isn't squewed too far in any one person's favor

    Aliasing refers to the sort of jagged stair-step pattern that can show up when displaying things with pixels. Anti-aliasing techniques essentially smooth over the graphics (with lots of math in how it chooses colors of the pixels and such).

    I love land destruction, especially the land destruction clash video. If you guys play that I'd be down, my catharsis involves seeing a land ramp deck get them all blown up then followed by the hard punish of their graveyard being exiled.
