- Hello friends! After a long 10,000kms journey, here I'm with the ownership review of my KTM Adv390. Let's talk about the good - the bad and the ugly. I'm gonna cover the overall ownership experience that I had with this Motorcycle.

On my KTM 390 Adventure, I have changed the front sprocket to KTM 250's sprocket to 14 tooth, one tooth less than 390, engine RPM has to be 4000, I rode this from Sulthan Bathery to Thiruvananthapuram, Kozhikode , Mangalore, back to Sulthan Bathery around 1600 kms in a week, I have a 2016 BS3 Himalaya and 2017 Kawasaki Z650 too, I use this KTM 390 Adventure more than other two bikes, no need to speak about the Z650, it is super on the streets and good highways, Himalayan is more comfortable on the off roads, I have put a 14 tooth sprocket on the Himalayan too, The power and brakes are too lousy on the Himalayan, low end torque is better on the Himalayan but on the highway overtaking another vehicle is a problem, on the KTM 390 power is very good keep the RPM above 4000, I did talk to the Service manager about the low end torque, My Z650 has super torque at any speed, KTM expert told me that the Crank in the KTM is lighter one to keep the power acceleration faster, that is why the idle RPM is 1800, and to avoid engine knocking the computer will retard the timing abruptly around 3000 RPM , so down shift when the engine RPM go below 4000 RPM then there is no problem, only problem is, have to use clutch in very low speed such as 5 or 10 Km speed, I feel KTM 390 Adventure much safer than Himalayan on Corners, wet road, overtaking other vehicles, over all for the price KTM 390 ADV is the go any where Bike in India, My Z650 is not that good to go bumpy small roads, Himalaya is good on small Bumpy roads, not good on the open highways, lack of engine power and unsafe brakes, KTM 390 Adv all around very good, my Hight is short and I can not put both my Toe on the ground, I thought its going to be a problem but I saw one youtuber Bulu Patnaik is shorter than me and Riding Kawasaki Z650 Versys, so I decided to buy this KTM 390 Adv, found that it is very lighter and very easy to ride.

The reason I changed the front sprocket to 14 teeth. In low gears 1st 2nd 3rd gear Low end Torque in Traffic knocking issue, 14 tooth sprocket resolved it.

@@vipuettan nothing, you are reducing one teeth, KTM 250 Adv has 14 tooth front sprocket, it will reduce some torque load to the engine, it will reduce the top speed at the rear wheel about 0.5% very much low number, 140kms to 135kms but better acceleration in any gear, Generely KTM 390 Adventure need engine RPM above 4000 to ride better in any gear
Build quality, fitting and comfort is best in bmw but spec and power in KTM

Well, the low end torque can be an issue when you're riding along a busy street. It's not a deal breaker though - you'll get used to it. Then comes the heat management. It'll be an issue untill the first servicing, after that it gets better. Other than that there's no problem at all - it's really nimble and easy to manoeuvre.

Its too heavy and vibrates a lot at low rpms
Thats why i was looking for a lower cc adv machine.
I don't ride fast.. I always cruise @ 70-80kmph
