I disagree heavily with end of this video. everybody hates modern architecture as it stands. ornamentation definetly has a place in architecture, it has cultural value and breaks down the facade visually and makes it more pleasing to the eye. im not saying we should go completley back to old architecture but that new architecture is simply unfit for purpose, 1 size fits all for a planet that still contains with in it diffferent cultures that deserve structures fit for them, not a corparations idea of the cost effective
The last part is an exercise in futile apologetics and the beautifying of worthlessness. Return to glory. Eschew weakness. Only accept the highest standard.
Well built and designed minimal designs can be nice. But when you add in cheap and fast along with it, you get some truly horrific buildings that should be immediately bombed.
If you criticize that we do not build like in the 16 century and you are against simplicity, but at the same time you don't dress like in the 16 century and instead you use jeans and a T-shirt, you are a hypocrite.
That really got me thinking for quite a bit. I thank you for that. While having a distaste for most modern architecture and furniture design i still don’t dislike all minimalistic designs. I believe some of them have a huge quality which is hard to achieve from my point. Saying very much by doing so little is a sign of a master and there’s only few people capable of that. With minimalism ontologically redesigning us, lots of non skilled people practice this style and create pure ugliness. To produce something beautiful in a style that is based lots of detail that are obviously pretty seems way easier. Why i myself still wear modern clothes is because i can choose the forms that appeal to me while always presenting a little bit of detail and character because how i combine my pieces. I feel the same boredom looking at lots of outfits. I do not propose going back to outdated historical styles but hope for a new way of creativity and detail in our modern sense of taste. Clothes show way clearer then architecture how inappropriate it would be to only go back to old days of glory.
Absolutely!
And you killed not only "Architecture" but also "training to be an architect"...
And this is not minimalism, this is primitivism!
Modern architecture is disgusting and needs to be demonlished
I agree and I am an architecture student.
As a society we must collaborate and create some beauty into our architecture. They did it in the past, we can today as well.
Hearing that a church was designed by a firm is utterly soul crushing to me

There is already a movement toward more traditional architecture. Perhaps the pendulum is swinging the other way?
Classical architectural beauty died in 1900
Id argue that it actually died in 1930-40 ish. art noveau and art deco are awesome
@@pigeon_the_brit565 I meant 1900s, not necessarily in 1900
@@TMS26164 ah, right
“Plagued” with ornaments and details. Tell me you’re biased without telling me you’re biased.
Cheap, easy and lazy

@@jackpowell9276 you are right sir, I'm a fan of classical architectural designs too, I love old buildings compared to the new ones
@@TMS26164 you have a modern building as a profile, are you sure you like Classical architecture?

The Equilibrium.
Cheep and easy.
Well nobody in today's culture cares about beauty of the past.
